Plays like a hack n' slash, but with hundreds of other people!
But all the grinding and idiotic players (I'm a pleasure to play with, I'm sure), they get old fast.
But when I started Vindictus I was instantly blown away, it doesn't play like your average MMO, MUCH faster and prettier.
The graphics are beautiful and the physics engine is top notch!
And the people were helpful and played well!
Graphics - If your computer can handle the highest graphic level, and take the physics without the frame-rate getting slow, you will be amazed at the beautiful job they did on this game.
The character meshes are perfect. and I didn't see any bad textures and the sort.
The only thing I had a problem with was the levels... after a while, they all started looking identical, but I think that was just crappy level design.
Sound - From the first cut-scene, your treated to one of the more annoying characters in the game, the oracle Tieve, the character looks fine, its the voice! The high pitched, whimpery voice that comes with most japanese/english games.
Thankfully, the female characters that you can take control of are much better!
The fighting sounds are great, the impacts sound deep and painful, the magic is exactly what is needed and the splintering wood, smashing pots and baddie's heads getting curb-stumped into the walls have an awesome impact that never gets old!
Gameplay - Vindictus controls well, letting you do what you want to do, when you want to do it!
You can grapple enemies (The first MMO that I've seen that lets you do that!), smashing their heads into walls or throwing them into other baddies, which, thanks to the awesome physics engine, is crazy awesome everytime!
You can hurl pots and debris around to your hearts content.
You can combo, dodge and destroy most of the environment, killing yourself or baddies in the process.
Characters - Right now there are 3 different classes to be, another coming soon, all with a set gender and fighting style.
Fiona - The classic sword and shield chick is probably the easiest character to jump in and play as, but every character has a deep learning curve that is easily learned, but takes time to master! she can block attacks and counter with a good amount of damage to boot! She is the best tanker and a great starting character.
Lann - The only male character so far, has two swords which he duel wields with lightning fast combos. fun fun fun!
He can crowd control , beat the snot out of bosses and make a mess out of any battlefield! although health can be a problem, he makes up for it with being really fast. he is fun and well worth playing!
Evie - The mage girlie, who has a staff she can combo with and magic attacks that work well.
Infact, she is the first mage class in an MMO, that is just as fun as the other classes... it's the destructible environment and power blasts of energy that make this little mage a winner! I never got to a high enough lever to unlock the really cool powers with Evie, but I've seen videos, and it looks like it would be worth your time to lever her up!
I firmly believe this may be one of the best MMOs to date!
And seeing as how it is free, you could at least give it a try!
