Hey don't that alian look like the alian from Destroy All Humans 2 in 1:05 hahahaha. Hey what you doing in this game? T up if you agree.
HA winner of 20 E3 awards AC3 got 70!!!
JUST KIDDING this game looks awesome definitely going to buy
Hey XCOM fans, if you want to play this game's clone, check UFO: AI on google and download it for free. The graphics and sound effects are poor but still it is a long and deep game with the same fun as this one.
The problem with trying to replicate legendary games like X-COM is that the original games were not about how big the Soliders were or how many particles you can put on the screen at once. It was about getting everything right a subtle balance.
I didn't know Optimus Prime was in this game XD sorry sorry, that's a joke :) anyways, I'm excited for this reboot. I mean...c'mon XCOM was like...one of the best strategy games EVER created! That and Lords of the Realm 2 were some of my best past times I've had. I was worried when they said you were only allowed to take 6 squad mates out instead of having pretty much as many squad members your ship could carry go out and battle...but I think it could be awesome. The thing about the original though was that these squad members...well you just couldn't get attached to them. They died very easily...so I'm thinking in this game they're gonna buff them up a bit. Which I guess makes sense...but oh well, I'm still excited :)
Take note devs !!!!!!!!!
this is how you make a reboot of a classic franchise by staying close to the original source.
first day purchae:))
syndicate reboot = that is how you dont make a reboot
that shit stayed of the shelve gathering dust next to the bin where it belonged.
I was waiting for 17 years..... I hope this game to be close to the first one , there was agony and fear every time you make each soldier face up a different direction or each time you opened a door or walking around a building trying to find the last alien.... While 250 scientists and 150 technicians worked themselfs out tryingto give the technological advance......
AS fan of the oldest x-com series(and some ufo) i'd like to think this game is not going to be a dumbed down version.
From what i see it seems that developers tried to respect the gameplay.
I think i will go on this title after at least the first month ... i will never going to pre-order or buy at day-0.
Hope this wont be the n-th orrible console ported game. (You hear me I HATE you consoles you totally ruined gaming! )
Its true, the way they are revealing the game to us does not follow the theme of the first X-COM. They have succeeded in enhancing the game in every way. I love the new camera view and all the enhanced graphics and diversity (the base view rocks!).
X-COM originally had a dark feel to it. The music most of all would grab you and keep you looming in focus of the next alien attack and when u would discover what the aliens are up to.
One of the things i loved about the original X-COM was being able to name your squad mates. I could never let ONE of them die, i always saved before each major confrontation.
Any ways, they could of done without the new comical look they've brought. The first X-COM had a more real feel to it. And not to mention the Computer AI for the aliens was flippin amazing. I hope that each of the aliens play out like the first game. Remember when that insect alien would always pop up near your group of guys before you noticed him. Always hated those things.
Thanks for bringing this great game back. Its sad to see that these types of games need to return to show all those idiot game developers how to make a REAL game.
By the way if anybody hasn't heard, Baldurs Gate is coming out again enhanced in September, OH YEAH! :P
It's my perpetually-warped and out-of-touch opinion that they should, I don't know, do something original like play on this 'Enemy Unknown' theme by making the game just that open-ended, say with the risky and controversial use of randomization so that you ACTUALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO FACE! Oh, I know, such a random suggestion, I don't know why I would suggest such a thing for improving a game, silly me...Just make some generic sequel, no one will care...
I have high hopes for this game, not least because of Firaxis.
But sorry, this trailer looks utter rubbish, and in no way does it represent the
xcom "feel" and atmosphere that you sense when watching the videos on the official game website.
No clue why they would make a trailer that seems so distant to the "spirit" of the actual game.
Looks more promising then the previous Xcom games that I've seen. Will definitely be following this one. I enjoyed the Sentinel Down games, I hope it is similar in terms of destructible environments.
@Derugsget out of here
@Lockjaw2000 you forgot about Ultima 6 and Ultima 7... Wing Commander etc...
You'll never get that type of game again, it's like those old songs that no one can ever compare to or duplicate...
@dpyron The original may have been one of the greatest games of its time, but the xcom series usually get average score.
@lonewolf1044 Don't you mean on a floppy (1.44 FDD)? CD for data storage was like cold fusion theory back in 1993... Good times...
@lonewolf1044 heheh CD ...i just realized..CD was something i used :P trolling..sry.
@Aumakua actually there are about 6 xcom games.
@Aumakua one was a proposed FPS with RTS elements set in the 60s. they scrapped that one because they didn't feel it would be in the spirit of xcom. and it was made by another developer. this is the rts xcom like the original one.
@tgwolf Unless something has changed, most of the encounters are random. Making it "open-ended" would undermine the pressure you feel as a player to destroy the aliens before they destroy you.
@Kayweg AGREE!!!! but Im still buying on the first day :D
I do hope they release a demo version in PSN T~T
@00J I never played those...but isn't Wing Commnader like...a PS1 "flying" game where you pretty much do space missions and such? Correct me if I'm wrong!
@MageSavant @Bhemont @dpyron It's a reimagineing of the original... It will contain other features like cover, and the glamcam (a closeup on special kills, dangerous aliens and great moves by your squad members) but we won't be able to build more than one base, and I don't know how the recruiting and training of troops will work... but overall it seems a pretty good game :D
@lindallison @aniforprez @Aumakua Actually it was a Tactical Squadron Role Playing Game (TSRPG or TRPG) which had elements of strategy (not real time though) and heavy elements of RPG (character development and buildup) The original idea was based on the tabletop games of the era before computer gaming, where you had 4 to 8 players around a table playing with dice and a storyteller, and combat would develop on a grid with a specified space and walls (kind of like hasbro's "Clue" tabletop game) and you would recieve experience over fights and role characterization... Anyways, looks like a great game, and hopefully it will live up to its predecessors
