Unboxing the PlayStation Vita
Join GameSpot Asia's Jonathan Toyad as he unboxes up a Japanese PlayStation Vita and takes you through all the hardware intricacies!
@Suisser I agree. Though, to be fair, they did pick the best target for those advertisements. They wouldn't find better shots anywhere else. Or strategists for that matter.
For sure PS Vita will be the best handheld device ever, but what would be the price tag of PS Vita Games? Is't less expensive or not?
this was the worst unboxing video i have seen its so silly he seemed like he didn't care and know what he was talking about
@theshonen8899 its not that I hate the guy, its the fact that I miss the excitement when gamespot would send people abroad and line up. I mean, they did it with the PSP, hell they did it with the 3DS. The first time came to gamespot was when they sent Ricardo, Jeff G, and Ryan Mcdonald over to Japan for the PSP launch.
Clearly superior to the 3DS, the only reason why the DS dominated PSP was because of a larger variety of good games, now it seems to be the other way around so the price is Vita's main/only issue.
woooooooooooooooooooaaaaah i want that device right now,it seems a little bit bigger than what i imagined, doesnt matter,it still looks amazing
@EmeraldWarrior they wanted to release it for now, but a major natural disaster in Japan earlier this year kinda scuppered that so we just have to wait
@Raeldor is right one of the first in not the first option that comes up on the screen is to select language when you first start up the system
I'm liking what I'm seeing from PS Vita so far, but seems like some bad timing on the release. If it was just 2 or 3 months earlier, Sony probably would have made a whole lot more money due to the Christmas shopping season.
@xan114 Are YOU trolling? Just because it's unboxed in Asia doesn't mean it doesn't potentially have an option to change the language in the system settings. What the hell is wrong with you? Why don't you think before you criticize someone's post! ちょっと日本語をわかりますが私には英語のほうがかんたんです。ばか！
@Raeldor lmfao. are you trolling or are you actually that stupid? this is the unboxing in ASIA. in other words, its the ASIAN console. hence it saying in the video description that GameSpot ASIA's Jonathan Toyad unboxes a JAPANESE Playstation Vita. hope this helped
They aren't really cartridges... They're more-so protected memory cards. As in, the format is in reality not proprietary, they're just rebadged SDHC cards. Sony said they did this because they didn't want people buying like, Class 2 SD cards and wondering why they're having a lame experience. If you've messed around a fair amount with DSLR's, you'll know how much slow read and write performance can affect what you can do.
@leonard88 I think it's because glossy looks classier in press/glamour shots. I'd honestly prefer a matte screen as well as finish, especially considering OLED screens have a really high contrast ratio and literally 0nit blacks, some of that could be sacrificed in favor of an anti-glare display and still look great.
It looks sweet! One question I want to ask Sony though: why do you always go with the Piano Black finish first? People don't like it! Start with the Matte Finish and end with the Matte Finish.
those fools from sony, vita doesn't have a removable battery..... I bet after a while, battery doesn't work anymore and have to sent it back to sony and then get a secondhand or refurbished replacement, what more flaws does this system have,
Very nice unboxing, I hope to unbox my own when it's out in the UK =) The Vita looks lovely, I can't wait.
I dont mean to be a bit$h but I feel that this will end up like the 3DS. Knowing that a PS4 is on the way many developers are going to be focusing on upcoming games for the PS4. Many say that how would this affect it if its coming out in 2013. I feel that this handheld would be having new titles for the coming year of 2012 but once 2013 hits many developers will be focusing their attention on the PS4. Why do I say that I feel that this will be the same way as the 3DS. This is my reason. Although I think that this will blow the 3DS away, many developers focused on games for the 3DS the first day it was announced. Now that the Wii U was announced right after this handheld was released many games for the 3DS were remade or just plan short and boring. I will definitely be buying this the first day it comes out but this may lead me to sealing my 3DS since Xbox 720 and PS4 are coming out soon. Anyway hopefully this will not happen like the 3DS and can lead to be a big hit. Please reply for your opinion!!!
Hmmm, I missed the part in previous coverage that the vita games come on a gamecard/memory stick, that's interesting, I wonder if that's a propritary card? it looks a lot like a sd card... well, atleast they took card of the damned umd's next question on my list, will the battery last as long as the ds'? those were to 2 major flaws with the psp imo... febuaray 22 huh? I think i know what i want for my birthday :)
gunna get me one of these with uncharted. one thing i find funny is sony boys that said ds touchscreen sucks....... kinda strange how they think its a good thing now.
@ABEzilla116 Yea. And I'm sure the 3DS's lineup was great to those who actually wanted to play the launch games. Uncharted is the only game I want to play on the Vita. It's just my taste. I would also want to play Yakuza when it comes out...but I got a PSP at launch and I only had four games on it. I see the Vita ending up like that. Good launch but very weak long term support.
i can wait to have it in my hands but i read some rumors that say it already as problems, i hope they fix them before it comes out to the rest of the world :(
Now that they've changed the name of their portable device, maybe Sony could start reconsidering "PlayStation"? That name never sat well with me
