True Viewtiful Joe fans will most likely love this game. If not... well...
Anyway, the game still keeps it's fresh gameplay, with a assortment of useful powers to use on your enemies to make your way to the top. There are certain missions your hero (or villain) will have to complete in order to stay ahead of the pack. Some get old after awhile (too many collect the diamonds) but overall pretty entertaining. There's even a trial mode that adds a little uniqueness to the mix (oh, and majority of unlockable characters come from this mode, hint hint). The graphics are nicely similar to the console versions, but they're missing the flair of the console games . Replay value is pretty nice, too, so you can go back and get the high score worthy of bragging about... if you have that motive! The soundtrack and voice acting are very good, though some sounds will be drowned out by the constant action.
Which brings me to the bad, which, sadly, there are. This game is too fast for the PSP to handle. The minigames in levels can be total madness, and the simplest boss fight could turn into a slaughter! A lot of times I've found myself searching for my character in the madness! The trial modes can be a hassle to play at times, since each one has their own objectives, and can put you in a bad situation. The game is also short, and can be beaten in a few hours time (more if you're counting the special edition levels, luckily... and those are challenging, but sometimes bordering on cheap). Other than a bunch of frustration, this is an overall great game, that everyone should at least try out. If you don't like, go ahead with your life. If you like it, then you are truly VIEWTIFUL!!!... or just, good for you!
