I'd buy a Vita, I'm tired of smartphone games that are so silly and waste my time. I tried out a Vita in the store with the Drake game, simply awesome and very near the PS3 experience. However; I do have to eat and clothe my children, so I'm not getting a Vita anytime soon (well until I collect enough bottles and cans from dumpster diving expeditions to afford it - lol)
if the loading times are fixed, then the game is now perfect. It's right now the only racing game with online multiplayer on the Vita, and if I buy a Vita this fall, and there's some good chance I will, then it's on my list.
THE CURRENT top games on metacritic>games page are all handheld games: VITA, 3DS, iOS.... fate is shifting...
This game deserves a lot more credit than it is given in a lot of reviews. People would be upset if they revamped the wipeout experience and I think the devs did a good job of avoiding this while keeping the experience fresh. Relatively subtle changes such as splitting weapon pads into two types and differentiating how the weapons like rockets work between classes of vehicles help center races around combat. "Skill paths" are also immensely rewarding to those who master them, especially on more difficult tracks like sol which mostly lack guard rails to bounce off of. This game is the most thrilling portable experience I have ever had. Now just back it up with some free dlc like in the psp games and I'm set and waiting to buy the next wipeout game!
If a launch title looks this good, I can't imagine how good the games will look like in a few years. Awesome stuff.
