Walt Disney World: Magical Racing Quest - First Impression

What do you get when you combine Kart-racing action with Mickey Mouse? Eidos' curiously named Walt Disney World: Magical Racing Quest. The game features tracks based on popular Disney attractions such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain, as you go racing with memorable characters like Jiminy Cricket and Chip & Dale. Other tracks featured in the game include Thunder Mountain, Typhoon Lagoon, Rock 'n' Rollercoaster, Haunted Mansion, and Splash Mountain.

Developed by Crystal Dynamics, Magical Racing Quest pays considerable homage to Nintendo's Mario Kart, in its power-ups, gameplay physics, and controls. While racing to the finish line, players can pester each other with quirky weapons such as heat-seeking acorns and magical frogs. The object, as in any race, is to finish first while keeping all the other racers behind you at all costs.

The Dreamcast version of the game will feature an exclusive four-player split-screen mode, which takes greater advantage of the peripheral multiplayer-specific arenas and challenges. The bright, cartoony visuals will also be enhanced to take advantage of the Dreamcast hardware.

Magical Racing Quest from Eidos will release on the Dreamcast in June 2000.
