Jules Verne's sci-fi novel gets the graphical adventure treatment courtesy of The Adventure Company.

Following in the footsteps of 2003's graphical adventure game based on Jules Verne's book Journey to the Center of the Earth, The Adventure Company has announced a new game based on another of Verne's sci-fi pieces, Journey to the Center of the Moon. The premise of the game is the same as the novel: A group of brilliant scientists design and create a space capsule that will bring them to the moon. However, the game diverges from the book at the point where they actually reach the moon. Whereas in the book the group fails and is left stranded in orbit above the lunar surface, in the game version, the scientists succeed and discover a whole new world.

You will play as a scientist named Michael Ardan, and you'll explore a number of highly detailed environments, including the lunar capsule, the surface of the moon, and an ancient temple. You will also encounter the world of an ancient civilization called the Selenites, a highly intelligent race that lives beneath the surface. You will find yourself exploring and solving a great number of challenging puzzles, each of which plays into an intelligence meter. The higher your score on the intelligence meter, the more respect you will earn from the Selenite people.

Journey to the Center of the Moon is rated T for teen, and is due to hit PCs this September. We'll bring you more on the game as it becomes available.
