Arcade Endings
Argue with me all you want about "Story isn't important in a fighting game", but I'm one of those very few people who would like to "know" the characters in a fighting game roster.

Yes, because reading walls of text is soo much more entertaining than watching characters interact.

I also would like to some kind of character story/progression in regards to the VF chars. Like y r they fighting each other n etc. Would be cool. Or even like animated series of some sort. Idk just some thoughts!

Reading an entire story dedicated to a certain character is in fact more entertaining than watching a 1-2 minute video of whatever they decide to make as someone's arcade ending if you ask me.

Virtua Fighter 5 FS out on PSN/XBL!!
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R confirmed for PSN/XBL Jun 18, 2012 4:26 am GMT
I have to agree with this actually. I mean, I know there's a story in the manuals and everything, but a single screen with a picture and some text would still be better than the absolutely nothing you get for beating arcade right now.

Frankly, the new Mortal Kombat's story mode spoiled me. If a fighting game's story isn't going to attempt to match that, I'd rather they not waste their time with a story, even if it's just a 30 second slideshow.

I am against story in this series. For one, I dislike arbitrary roster changes for the sake of the narrative in fighting games: see MK, Soul Caliber, Street Fighter, and Tekken series. The fact that some characters cannot make the next reiteration of the game because they died of old age or character X really killed character Y is rather silly for a genre that hinges on roster selection.
Street Fighter 4 had to ret-con to death in order to just add Gen and Gouken into the roster; and, still, Ono was crucified by story-heads. Don't get me started on the two resets on the MK series just to calm fans down as to why killed characters returned in future sequels. In Soul Calibur, they basically reskinned their characters just to keep narrative continuity of passing generations. It's really getting out of hand.

Where's the reset button?

And to that I say bull, cause there are fighting games who have characters in the roster that have nothing to do with the story, like Kratos in MK9. And there are other fighting games that have characters in the roster that either should be dead or have no fighting ability whatsoever, just look at any Naruto fighting game.
The ones that complain about stuff like that are the whiney extremist that don't deserve any attention.
And if all else fails, they could also do what MK9 did, have the arcade endings separate from the Story mode.

They have never had endings in any of the games. From VF1 to today. It's definitely one of the games that's all about the gameplay.
As for the cannon story they have always used the winner of the major player's tournament that they do to decide which character wins whichever version of the game is current for the next one.
Akira is their poster boy for this franchise and he's only been used to win one of these. Lau and Jeffery have both won one apiece. With Kage winning 2 in a row.

Seeing as I've just entered the franchise with this game, and only because it was free for PS Plus people, I don't really have a right to say whether or not it "needs" arcade endings, but all I'm saying is that if it did, then this game would've been PERFECT by my standards.

VF 1: lau
VF 2: Akira
VF 3 & 4: Kage
Are you saying Jeffery is the cannon winner of VF 5?
