Wolfenstein: The New Order, Below - The Lobby from PAX East
This week on The Lobby, we get a first look at Below with Nathan Vella, a chat with Pete Hines about Wolfenstein: The New Order, and Danny catches up with Rich Gallup, Alexander Bruce, and Zoe Quinn about the difficulties of staying indie all at PAX East 2014!

Thank you Bethesda for taking that stance on multi-player. I always felt that certain games had no need for a multi-player feature. a good example was when UBI added multiplayer to AC. it had no real need for it in my opinion and too many single player games now have a multiplayer tacked on the side, and i think that's not really a requirement.
This is actually looking a lot of fun and the shooting mechanics even from watching I can sense they feel really solid. One of the things I really liked about this game are the villains, I find them very interesting, very rare for FPS to do just that.
Finally, the animations and art look a lot like Dishonored to me, I guess it's no surprising as they are from the same publisher. And it is definitely not a complaint, just an observation.
Those of you watching this might want to watch the several minutes that happened before this show.
It can be seen in the first twenty minutes of the Twitch version of this Lobby episode.
(You might want to fast-forward past the "Go to the Lobby" song, of course.)
As well as the last, this Wolfenstein looks sooooooooo generic! The only appeal it possibly has is the Doom 4 beta key...
I wonder how many people from Riddick and The Darkness went onto the project. Riddick is one of my favorite 'shooters' ever, and The Darkness one of my favorite of last-gen, and I also have enjoyed Wolfenstein games. When the first gameplay footage was shown, the gameplay and the way it all moved did remind me of Riddick, which shouldn't have surprised me when I heard they're the same people that worked on it. It's awesome and I'm excited for the game. Furthermore, this being an single player only experience seems crazy; it's great in my opinion, but still weird.
I love this show, but honestly this player you have to reproduce the videos kind of sucks... I mean it keeps stoping every 15 seconds, and sometimes it works ok, it never buffers correctly I would presume... You should really fix that or upload the videos to Youtube right away and forfeit the traffic.
Every time I see or hear something about The New Order, I like it more and more. Helps that I loved Escape From Butcher Bay. Knowing that these former Starbreeze guys are focused on delivering a quality singleplayer-only shooter rather than another half-assed 5-hour rush job to tack onto a multiplayer game is great news. Honestly, this is the most excited I've been about a singleplayer shooter since Half-Life 2.
This was a great show guys, and it was awesome to meet all the GameSpot crew at PAX this year, Chris, Danny, Peter, Mary, and Shaun. And it's really weird watching this today cause I was the guy who asked the second to last question during the Wolfenstein segment.
@edussz Cod and Battlefield are generic!
Yet Doom 4 won't be sooooooo generic too?
@ganonshin Yeah they are inside a large hall.
@sundfeld When the new site went up I was using Chrome, and I had a lot of problems. I very recently switched to Firefox and it's a lot betters so far. Actually what I am doing is browsing the articles in Chrome and videos in Firefox.
But in general there have been a lot of complaints about this and they continue. I wonder if GS is looking into it, or maybe just letting it slide as acceptable given their estimates on the number of users it affects.
@sundfeld Problem is the youtube ones are locked at 30 frames per second and have bad compression.
@spartanx169x It is an enjoyable & well-produced show.
@16bitreview Cool, I'll probably never attend one of these big shows, but oh well :).
I saw your comment below. So the GS staff don't like brush you off? They are pretty famous :).
@16bitreview Hope you keep watching The Lobby and some of the other shows here. Gamespot is a wonderful company with great people and every week that I watch their shows I almost feel like I'm with them.
@xgalacticax He's a super cool dude =]
@xgalacticax Brings back memories.
@fobwashed He stole your shirt! We need to gather a posse!
@crimsonbrute Glad to hear people still stick up for single-player
I've seen a lot of comments with this issue so I hope they fix it, because I didn't have that problem with the old site, and Shows like this I always watch on Twitch but sometimes I can't tune in on the exact moment it is live and this goes on Youtube until tomorrow soooo I don't like to wait, hahahaha
@hystavito Yeah they are really cool people, how they are on their live streams and stuff is how they are in real life. It was really cool to see them at PAX and being as excited as everyone else to hang out, talk to other gamers, and play awesome games.
If you ever get a chance to attend a PAX I would suggest it, it's really an amazing experience, I've been 3 years in a row and I'm always pumped when it comes around.
@eblevins021 @16bitreview I'll be a GameSpot fan for life. They hooked me up at PAX East this year. They gave out free beers at the Whiskey Priest on the first day and were always hanging out on the exhibition floor with fans. Heck, I ran into Chris Watters like 4 or 5 times throughout the weekend and they set up an event where I got to play Evolve on like a 50 foot screen and didn't have to wait in a 3 hour line.
Forever grateful to GameSpot.
