Thief - Lockdown Mission Playthrough
Enjoy this pure, unedited, uncommented playthrough of the first mission of Thief.
Hmmm, radial menu, onscreen "push this button to do that"....hoping there's a less console tailored interface in the PC version.
Other than that it seems to have that certain "Thief" feel to it.
As always waiting til after release and read the feedback from press and players, but still hopeful.
I was wondering why he didn't blink his way.. then realized. >.<
When making a direct comparison, Thief's game mechanics are more refined, his movements look more fluid than Corvo.
So far, this does look like a good steal.
Hope Thief turns out to be as captivating and engrossing as Dishonored.
I only watched a few minutes while skipping through the video, because I didn't want to get spoiled.
Being an old Thief fan I think I will go ahead and give this game the benefit of the doubt, especially since it's made by the guys that made the awesome Deus Ex Human Revolution so they deserve that chance.
Gamespot, some of us have this game preordered.
Previews are not enough for you guys.
You have to ruin things by showing a walkthrough of the entire first mission before the goddamn game is even released!
This looks pretty good. It has to be the first footage of the game that actually sparked my interest so far. Now I'm a lot more leaning towards buying this game, if not at launch day, definitely at some steam deal or sth.
Can't wait to put this game on with dark settings & no HUD. He seems to be scaling the walls much more realistically than AC games, plus the environs are to die for. love the way he boosts while be stealthy. Also hope there is a way to read & learn more about the history of the stolen items.
17 minutes to finish the first mission is kind of lame !.....but i will still buy the game on preorder , it is only 30 $ in Romania !
I am amused that not a single Thief game has ever explained how Garrett can keep all those shiny, heavy and noisily tinkling riches on his person.
Still think that Stephen Russel would be a much better Garret, heck, HE IS Garret for all I know. Though, I cannot deny the game is looking to shape up pretty nicely, makes me kind of excited for this game. Not a huge fan of the ultra vision, takes you out of immersion. Garret has a mechanical eye, sure, it has its advantages. But it never enabled him some kind of bat vision. But I guess you can't blame the devs for implementing such feature in to the game, considering that people need to be spoon-fed with information these days.
May actually get this game still, but I cringe every time I hear Garret voice, oh the horror, why not Stephen Russel, WHY?
As someone who never played the original thief series, this has A LOT of Dishonored feeling to it! The London-esque envrionments, the steam-punk, the well crafted atmoshpere, the open ended ways to play and even the wallet pockets on the back! But much more hardcore! Which is exactly what I, and probably many hardcore gamers, want! Dishonored was just waaay too easy even on hardest difficulty. I hope this game truly punishes a an open attack situation (like MGS on PS1 did, but even more so). That would be a great game!
D'awe no tumbler graphic for lock picking? A timer gauge for pick pocketing? Where are the Hammerites? Pagans? Blue zombies? A raspy-voiced drunk guardsman? The original was rich with character. I hope this one isn't just some dry take on my BELOVED series.
Does anyone know if this is X1 or PC footage? I'm assuming PC footage but played using a controller.
This is the awesome that sauce is made of. I wonder how much of the area we watched is fully explorable. Some of the missions in the first three games were massive and took quite a bit of time, and I still almost never found every loot item.
High hopes for this game. I wonder if they'd take a suggestion at this point, though...
If every level manages the same (or better) amount of content/gameplay than it'll be great, looks way better than Dishonored.
If any of it is rushed I'll cry, too many good games get cut up *coughhumanrevolutioncough*. It won't match the original Thief in terms of stealth, but who knows, maybe we'll get an amazing surprise.
@marcosrtc marcortc watches a video called "Lockdown Mission Playthrough". Complains that the video showed mission playthrough. Lol wut?!
@marcosrtc You didn't have to watch it :/
@Gelugon_baat I think too much realism for certain games would ruin the experience...
@zoeyleft Yea I've just been going back and playing Dishonored again and even on hard the guards will not see you if you're over 30ft away even if in the middle of the street during high-noon. Lol it's a little silly, but I fear the AI in this game will be similar, too robotic.
@zoeyleft Agree with you, though, I did play the originals, and they were pretty much like what you just saw in the video, you had the ability to pickpocket there as well. Dishonred felt a lot like Thief in many ways, excluding the superficial powers that Corso had.
Dishonored was a great game and all that, but like you said, way too easy. I have my doubts that they will make this game more challenging. Considering the fact that you can take on enemies now with ease, unlike in the original were they posed a threat, every single one of them ( well okay, maybe not the civies, but the guards and the rest ).
@gamefreak215jd Stealth title which enables battle mode like Assassin Creed isn't a pure stealth game anymore. Just a fighting game with stealth mechanics enabled. But that's what the industry is going for these days. STREAMLINE GAMEPLAY MOAR!
@gamefreak215jd oh yes it will!!
@mishma123 It's PC footage. Squeenix released this footage. You can find the original on YouTube. It's the one uploaded by THIEF titled Lockdown Mission Playthrought. According to the description in the video:
This playthrough was recorded on a PC with fully optimized AMD hardware. Here are the specs, for you hardcore PC gearheads:
CPU: AMD FX 8350
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7970
Hard Drive: 125GB SSD
OS: Windows 7
Controller: Xbox controller
@mishma123 Looks like XBONE. I can't imagine anyone with a PC would play Thief with a controller when they have a mouse and keyboard. That's just silly.
@notjustin With Witcher 3 releasing this year? Hell no!
@Brakkyn I hope there are more places to explore, I hope the hubs are large. But, not getting my hopes up too high :).
