Check out this official trailer for Yoshi's New Island, coming to the Nintendo 3DS and 2DS on March 14th.
Did you enjoy this video?
I liked the old Yoshi sound effects better. Still, this should be pretty good. I do have to question Nintendo's use of the word "New" in so many of its recent titles though. Its going to sound stupid when people start referring to old titles as new this and new that when the next installation comes out.
Maybe I'm missing something, but something about this game feels like it doesn't have the heart Yoshi's Island did originally. It feels plastic and hollow, like it was only made because some higher ups were like, "You know what people really liked? Yoshi's Island. The one that TriHex guy always runs. Yeah, let's make another one. A Yoshi's NEW Island!"
But then they go and pick the developer that made the DS sequel, and that game wasn't particularly any good either. So I'm apprehensive about this one. Honestly, if Yoshi matched the art style in the trailer and this looked more like a natural evolution of the original, I'd be more interested. Instead, this is coming off as a desperation move from Nintendo.
Aside: what is it with Nintendo and "NEW" games always adding GIANT gimmicks/enemies?
The only thing that bothers me in this game is the way Yoshi is animated when standing still and running.. It's just weird. Other then that it looks good, really like the original on the SNES. I'm looking forward to it. I still play the SNES cart from time to time :)
Looks good. I loved the original on the SNES back in the day.
What's with that art style?
Who names the games over at Nintendo? "Just slap 'new' on it, I'm too tired to think today"
