How far will you go for Rome?
Did you enjoy this video?
Remember the campaign map theme from the first Rome: Total War? Its just heavenly (H) PLEASE put it in Rome 2 also! Brings back so many memories...:
i did not like the times of rifle-ranged weapons. It changes the feeling of the game. They understand what they done wrong. Great game..
As a long time fan of the Total War franchise I can only say that this game looks beautiful, and its only pre-alpha. It brings a tear to my eye, I'm eagerly awaiting its release.
Does look fantastic though, I was under the view that shogun 2 would take a lot to beat, but looks like Rome 2 has cracked it.
I wonder how many times this one is going to crash on my alienware? sigh.
hope the units dont get easily rout.. it's a shamfur dispray...
i look forward to acquiring my copy of total war rome2 and annihilating carthage.
Brilliant, a must have game, I think. Whats with the feathers in the helmet?
Total War Evolved!
Who mixed their cinematic cutscenes into my strategy game?
As much as I'm liking how game tries to make the battles more gritty, I really hope that these cutscenes don't get randomly trigger and get in the way of the gameplay.
Insane, this is going to be EPIC the bad news is I'm going to need new machine or update this one, the sort of good news is that I have time to find money for it, so let's just hope lottery numbers will come
I also love how before any game release the comments section is ALWAYS full of people talking about how amazing the so an so game is going to be and how they love all the games made by such an such a dev team, then AFTER release its full of people saying how crap the game is and that they hate the devs lol.
Total War series are really awesome and I like the immense work and details they put in their games. Unfortunately, it's the "Unit Control Gameplay" that pushes me away from the series and breaks the deal. Too much Unit to control pushes you to automate battles after a while, regardless of how awesome they can be. They should bring a more sophisticated Battlefield control. At first I was quiet glad to see the "Battlefield Map", and thought it was the new way to control units, like you give orders from the map, and then you watch the consequences. For some reason, the map is there just for some info. :/
Why do I have a feeling everyone unfamiliar with the game will play as the Greece because of the Spartans and 300? Although part of me wishes that they are the best infantry unit in the game.
i do like the total war games cant wait for this :)
ALL THE TOTAL WARS WERE AMAZING ACTUALLY I THINK THEY ARE THE BEST IT WILL BECOME NICE AFTER NOPOLEON WAR AND SHOUGAN WARS NOW WE GO BACK AGAIN IN HISTORY I LOVE IT
OK! Even though I love these trailers, let's have some gameplay now. I wanna see what my PC's up against.
So 2013 sometime.
all total war games(especially "Rome, medieval, the expansion kingdoms and empire")were excellent! So i'm looking forward for new Rome (ii)total war..!!!!!
They need to add Hannibal and the battle of Carrhae in the next trailer.
That looks so amazingly fantastic.
@Rat_King, if I was a troll, I would have been happy to get your attention. I agree that "sucking" is too broad a description. Ok: "The game will represent a watered-down, fantasy, sword&sandal narrative, which will have too little to do with historicity to be enjoyable." This is my theory, and it's based on my impressions of what the video considers its strong points for the audience, and on the qualities of all other TW games since the first Shogun, and with the exception of MTW-Viking Invasion.
@MXVIII - it has been modded many times by many people. Even I have done a bit of modding of RTW. The good mods are the reason this game is still played, because the things that are replaced and added to the vanilla game.
@CastorT - I agree. Depth is what the vanilla game will lack most. It's the way CA/Sega work with these series.
i cant wait i want to play it now
As long as the phalanxmen don't act like they can't fight after their phalanx has been broken then I'll be satisfied.
wow. I just can't wait to buy this. I still play RTW. But this... this just looks amazing. My most anticipated game of the year.
to all the people who want this to go to console GO AWAY...console play will limit it on the PC...buy a PC
@peewillydingdon Runescape VS Total War: Rome 2. DISCUSS
@peewillydingdon --Trailer says--- lower end PC's will be able to handle game.
@zombiewarrior07 Antiquities fashion.
@AireeeZ well i think that these things will improve the realistic envoirment that the battles will have and that are not cutscenes, you only can see them if you aproach the camera
@MADPADDY That only happens when the game really turns out to be bad. Total War games are almost devoid of that bad vibe.
@nomailx Yeh why they think NOT being able to use the map for commands is good i just dont know, its the perfect place, atleast give it as an option.
@division_9 Keep in mind that there were several wars with Carthage and Hannibal did not fight them all.
