Total War: Rome II - Battle of Teutoburg Forest Walkthrough
Creative Assembly gives an up-close look at the Battle of Teutoburg Forest in Total War: Rome II.
3 Of the Most Battle Hardened Legions that Rome had an they were Trusted to a Fat Idiot Governor who was the COMMANDER & CHIEF yet he had ZERO Experience leading man. Yeah, I'll Follow the Native German even though he's taking us through the Woods on one Side an a Swampy Marsh on the other but it'll save us a Day or Two. JEEZUS,I Can't believe He EVEN HAD the GUTS To Kill Himself!
"By the gods, a chance to write an alternate history of the loss of the 17th, 18th, and 19th Legions? Count me in." Germanicus
Do they still have Spartans. Used to love backing into the corner of a stage with 3-4 units and taking on 3 full armies. I would just leave them in choke points on the world map and rotate the men when numbers got low. Eventually you would get a fully experience and equipped Spartan army and then just march across the land find a good spot to sit and declare war with everyone and just watch them all fail.
The battles look great but as with all Total War games I eventually just use the auto resolve because after a while or your doing is having these massive battles all the time with 3-4 full armies that last for hours. In the end all I focus on is the campaign map. So I hope they are putting just as much effort in to that.
If you'd actually stop moving the camera maybe we can see all those awesome animations... This is a bad video as we can see much...
GD this looks amazing! I bet this is gonna be a rig strainer, hogging 2.5plus VRAM on ultra. Time to rotate the cards again...
F$#@ink amazing! graphics are insane. "throws wallet at scree" TAKE MY MONEY!!
Man I hope Iberian tribes are going to be playable.
Viriathus should be in the game.
He ran circles around the Romans.
This looks great.
Fingers crossed for this to not bite. I still have more faith in CA than any other dev but there is no such thing as a 100% chance of awesomeness in this world.
Looking at this walkthrough I can already tell that CA has a lot of work ahead of them. Especially in the unit animation department. The units move very stiff when engaged in combat, because it looks like they recorded very few combat actions for them. This can be seen clearer during the cavalary charge. Which was very anticlimactic due to the cavalry men not moving at all on their horses. Though, this is just pre alpha and I'm sure CA are working to imrpove the core of the game, It worries me how they will release on time. I'd rather have them take their time with this one, and release later if it means making this game the best rts there is. No one wants to see Shogun 3 in Roman times.
I still love to go back and play Rome: Total War. And this looks and seems to play freaking amazing! And as @GOGOGOGURT points out, once you play the Total War series, most other RTS's feel like just games.
Love the Total War series! Love IT!
After playing Total War, any other RTS seems like a joke... actually have real armies instead of just 100 units.
Looks bloody good!
On a side note, this is the PERFECT game to make a mod for Game of Thrones. Take note.
@Cybrian Your Damn right Bro! Those Legions were lost the Moment that Fat Idiot Governor VARUS was declared COMMANDER an CHIEF of 3 of the Hardest an Most Experienced Roman Legions. He was a IDIOT, Pure an Simple & new NOTHING about Tactics at all, I mean Zero. Would you or I save a Day or Two by Marching with a Forrest to one Side & a Marshy Swamp to the other? It Breaks an Reinforces SUN TZU's Main teachings, Force the Enemy to Go where u want to Fight basically an Know Thy Enemy but most of all Know Thyself & u will be Victorious in a 1,000 Battles. Damn that FAT IDIOT!
You'll be very pleased to hear that the preorder bonus, just announced, is a Greek States Culture pack which include Epirus, Athens and Sparta as playable factions.
No Greek faction in this game.
The vanilla version of Rome always sucks.
Best wait for mods.
@Hitman_SAm You may be right. Maybe my observation is skewed due to the unsteady play-through of the video. Maybe if the camera was more focused on the battles, I could see CA's progress with combat animations. Perhaps then I wouldn't wonder why they seem under par, at least for a game worthy of the name Rome 2 total war anyway.
@sgt_hunter What kinda specs are you looking to upgrade to? I have been wanting to build a new rig, and this game is at the top of the list, but I get worried that I'm gonna set my sights too low on what kinda machine I'm piecing together.
@morenosuba :) exactly my thoughts, they are making this game better and better.
@TheDebauchee Animations. Seriously ? Like you going to zoom while playing. Its more important to implement more formations, better morale system, better gameplay in the grand map etc. Animations should be the last thing they improve.
@zpluffy piano? canyon?
@GOGOGOGURT you should play both , since you can you build army in battlefield unlike Total War . so both types are good but i love Rise of Nation more than any RTS game
@GOGOGOGURT i play on both ends. total war for huge armies and company of heroes for closer strategy. if you haven't, i suggest checking out wargame also
@focuspuller Not as perfect as CKII.
Thanks for elaborating on my poorly written comment avengerb. To clarify, I happen to think that the texturing is phenomenal thus-far, particularly in the environment settings. My critique was solely based on the movement of the units in question. It is obvious that a lot more work needs to be done to improve the fluidity of the unit motions (otherwise known as combat animations). The way that the units charge into combat, and most importantly the way that they fight as they are engaged in combat, needs vast improvements judging by this walkthrough. I don't work for CA but I would imagine that their animations department is tasked with this matter. I am confident in CA's ability to release worthy games and remain convinced that they are already working to improve the animations, (which I view as the core of the game).
He said animations because, animation frames make the game look laggy or smooth, turns and reaction frames look smoother and more responsive if the animations are done correctly. That is the CORE of the formations and movement. If that does not work correctly you would see high latency in clicks and reactions to commands. he is not talking about Awesome looking Faces ... that is Texturing .. he is talking about animation frames which is a completely different set of things. The Animation department needs to check each animation responsiveness ..for example when you click the charge button the first frame of the Charge Animation and current Frame which could be walking or Halted should smoothly change. If that does not happen then you would see a jerk in the animation or it will lag for a bit an you will feel as if the click you just made did not work..and in the end it will result a bad game play experience.
Well.. i think that's what he meant.
@lightwarrior179 @focuspuller Yo mama is all about battles.
Sorry, couldn't think of a better comeback.
