I won't complain about the difficulty as long as they include a variety of modes. I can't play Ninja Gaiden Black on anything below Very Hard mode because its just too easy.
Having said that, I really hope they've taken to heart the mistakes they made with Ninja Gaiden 3's over-simplistic combat that required absolutely no skill at all, pieced together by a completely idiotic story, to Razor's Edge's "remastered" system which basically just spawned nearly endless waves of the same enemies to make it more "challenging". Couple this with the fact that yellow and blue essence were both removed (goodbye incentives to fight well), and each encounter becomes an endurance test where you fight against 40 or so guys while constantly being spammed by rockets from areas out of your reach. It could not have been more frustrating and dull.
Makes me want to dust off the ol' Afro Samurai :)
But much of a Ninja Gaiden vibe I do not get from what I see of this game.
I get a distinct Borderlands feel from this game. A cell shaded graphic style, with insane action and rude jokes, I like it.
i really like the bold visual style of this game. it looks amazing in motion. i'm a bit concerned it will be shallow in the gameplay department though. time will tell.
im having a hard time playing any sword game after Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.. just because the cut at will... its so beautiful.. but no other games have it :(
I thought the last team Ninja game to really harness fighting magic was Ninja Gaiden II, and even that one faltered on a few levels that the first Xbox reboot got perfectly right.
I don't know... these games are just getting too flashy, with way too much fluff. I'm not expecting this one to be any different. If there's one thing I can't stand in a film or a video game, it's fluff. So many games these days are going down that same path, it's nice to see indie games keeping it slower.
Without Itagaki Team Ninja has been forced to find an Identity for itself. This game may very well be what they needed.
I don't expect this game to touch the quality of Ninja Gaiden on the original Xbox, but this does look like it could be a fun rental.
Interesting art style would be cool to have this be one of those interactive comic movie things but I have no interest in a goofy ninja lolipop chainsaw game just bring me some serious Old school NG next gen game please and thanks!
I feel like this will be on par with Splatterhouse and NeverDead. Which isn't a good thing. I mean, it doesn't take rocket science to see how shallow the combat is.
If the gameplay is good, that'll be enough for me. After all, that is pretty much the main point of a game; that it plays well.
oh man also they say in this it doesnt have a super hardcore difficulty feel :( that was the whole charm of NGB yes it was very difficult but it was fair, if you used the parry button wisely and counter attack you could break blocks and it always felt satisfying pulling off an Izuna Drop on high level ninjas or the Ryu clone. It was fun because it was so hard and challenging and it invited you to learn the game mechanics and you could seriously wreck some serious havoc once you knew the tricks of that game. This seems more like a cell shaded mess where they mix ninjas, zombies and mechas in one what the hell xD
Damn this looks crappy :( Please just bring us Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden 2 to the PC that would be all ! Look at Platinum what a huge success they had with MGRR on Steam, dont try to improve because it wont work as oldschool fans wont be pleased and new ones will be turned off and will get a wrong impression of NG.
story was never a strong point in ninja gaiden anyway so seems cool. i wonder how long the game will be cuz if its another 6 hour button masher im going to cry .
PC beggers begone who wants to port those games thats been out forever I want a new NG go beg somewheres else..
@franzito He never abandoned Mega man, Capcom did. That's why we're getting mighty #9. derp.
I would argue that Mr. Inafune has indeed forfeited the character, even though he may have remembered the gameplay. Rock as a fictional person is dead to Inafune.
What makes you think that I am not aware of that?
Also, you may want to think that Inafune still yearns for Mega-Man, but I am of the opinion that Inafune has ditched that fictional character for a spiritual successor in Beck instead.
