i know the TressFX should be like a cool feature.. but... NO!
maybe next time when you'll figure out a better dynamics for it coz now its just ..
Me too lol, my computer is about 5 years old, so I can't play most modern games with maximum settings anymore, so I left everything on medium except 2 things, texture quality, up to high, and did the hair thing, thinking it wouldn't drop the FPS much if any, I dropped from 45 to 20, assuming it was the texture quality, I changed it, and got like 1 or 2 fps, it's the damn hair!
jesus christ that hair is really distracting to me for some reason. Guess I should be glad I have to have it off, because I get a drop of like 20 frames per second lol
I mean, it's a step in the right direction but the fact that her pony tail is the only part of her hair reacting to anything when TressFX is on is somewhat disapointing, gonna have to pass sadly.
if this shit is supposed be accurate hair physics then why is it only her ponytail that's obeying gravity?
I LOVE the tressfx effect that it has on lara I mean I have Nvidia and its having problems right now but its a must have, if I want to play the game it has to have tressfx on its unbelievable how much games have progressed on the pc version. Hopefully the ps4 will have this too and maybe in the upcoming years tressfx ON ALL I cannot wait games are making a comeback.
Everytime I see footage of this game it looks like Lara just had the crap beat out of her, blood and muck all over her, not that hair though...pristine :)
To be honest it looks pretty badly implemented and far too 'flicky'. Definitely needs a few more years to develop, but it's a cool tech demo for now, would not use it with the game though.
Granted it's not completely realistic, and it's always perfectly clean looking and shiny regardless of how much mud and water Lara has been crawling through, but it's most probably the best looking hair I've ever seen in a game.
Runs at about 40-50 fps on a 7870 with an FX4100. Totally acceptable.
Btw, loving all of these "omg it r not 100% perfect. FAIL" comments.
Definitely needs more work, but it's good to see that real time hair is starting to take form. Looking forward to this kind of tech in a year or two see what it gives us!
the hair seems too clean , and as for the physics the hair seems to be too light ( gravity pull too soft ) . . .its like they are inside a waterpool or something ,
So, any news on the patch for Nvidia cards? Oddly enough, I read on many forums about people having problems on the Kepler generation (including the newly released TITAN), not just with TressFX but tessellation in general. I own a 560ti and didn't have a single problem, except of course, the poor optimization with TressFX. Swapped in a 6870 to see what was what, next thing I know game is stuttering as hell and crashes randomly. Go figure....
It's definitely something I'd like to see in future 'next gen' type games. But it does need a bit more work. For instance, the flow and cascading of the hair over the shoulders is very nice, but there's an obvious visual border that the hair flows over. It doesn't actually touch the shoulders, more like the air around them. There's also some clipping issues when the hair meets the face. It'll sway into and past the nose, cheeks and eyes. Another problem, which may be down to graphic card compatibility, after an hour or so of gaming the hair will disappear leaving only a brown "bald" skin model and ponytail scrunchy on Lara's head. This only happens when the camera is on a certain angle, but quite distracting all the same.
It's a step in the right direction, but I find it too distracting to use. Also, hair really doesn't move like that IRL...its like...liquid hair.
Its a bit janky with all those physics. It moves too unrealistically during movement (Trailing behind her when it should probably be spreading or bouncing on her back).
The strand count, the better lighting, and the way it gets picked up by the wind is pretty neat though.
Her hair should have a ragdoll effect as in, fall down if she's upside down. Makes no sense to have a more realistic movement if gravity doesn't apply. TLDR version: FFS.
With TRESSFX, Lara's hair looks shinier, softer and more manageable! Perfect for a 21-year-old aspiring TOMB RAIDER! XD
@tonet666 Performance inpact is huge, and its kind of buggy (like the bouncing) and the hair often hovers above Lara's shoulders which can be distracting. But it has good potential, the physics and reflection of the individual strands look nice. I lose over 20 FPS when i turn it on so i dont use it.
@raikiry i agree
@ironphoenix43 I haven't tried myself, but Im pretty sure you can use 360 controller to play it on PC. Maybe the icon changes when you are using one.
@bluefox755 she uses L'oreal , because shes worth it
@Battjas I was wondering if it was just badly optimized as well as buggy, seems like a ridiculous price to pay for hair physics
@qewretrytuyiuoi you sir deserve a medal lol
