Watch Dogs - Season Pass Trailer
The Watch Dogs Season Pass gives players access to a unique single-player story featuring T-Bone, a new digital trip game mode and more.
I suppose all you whiners want all of your luxuries handed to you for free. Those of you that assume this stuff was CUT from the original version are pretty stupid. Wait until the game comes out and measure the amount of content in it and THEN start bitching about the DLC. Entitled little shits.
I find the hate for companies offering DLCs and seasons passes misplaced. First, let's just acknowledge that — whether you think they're worth it or not — so-called triple-A games are an enormous investment on the part of the companies making them. Current expectations for such titles in terms of production values (from graphic effects to voice acting to a fully realized multiplayer mode) are far higher than they were for last-gen games. So it stands to reason that they're going to explore many revenue models in their quest to make good on their investment. This is exactly like a movie making money from ticket sales, merchandise, DVDs and Blu-rays, international distribution, pay-per-view, cable rights, etc., etc.
Why are we seeing these pre-purchase options earlier and earlier? It's logical and obvious — as abovementioned, these games cost a fortune, so developers want to start recouping their investment as soon as possible, since it's all money out the door until they do. (I expect they're also a bit jealous of all the indies getting kick-starter money, though it's a tiny fraction of their budgets, of course.)
Now, I hear the folks who say, "They're lopping a chunk off the complete game and making us pay extra." But, really, this is all just packaging. What if Watch Dogs minus the seasons pass gives you 60 hours of satisfying content? Aside from the timing, how is this materially different from an expansion pack? Referring to my earlier film industry analogy — do you expect them to hand you a Blu-ray of the movie when you buy a ticket at the local cinema? Many times, the DLCs aren't necessary to experience the essential goodness of a game — it's the completist in us that burns at the notion that we're missing something.
And where is your choice as a consumer being denied? If you're keen to have Watch Dogs, but resent the DLC cost, just buy the core game. If you learn that the core game is light on content and doesn't represent a satisfying standalone experience, then don't buy it. If you view the cost as too high, wait a bit after release, and it will come down...radically. This goes for the seasons pass too...buy the core game now, if you can't wait, and the seasons pass later, when it's one-quarter of the as-new cost.
And for those who say they'll wait for a review rather than pre-purchase...kudos to you. That's being a smart consumer and supporting the folks like Gamespot who provide a service by informing your decision.
Personally, I wait to buy my games, almost never purchasing at release. It's amazing how a fairly short wait can get you a once-$60 title for $10 or even $5 (Blizzard being the exception...their prices never seem to come down). And I've got such a long queue now, I've got many games to get through before starting a more recent one, so it feels painless. This practice has the added benefit of giving game-makers time to patch those inevitable bugs. It also means time for the community to develop mods, for FAQs to be written, and on and on. Of course, for multiplayer-centric games, I understand that waiting can be an issue.
And some people just need to be first in line. It's what developers count on.
Like many others I will wait for the complete edition. This is clearly Disk Locked Contents, evidently from the video at 0:36.
This is the type of DLC that seems purely like a money grab. This kind of stuff used to just be part of the game, now they take a line of side missions and pull it out of the game unless you pay 20 more bucks.
Im not sure about this one. Ill be waiting for some first hand accounts before dropping cash on it.
LOL DLC already huh? Well I guess that's pretty much the norm now, funny thing is this looks better than the actual core game itself.
Hooray DLC for a game thats not even out yet, don't worry though you can buy it day 1 and bump the price of your game up to nearly a 100 bucks. DLC = fist in ass
Really? Introducing a season pass for a game that will release in a half year, if it is just pushed back a little more? This industry gets worse and worse
A trailer to show us what's been cut from the game for DLC...wow, basically just a middle finger is what it is.
so they delayed the game for one year and now they have "too much core content" that they can afford sell it for extra bucks?
soooo done with new games season pass , early collect item and other awesome things...going to cryo this till 2 years after release
Really excited for this game, but unless they offer some serious content in the Seasons Pass then I wont bother. Seems like there is plenty to be had in the base game. New cars/gamemodes/weapons/hacks might swing me.
game not even released yet and we're already talking about season pass?! let the game pass reviews first!
This is stupid..This looks like it is done..Why isn't it in the core game?..I hate Season passes and DLC..
@Jawehawk-DK Perhaps it is YOU who is the greedy asshat, wanting everything handed to you for free?!
@arrow2thekneeXD I hate em too dude. They always have to make some extra money from us
@origkillmachine @Jawehawk-DK with a comment like that you are part of the problem...nickel and dime dlc and season passes are a sham
Ubi$oft - here's what we cut from the game..but here it is repackaged and made to look like we're being good to you
we know you'll buy it
The new generation of I'll buy anything they sell me, even if it should have come with the game( due to being already done), and over charging for it has ruined gaming. I have not bought a new game in 2 years, and may never again. I'm not prepaying for DLC that may be utter crap. Let the idiots test it all out and I'll pick up the GOTY edition.
