Cool game but 2 big problems, stupid camera and no checkpoints. Reloading to the last savepoint can last me a trip to the bathroom, peee, return.
If I had a Vita I'd definitely pick this up it looks great! Too bad I'm not planning on getting a Vita anytime soon (once it has a decent library of games I'll probably get it up though) :(
Like it...can't wait...more speed & fast movement, this must be style ninjutsu.,..,..great...action..games
Quite possibly the best pure 3rd person action combat fighting game of this or any other generation - which is some feat considering it's up against DMC and God Of War. GOW series has incredible graphics, sound and set piece moments, DMC has great over the top comic action but the swordplay combat here is a step above. NG Sigma was one of my first purchases for the PS3 and I'd be damned if I were to ever sell it. This game is the modern day Shinobi......nuff said.
Yes I'll vouch for Carolyn, this is definitely one of the best action games of all time. It's kind of like a Pink Floyd album, no matter how many times you play it, it never gets old. People never mention 'play control' anymore but I believe this game has the best play control of any game I've ever played. If you haven't played this game yet, do yourselves a favor and pick it up...and take an extra battery pack with you because you won't want to put it down.
@theshonen8899 I think NGSP is just a better game though. Ninja Gaiden has always been about the gameplay and all the best-action-game-ever-gameplay is still in here. If anything, I think an 8.0 is a low score for this type of game. That said, I can see why it is so 'low', because it is an old game nevertheless. Uncharted has cool gameplay, but not as good as this (if you can compare it anyway) and it doesn't feature the set piece moments that usually make Uncharted games held in high regard. So I think it makes sense.
@sagejonathan Why you're saying that?I started a little bit late, but for a game like this it's never late right?
@carolynmichelle Okay, I'll take your word on it. But it better be pretty damn good 'cause I'm loving Golden Abyss right now :]
@theshonen8899 This is a better game than Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Ninja Gaiden is one of the greatest action games of all time, and even years after its original release, the combat is still exceptional. The difference in score is not a mistake. :)
Coolyfett will be getting this game today, it is a sexy game and coolyfett has not played the series in a very long time.
Another great review, Carolyn. Too bad I won't be picking this one up right now. I've experienced Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden Sigma, so a fourth round is not something I find necessary right now. :)
@theshonen8899 Probably because this GAME is more of a GAME than the Interactive Movie, Uncharted lol ;P
@theshonen8899 It might help that Ninja Gaiden was actually a real classic. One of the best games ever made in my opinion due to a great combat system, very cool level design (lots of inter-connecting large areas), a challenging and difficult gameplay that rewards you for learning it and varied enemies (plus good boss fights). It really is an epic game with mechanics and fights that set it apart from others in the genre, Uncharted may be popular at the moment but I can see how this would score higher.
This old port got a higher score than Uncharted? Not saying the game is bad, I haven't played it. But c'mon Gamespot, you guys need to normalize your scores across your critics. Numbers aside, great review Caro.
Woah, heavy spoilers towards the end for those who haven't played Ninja Gaiden :D I'm very impressed that the Vita is pumping out such visuals. Imagine how much more the games will look once devs start to get a real grasp on the system's strengths.
Fair score and review and made me want to pick up the game and I have 2 versions black and Sigma with at home. I honestly might pick this up for the hell of it. I love this game.
Tecmo has some common sense I see. Releasing the best Ninja Gaiden Game again. I own, Ninja Gaiden Ninja Gaiden Black Ninja Gaiden Sigma and now Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus.
Great review Carolyn thank you very much for the video review too. I really like video reviews to supplement the text.
Very impressive visuals for a handheld. I wonder what it would look like on a 3DS. Great review by the way, you have become one of my favourite reviewers carolyn.
