This is a stupid move if it is true....only a brain dead CEO or a brain dead dev team with no education would come up with this idea.

If these rumors are true, my house will be filled with Playstation 4's. I am not putting always online devices with video cameras in my childrens' rooms...

I doubt it, all the rage atm is publicity so MS can look like the good guys when they announce the console. The always on thing will be just for ppl who want background downloads and the like.

We all don't have super great internet. If they do that i'm afraid I won't being getting a xbox 720.

I would imagine this is something that will change - it may only be specific to development kits, but we can't say for sure what will be in the final model.

My larger concern is, to the journalists out there, could we PLEASE stop calling this damned thing the Xbox 720? The 360 was named to indicate it being a "360 degree entertainment experience," 360 degrees as in "full circle." Are we thinking by going around the circle TWICE (720 degrees) it becomes MORE complete? Circley-er? More advanced? Because that would be, y'know, a colossally stupid name....

Sorry, that was a bit rant-y of me, but we need to be calling it the neXbox (as in Next-Xbox) or at least something less sucktastic than 720....

i am disappointed that this has only 11 comments as opposed to the 12k+ comments on the other 'Deal with it' report

Has there ever been a console unannounced this close to launch?  I hope this doesn't become the norm.

This is a comment not about the always online thing but all the reports that the new Xbox will require kinect to function. I don't know if journalists use that language for sensationalism or what but if the rumour is that it requires a kinect to function then that actually means that it will have kinect build in or added to the box from the start. They aren't going to sell them separately and have a device that needs an addon to function. It will be like a extra feature of the console. Not to mention that a lot of people had already predicted that kinect would be build in the new Xbox long before any reveals for Durango started happening.

I can't honestly believe that they would go through with this after the disaster that EA experienced with SimCity.  If it is really true, then at least my decision is already made about whether or not to get the 720 - I'll be sticking with my 360 and PC.

@Clastor  they initially said they would announce it in April.. and i swear to God Kratos, that i recently read the announcement was postponed to May

@Leakybubbles rumors... we'll see soon enough. I'd rather wait. coz Sony's dualshock 4 alone, was not the hardware I staid up for. believing I was gonna see history. man that was the dumbest page.

saying that micro$oft did the Xbox live gold, so maybe. but who will pay something they can't play. even pimp Gabe doesn't dare. too much money to lose.

a cloud rig would fit the profile.

@surferosh @Clastor Yeah I saw that too.  If the rumors are true about "always on", after this backlash they might have to postpone and get rid of always online.
