I was so happy to find out that this game existed. A Sega Master system game released in 1997! How cool is that? Anyway, with a release that late you'd expect the music and graphics to be top notch, even though the game was released by a Brazilian toy-company! Question is… does it deliver?

Graphics:
The graphics of this 2d fighting game are stunning and the layout and design of the game are both ace, and the cut-scenes look very cool and are driving the story (which is a very cheesy one) forward. The character portraits are ok and at the character selection screen the face of the characters will give you a smile, a wink of the eye or something to let you know you chose the right one. The eight playable characters have different styles and animations to them and the sprites are animated really well. The stages and backdrops look cool and every stage/fight has a different style to it. It's just a nice looking game.

Sound:
Cool music and top sound-effects throughout the game and as you finish the game at the end of the credits, you'll get a nice little sample to listen to.

Gameplay:
So far so good right? Well, the first time I sat down with this game I beat it. I lost 2 fights in total and I beat the game in 20 minutes. After the very cool intro screen you get to choose your fighter from a total of eight characters, after that it's off to fight in 2d. The characters obviously only have 2 buttons to use since the Master System controller only has 2 so the combinations are pretty easy to perform and there are a few combos, but it's nothing compared to the later coming consoles' fighting games. I just like the fact that there are some guys out there who really wanted to make and release a game for the SMS in 1996 and you can tell it's done with a lot of heart, which is unusual for toy company games (remember LJN?) but to be brutally honest, this game has very little gameplay content and is too easy and too shallow to really enjoy.

Lastability:
Shorter life-span than Virtua Fighter Animation for Sega's 8-bit console is hard to find. A cool thing is that you'll unlock characters in the story mode as you go on. First you can only choose to play as Akira but after you defeat Pai, you can also choose to go into battle using her. There are only two modes in the game. Story-mode and Vs Com which is a bit boring. No multiplayer? That could have extended the longevity of this game. After you finish the story mode there's only the option to go into fights with different characters to come back for, but with a gameplay this shallow it's not going to happen. I'll give this game one hour's life-span.

A nice game that made me happy. But it's short. And easy
