World of Tanks leads the free-to-play Xbox invasion
Wargaming's CEO Victor Kislyi tells us how World of Tanks is changing the face of Xbox gaming.
Played WoT for 2+ years on the PC - in short, if you're a casual gamer it's good fun/value...otherwise you'll go nuts from grinding or go premium if you have money. Either one is a spiral of bad decisions.
Do like me, go play War Thunder by Gajin - it's a lot more fun, better graphics etc...
Free to play my ass. Youll still have to buy XBLG to play it online, which is the entire point of the game to be played online.
Free to play 99% of the time is something I dislike because you either 1) Get a really shitty game. 2) Have to grind your ass off to get even an inch ahead. 3) It repetitive to the point of insanity. Or 4) You have to buy things with real money to get anywhere.
pff f2p games is about one thing: devs putting out less and getting more. They hope to appeal to the gamers addictive nature and pride while selling them some piece of trash game that has crap in you want to become strong which cost money. I feel victim to this scam on a moblie app called age of warring empire. I spent sooo much money on it, i'm embarrassed to even tell you how much. Anyway, after that i will never ever trust or spend money on any f2p game. Its just a recipe for disaster and a means for lazy devs with no talent to become fat lazy rich pigs.
WoT is played because there is no alternative in the genre... WG is the worst game developer I have ever seen..
For those who don't know, WoT is pure Pay-to-Win game in disguise.
Waiting for WT: Ground Forces
This game really looks fun, but fuck this free to play garbage. If this is the route Microshaft is going to be taking down the road, I'll never get an Xbox One. Leave free to play on pc games.
Screw PhonyStation 4. Wargaming knows that it will brick on the download or start twerking and go down from another hack, if its on any fail Phony systems.
What an indecent company Wargaming is. I've never seen more greedy fu**ers in the gaming industry. Well maybe after EA...
They have absolutely no intention of improving a still half finished unbalanced buggy crap game. And now because Tanks (or Ground Forces) are coming to War Thunder they're like
"Comrades, we ripped off as many PC gamers as we could, lets bail now and try to ripp off some XBOX users because War Thunder will become available is PS4 as well, we can't go there. And if that fails, we will ripp off some tablet users"
I don't know about you guys, but i hate this company more than anyone else in the gaming industry. They make so much money that they could have created games 100 times better than their current crap, and yet they don't even fix the damned bugs still existing since closed beta.I think they even abandoned the two other games they were making.
Oh well, we have War Thunder now, things are good. F**K O*F Wargaming. Go to hell.
Put it on a disc to play single player. Panzer Commander was one of my fav's on PC along with Silent Hunter. These should be redone for the 360 or even the next gen.
Why the free promo to MS? I mean I know they need it, but it really seems contrived and at the behest of MS
the game got success from the pc crowd, not xbox....shameless xbox promo
I've been playing the Xbox beta for this. It's actually pretty fun. You don't really have to spend any money on it at all. It's still fun.
I don't find tank games very interesting. Give me "World of Tanks & PLANES" and then we're talking.
60 million players is very impressive tho. Good for them.
War Thunder is fun, but i found it to be less realistic imho. And its only planes right now as far as i was able to tell.
@amantia I don't know that depends on your ability to learn. I would say at least 3000 matches and spending hours on forums searching for intel on weak spots of different tanks and memorizing them. OK sure you will have to spend majority of your time playing to get somewhere especially if you want higher tier tanks, for which you will have to play with lower tier tanks or you will go bankrupt. But if being competitive is the problem you won't be able to pay and win.
@megakick It's ok... This game isn't even "really" a F2P game.. it's P2W.
@lucivar1 Bricking happens quite often I can attest to that...
@GeorgeSyll Look i played WoT since beta and even today i go one or two battles every now and than and let me tell you. The game improved A LOT since beta especially on the balance side, matchmaker disparancy improved and visibility system improved by A LOT. I mean idk if u know how bad things were in beta, but they improved and when i look back on stuff they actually DO listen to feedback, but the problem is it's not instantanious, game development takes time, when i remember about stuff ppl were complaining in beta... it's all mostly fixed now.
@cvfish Rift is the only true and real F2P game I have played before... If you have played this game and are defending it, claiming that it isn't P2W, you are either working for them... or one of the people that win (aka pay) and still under the spell:P
I'm not exactly posting all over this threat about FTP models but I've played several.
Got to say I'm not exactly overwhelmed.
@cvfish most are shit mate, there are few f2p games that don't adopt 'pay2win' models... they're angst is fully justified if somewhat blind.
Like free Online for all PS4 multiplayer games.
@Mr_BillGates you mean like Blizzard did with Diablo 3?
@GermanBomber Keep in mind though that they only quote people who register, not necessarily pay them in various forms of microtransactions. Many people are good at playing F2P and avoid spending much money on the titles. Anyone can register and play, but how many people are purchasing items here and there? What is their total per player revenue. It might be high.. or it might not.
I'm sure their registration on Xbox will be large. But I wonder how much money they end up making. I am not inferring either way... just curious.
@TheRealBigRich They're focusing on the fact that people need Xbox Live Gold to play, either that or they're focusing on how games like Killer Instinct are F2P, but charging for key features in the game like characters.
@TheRealBigRich NO WE DONT !!!!!!
@xxxDirtyJoexxxTRUE STORY BRO....TRUE STORY..... WoT was crap from day one, it is still crap and it will be untill it dies.
Wargaming didn't IMPROVE anything. They just FIXED some problems but very few, while breaking a whole lot other things.
I know how it was back then and i know how it is now so bother.... and DEVELOPING a game means...well developing it,making it better both in terms of graphics, physics and gameplay. WoT got no improvements in any of these aspects, ever. So, no developement.
If you think that the addition of more tanks is "developement" then you're a fool. The game is the same crap, they're just adding stuff for people to spend their money on.
Oh and i've seen companies with lower income developing and improving their games. Wargaming hasn't spent a dime in making WoT a better game.
See you in War Thunder.
@xhawk27 Yup , You play those Free to Play games without paying a cent ~
@PETERAKO Yeah, to be able to play online and have access to their servers in the first place.
It wouldn't be fair if silver membership got access to it... Derp.
You clearly haven't played in a while, it got improved by alot.
Balancing is an issue, and it feels more like play to win than ever :( , but saying the game didn't improve from day one is plain crying...
