People who don't know much about computers won't pay so much for one, and people who know what they're doing with computers are aware these are way overpriced, so I really don't know who would buy these tbh.

Yah that makes so much sense considering most steam users already have a more than capable gaming rig built lol.  So why would anyone want to overpay for a "steambox".  Well thought out valve...  /smh

As for the cheaper models, they are still too much for what you get from what I can tell.  I can spend that $500 on a much better system than what you get.  But then again, prebuilds with a big name always come with a premium price.

i dont think steam machine wont be a total fail. the only ones that will survive is cyberpowerpc and ibuypower, if they are going to compete with the consoles. a 500$ price tag for the those steam machine is good to compete, but the other over priced machine will fail hard.

With Sony and Microsoft turning to software to make profit from their new systems, I'm wondering how all these different steamboxes will offer the same value with enough profit margin to keep them afloat.

@riotinto876 people who know less and have a lot of money :)

Jokes aside, we won't know until they start selling. Gabe has quite a significant influence on the market, and probably a good plan.