"Hannibal knew how gain a victory, but not how to use it."
@division_9 Obviously will be featured as a historical battle.
Not relevant to your comment I know..
@mossberg0 @MXVIII @CastorT Man, if you truly believe the TW games lack single player immersion and depth and are merely "watered-down-fantasy" games, then you're either 12 years old or have no idea how to properly play these games. I assume you just point and click and hope your army is bigger than the other...damn shame, cause you're really missing out. Like mom used to say, you'll understand when you're older.
If you can't tell, this is a cinematic trailer. In this cinematic trailer, it shows a few ideas of what in game footage will look like. So if you're making all of these assumptions on a cinematic trailer, which shows no real gameplay and gives 0 information on the turn based map, then you're about to learn one of video game life's biggest lessons: never judge a game by a cinematic trailer. Ever.
Also, you do seem pretty happy to get my attention, so I'm still going to infer you're a troll. Maybe you're so good at it you don't even realize you're doing it. It's fair to not like RTS games, but if THOSE are your reasons, then I suggest you just throw out your computer.
@mossberg0 Ah, everyone's a critic. I just love all those broad presumptions your tossing out there. How about you wait and see the final product before you spew out such negativity?
@jamesdvhunt If the controles where right it wouldnt, plus now you can plug in a keyboard and mouse to your system and play so it really wouldnt limit it at all. In reality it would solve alot of issues when it comes to playing it at its best with out having the issues of your system not being up to stuff.
If you want to play a great game that looks insanely great go spend a couple grand on a kick ass pc. But if you just want to play a great game that still looks good go buy a Ps3 or 360.
@Henrique2324 You mustn't go on many forums then, but it happens on any game when the game is out it will be full of people complaining.
@Rat_King , you are giving me so many opportunities to ridicule you, that I stand in awe of their abundance. I suppose I'll give you a break though. Neither will I attempt to prove anything to you - that I'm a troll, or that I'm above a given age.I'll just point out that forming an opinion on me based on my previous comment isn't much less of a rushing to conclusions than my pessimism for the game, if it really were based solely on this video. I have experience with every game in the TW series, starting with Shogun.I'm afraid that after your last adolescent remarks, my interest in you has ran out, and you will have to lose my attention ;)
@Rat_King Never expected to see a conversation such as this here at GS. Kudos!
@pal_080 I'm tossing the best presumptions I have, based on the information available. And I'm tossing them because there is a feature in gamespot's website, called "comments". If you disagree with any of my opinions, you can skip them. If you have evidence that contradicts my expectations, I'll be happy to evaluate it. As I learn more about the coming game, my expectations will adjust, as will everyone's, but for now I don't expect anything different than what we've seen before.
@pal_080 Agreed. We haven't seen much of this game yet, hardly anything to be frank.
@mossberg0 A balance between realism and gameplay is being made, as always with CA's games. It's supply and demand.
We can get some things we want but not everything.
@MADPADDY Yeah, and I'm just saying that franchises like Total War don't get that much hate.
@Henrique2324 I dont recalling talking about percentages,i pointed out how before any new release everyone is talking it up even though they have no idea what its going to be like, then after its full of people saying it wont work, its full of bugs,i hate creative assembly etc etc, thats it.It happens with every game, the creative assembly forum is full of them right now,so is gog.
@MADPADDY Of course I do. There are always people complaining about everything. But the percentage of people praising the game is obviously much higher in games that hit the right spots. Franchises like Total War and The Witcher suffer very little from complaining, as far as I'm aware.
@mossberg0 Ahh, so my point stands that you WERE happy to get my attention? Now I don't know WHAT to believe...
I think more realistically you have absolutely zero opportunities for ridicule, as I said nothing that isn't true. Also I had two options, make assumptions on who you are, possibly a troll, actually giving you the benefit of the doubt, or make assumptions that you're just making things up to sound like you have an educated opinion, when really you're just making yourself look like a biased, close minded troll who judges books by the cover, even if it's from an amazing series.
If you think you're taking the high road by saying you lost interest me when I simply called out your remarks, something you usually do in gaming debates, then I suggest you rework your strategies (clearly they don't work in Shogun 2 either). By ignoring my remarks you come off as afraid to argue because you know you're wrong. Simple as that.
You don't have to apologize or anything. Just acknowledge you're jumping to MAJOR conclusions with no real justification. You can have your pessimistic opinion, just don't shout it at everyone when you can't back it up, cause in that case...we really don't care.
