Very cool, but lighting on skin and water is still not-photo realistic. Wet surfaces and textures have a super shiney glossy look. They picked a challenging lighting scenario though being at night with multiple light sources. Definitely cool to see where things are going.

cool, but the cgi in deus ex 3 looks like that. so the tomb raider cgi trailer. and the hitman absolution cgi trailer. Still, that was impressive.
very very very nice but you would need such a monster of a pc.... i hear they had to make custom cards just to run the demo o.o so yeah its a long way off.
i just saw alot of comments of people saying this looks like trash and not so great...what the f**k are you all smoking? THIS is so close to real...when this started, i thought i was watching a live action video, this is amazing, this is beautiful...this is...Unreal!
So beautiful...this is graphics ive been waiting for, i cant wait to play a game with Unreal Engine 3...
Amazing. Could you imagine the inevitable Gears 4 (they only did say that gears 3 would end the current storyline/chapter) and Unreal 4 running on this? Godd thing I just upgraded my computer with two GTX 250s.
Holy crap once again the focus seems to be on graphics alone.....develop new styles of game play please
Yeah that's pretty good. I thought that was all pre-rendered CGI. I didn't realize that was supposed to be realtime use of the Unreal 3 engine until the end. Not bad at all.
Convince yourselves - http://tinyurl.com/44cjekj
gears just keeps geting better and better hope they dnt make it end with this one.(Make one more!!!!)
Looks neat for an INTRO movie..but hey make that look like ACTUAL GAMEPLAY. Then i'll BUY the game. lol
This tech demo shows some awesome tessellation. I just wish some games would come out with tessellation support like this. The crap consoles ruin the fun for us PC gamers. Devs just keeps dumbing the graphics down in order for it to run on the consoles, which means they exclude the best gameplay feature since physics.. DX 11 tessellation. /rage
i can't wait till g.o.w3 comes out cause when it does i will be one of thosed people who will probably buy it then beat it and then will end up selling the game just because it was an awsome game and worth the playing.
@someGAMEcream: I get that gameplay > graphics for a lot of folks, but all things being equal the games with better graphics will win. As for the unsettling feeling in your gut? That doesn't make any sense. Epic *must* put a lot of effort into the tech demo since they recoup a significant amount of development costs of their new engine by licensing it out. It's their sales pitch to other devs - and just eye candy for us consumers.
My only question....why was he using a blow torch to get that chain off? I mean just based on his actions in this clip, I would assume he'd have the strength to just rip that off? :)
Wow, it looks like more than a couple of light sources overlap, and real multi-sourced shadowing. The sub surface scattering really helps skin look authentic, and great use of depth of field transitions. Maybe EPIC fixed the texture pop-in while they were at it. It's killer to get a peek at some of what the next consoles will be rendering in real time. Is that the whole tech demo or just a piece of it? Can't come soon enough!
people know thats only a tech demo right? there is no game attached to it, at least not yet. they might use elements from there in a new IP but there's no guarantee. either way, epic's engines have always been at the forefront of whats new and great in gaming tech and this looks fantastic
Meh, the pre-rendered fmvs for most current-gen games looks about this good. The tell will be in the gameplay.
ok, the next xbox and playstation needs to look alot better than that. crisp clean 120 fps graphics!
@NTenseify Consoles will never be better than a PC. Never. Also: This footage is from a PC ._.
I imagine he transferred some of his stone power to the cigarette =)
@AgentRebecca IT`s unreal engine 4.
A PC that created footage for a next gen console. Relax dude you sound like a child that just got told Santa isn't real. Next gen consoles are made to last on average 6 years they are always better than an average PC when they first come out but it doesn't last long with the rapid acceleration of graphics hardware we have today so let them enjoy their glory lol
