decent EP.. but could be better

having beat DoW 1 and all of DoW2s campain, i went in to CR expecting the similer awe struck fun that Dow 1 and 2 generated for an old 40k TT player like my self.. while i found the campain enjoyable and interesting... i cant help feeling it totally shallow and really worthless overall

if you compare the compain from DoW 2 or DoW 1 and the ever high reaching events you had in both.. the CR campain played more of like a single player mission instead of a world altering OMG WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE event that it claimed to be..

for people who havent played it.. the break down is, a world lost to chaos reappiers AFTER the always victorious imperials put down the infestation of the hive mind fleet... there by saving their recruitment worlds for another day..

with the lost planet popping up and some strange signal.. they run off to check it.. AND BAM insert chaos and all the nicetys you get from offering your immortal soul to the gods of war/pleasure/knowledge and decay...

add in a lost space ship (now called hulk as its a junker) and we have what would seem on paper to be an epic campain for many hours

BUT what we get is a campain that lasts maybe 24hrs of heavy playing (norm for any real DoW player anyway)
and a shallow feeling that you spent so many hours..days...months waiting for this and its not really worth it..

the hulk mission was all of 2 ... yes thats right 2 missions on a warship lost in warp space for millenia... infested with tyranids and other nasties from the bowels of space... and we have 2 whole missions that take really 2 minutes tops to beat...(longer if u want to do all the extended stuff or whatever)

the lost world had a few more missions but really... for a lost world you see very little of it spending more time on recruitment worlds fighting orks or chaos forces there..

and the add on of chaos and a few new units REALLY didnt warrent the price tag or even the EP... it all could have been DC.... like the units were..

THO i enjoy the game as it stands now.. i really would have liked to have a mission based campain that the DOW 2 had.. i mean DoW 2 vanilla had worlds that would get increased infestation or over run by ork/eldar.. W/E... if you didnt rush there in XX days to stomp it out... WHILE CR had that... it was limited to about 3 missions total and once you beat that location u didnt go back unless a new mission started there

id have loved more missions in the hulk as i missed the Space Hulk game when it came out and the TT version was discontinued when i got in to warhammer.. so any hulk missions are always really exciting to say the least..

i truely hope the next EP for DoW2 really gets back to roots.. and adds some more OOOMP to the game instead of this easy peesy junk they are doing now

i miss the DoW 1 missions that took almost an hour to beat IF you didnt watch ur flanks... DoW 2... its over in 5 minutes or less kind of a let down .. when its ment to be a world conquering mission.... lost this mission you lose this world kind of deal... BUT oh look you beat an unbeatable enemy in 2 minutes woot the giant planet will never be conquered again..

chaos rising is FAR TOO short to be an expansion... chaos was really kind of worthless and weak in the campain... and it really needed more missions and a little stronger storyline.. everyone already knew some blood ravens were chaos worshippers....
