Maxwell joins Greg Kasavin on the floor of PAX East 2013 for a lengthy play through of Supergiant Games newly announced game, Transistor.
Did you enjoy this video?
first indie game i'll get
Like somebody earlier mentioned, I too could not get into Bastion. I appreciate the art and the sound, but I found the story and the gameplay to be very bland... they tried adding some gimmicks to spice it up, but those are just gimmicks nothing more. I'd be willing to give this game a go, it's certainly a capable studio, I just hope that they got some people with fantasy this time, people who could think of ways to make playing interesting. A somewhat similar title(Torchlight) is one of my favorite games, of course the story there is nothing to write home about, but the gameplay is so much fun that it's hard to pull away... just another floor, really, last one, I promise!
I'd like to play and look for people to hang with in a new launch game. Age of Wushu's first impressions looks good so far.
Still waiting for that review of Bastion Greg!
biggest qualm, movement speed is way too slow for my taste. Which will most likely be the main reason why I won't even bother. And in regards to people saying Bastion 2, I do agree it has a heavy bastion feel to it. And the turn system to me reminds me of fallout 3's auto-target system very heavily in almost every aspect, other than it is a fps, and this is not.
um, like, you know! you know? pft. enjoy the game, i'll pass
So it's basically a sci-fi isometric indie heavenly sword game. I mean she's called RED with red hair instead of Nariko and the blade is called TRANSISTOR instead of "Heavenly Sword". sigh....*
I really want this game... :( Like, if you agree.
ahh. Picture on home page was 1000x more exciting then gameplay
Fun fact: did you know transistor is a video game
Kind of sound like someone Really Needs to get some shut-eye big-time cz his having a really hard time with talking/playing the demo!
maxwell, stop saying "the original bastion". this isn't bastion 2.
drinking game... do a shot everytime he says 'umm'
Wow, it looks great. I can't wait to play it.
I do agree that the running animation needs to be fixed. it is important, cause you will see it all the game. so its better if they made it more fluent or im not really sure what it is. not saying the game is bad or anything. please dont fanboi me.
It's been too long since I played a game in which the main character has inexplicably been given "a weapon of extraordinary power". I want to play this.
I loved how at the 7:00 min of the video Maxwell ask Kevin if players will abuse the turn system, and the game answers him right at that moment.
I know I´m a minority but... I just couldn´t get into Bastion. Technically superb (best sound design in quite a while) but, to me, uninteresting gameplay and story. I´m happy that they have been able to build on that success and work on a new IP instead of going the easy road.Transistor looks interesting... that VATS mechanic looks cool and seems to be a good match to iso ARPG. I guess I´ll have to play and see. Here's hoping it's good!
"...creating that different feeling, making something that doesn't feel quite like stuff you've played recently is really important to us."
We need this ^ a lot more of this ^.
OMG! merging turn-based and real time gameplay is amazing! That is a game that should set standards.
why so tiny is this a multiplayer game? Should be. I suggest 8 players
I think i would have liked a sequal to Bastion more.I have been craving to continue the story since i saw the "not turning back time" ending.
ugly animations. This is a kids game right?
Fuckin hate it when devs announce a game that u know is gonna fuckin own, but leave u waiting a year till u can play it. Rockstar are the biggest perpetraitors of this.
Running animation is meh, rest seems awesome.
nice design.. need to work on the animations though...
Bastion...was kind of boring....it got super repetative. Yes, it had a cool art style and an interesting design, but it was the same thing over and over again. Here's hoping the team learned from their mistakes and can keep it fresh. A friend of mine went to a dance club with several friends, and they met up with a couple of girls, one was gorgeous, the other plain looking. They all throught so at the beginning. But by the end of the night, the all had decided they liked the plain looking girl better because she was just way more fun to be with.
I picked up Bastion last weekend as part of the Humble Indie Bundle, I fell in love almost immediately. Really excited for Transitor now.
Love the design, and love the lead character--gonna be following this real closely!
The artwork is absolutely amazing..
This looks really good! I love the art style and the gameplay looks fun. It would be awesome if it came out on PS3 or PS4.
Is the voice of the sword the same guy as the narrator from Bastion? If so, I loved that guy!
Come to PS3 please
Other than the female protagonist, looking forward to this game
Actually, something about this reminds of the old megaman zero games for the gba.
2 words: simply stunning.
nooooououououuuuuuuuoooooooooooooooooooo! only next year! :(
Game looks gorgeous: retaining the watercolor look of Bastion, but with a Blade Runner-esque sci-fi noir theme. The pre-sequenced combat system is going to require some intelligent combat encounter and enemy design to prevent the game from becoming too easy, but this will just make the game even more interesting and surprising.
This will definitely be sick.
I am so glad Ruckus' voice is the voice of the sword. INSTA BUY
mechanics look solid already.
I want that game! Kudos to Kasavin and his team, because not only they do wonderful games, but they have the courage to do new stories without "sitting" on their previous successes (Bastion), doing a simple sequel. This game looks even more engaging than Bastion itself! When will Transistor come to the stores?
Already being pretty positive I'm going to play this, I actually don't want to watch it, even though I do. :S
Yay for Greg! Game looks excellent.
Game looks sick. Always great to hear Greg again.
This looks so slick. The combat looks really interesting. I was fortunate enough to meet Greg at PAX East last year. A great dude. I'm not surprised his voice is gone, he makes sure to spend time with everyone who comes up to their booth.
This looks great
Greg rules! best gamespot reviewer ever!
Nice to hear Greg again! Glad he's doing so well.
