well it's a cool trailer, and it's hard to criticize a game for making an action-packed, eye-catching trailer, even if it's a game that, in theory, is meant to be about subtlety.
Judging by this trailer I think the should drop the name "Thief" and call it an "Assassin". It looks like they've totally missed the point of the game. Here's hoping I'm wrong...
i dont trust to much this new reiteration of thief ( seems like a shallow version), EX : the first mission took only 17 min to complete , kind of lame ....but i preordered anyway because the game is only 30 $ in Romania ( and i have the bonus mission with the BANK ) PS i hate QTE !
@BrunoBRS In all fairness 2:49 of a guy crouching in the dark wouldn't be the best trailer. I know what you mean but you are able to go through the game without killing a single person (aside from cinematic and stuff I assume) and apparently you can actually turn on an option that makes it so if you are detected automatically fails you.

@Tommy7600 Yes I hope I am wrong as well. Many stealth games are portrayed much more as specifically assassination games. They like to showoff the stealth kills as the stealth element, because I guess that's what most people think is cool.
I think there's a fairly large number of gamers out there that want that kind of stealth assassination style. The coolest part is to kill from the shadows, take down multiple enemies at once, with cool animations of course, gotta be "cinematic" right? :) But the other much smaller group want the pure stealth game, where you have to remain undetected because you are vastly outnumbered/outpowered or at some kind of a major disadvantage if the enemy is alerted. The problem is most games, every one I've ever played actually, let you get away with killing or knocking out as long as you hide the body. So people like me or I guess you have to kind of roleplay a bit.
That's one major thing I've always wanted to see, a stealth game where you cannot actually just take out any enemy you want, at least not without consequences, because they check in with each other. There could be different circumstances, like maybe you can interrupt radio comms for awhile, or if you do kill someone and they fail to check in then the place goes on alert, making the level much more difficult unless you manage to get out before the check in time, etc. etc., so many possibilities.
I think enemies being missed by the other enemies is one of the biggest things absent from stealth games, it's something that would just be common sense in reality and especially should be in modern settings where it's probably part of procedure. I commented like this a long time ago and some people replied that there was a game, maybe one of the MGS games.
@hystavito @Tommy7600 There was quite an extensive video on how they're gonna make sure that the "nostalgic" gamers (I'm in that group) can play it the old school way (Advanced settings before starting the campaign - things like no killing, no getting spotted, no focus, stealth takedowns only, no reticle, etc.).
