Few companies venture that far to attract new customers - and no, this isn't meant as a friendly comment.

User Rating: 5 | WarBirds: Dogfights PC
Warbirds is nothing new. Since the day of the first 3D graphics card pilots took off the runway to meet in furious dogfights.
Or even before? At least the wish to pitch one warplane against another is as old as... i would say Flight Simulator II at least, spotting a tiny WWI biplane simulation.

But really, it does not matter. As a fact, a few small communities of die hard piston engine fanatics have survivied over all those years of pixel shading impromements and whatsnot, for the single purpose of dugging it out against each other in multiplayer mode.

So you might find yourself strapped into the tiny cockpit of a japanese Zero class fighter when you first log in, and the next thing you know is - besides the fact that you didn't master the controls within 5 seconds - that you just experienced your first death in the game.

Most likely to let's say to an Ace pilot in a totally inferior plane (by the books). Are you are coming back for more? Most likely... not!

That's where this installment of the old Warbirds game comes into play. It's all about attracting new pilots towards the fast fury of WW2 aviation.

A good idea? Nope. The only reason for releasing this game is to attract new players to online gaming, which of course comes with an additional monthly price tag.

Even the ads are wrong. Of course Warbirds offers a lot more than 100 different planes to fly, but not on the offline variant. Dogfights offers a limited number only, for example you cannot fly any bomber except for one minor training session.

Flying one of those outdated wings of war can be very challenging as well as entertaining and even instructive by a good measure.
But here we got nothing but a desperate cry for attention. If the online flying community is to survive, and i am really hoping for them to succeed, then those guys need to learn that simulated rounds don't punch holes.

Or in other words: Dogfights will only attract so few new customers that it can be called a failed attempt already.

Open your freaking servers already for free, sell those joysticks or whatever... or die...
