Thief - Gamescom 2013 Uprising Trailer
Sickness roams the streets. Despair is everywhere. When is it time to say no more? Find out in this Gamescom 2013 trailer for Thief.
I hope this does the Original justice...one of my favourites...Assassins Creed is good...but lets not forget Thief was around long before Creed :)
Can't wait to play this game, it would have been quite interesting to hear Stephen Russell as Garrett. Nonetheless this voice actor sounds great too, although his voice has less bass lol.
It's such a shame. these videos are so awesome and this game looks so fun as a concept and something I would love to play, but there's nothing in video games I hate more than anything than playing as a pair of hands rather than a full person. I love how everyone keeps talking about the game is so much better and more challenging and better to play in first person, but for whatever reason, nobody involved in the game was smart enough to think of the people who just don't care either way and won't play a game unless you can play in third person. Frankly, if you can't make the game great, and intense or challenging in both formats than maybe you guys aren't good enough video game developers as far as I'm concerned. At least that's how it looks to me. Besides, I play for fun and a minor challenge and I wanted to play a game in third person to play as a complete human being not just feeling like I'm controlling a dummy to get him to do things with just a floating pair of hands. There's no creative room for exploration and everything feels so forced and stilted. Gosh, it's so infuriating. But by all means, it's better to play that way and only those people would prefer to play based on the original format and respect the "DNA of the franchise" matter. You couldn't have made the game to be able to be played for both kinds of gamers like Skyrim, considered one of the best games ever made, but, oh well. Frankly, I don't know anyone that can't play a game in third person. I mean are there people who prefer first person, or genuinely have problems with third person? I'm not trying to be hateful but I seriously want to know, because I can't imagine it.
Just so fantastic - hard to wait that long, the Thief series has been one of the best. I too will miss Garrett's original voice.
So it's just named Thief? Seriously? It's not the original, it's the 4th one released, it's a sequel.
I don't require a long drawn-out storyline to play a Thief game. And their attempt at some victorian steam-punk agitated me .
I just want to steal valuables and play with a skill-set that is exclusive to rogues. Pick pockets, back-stab, stealth, assassinate, pick lock, etc.
stop add that idiot slogan "that's yours is mine". This is a remake of the original commercial where it says, but in a far better show-off: "what is hidden , can be found, whta is etc , can etc...., what is yours , WILL BE MINE!!". It sounds different and not as pathetic as that new stupid slogan.
If they do not include steam powered robots I will be a little upset. One of my greatest joy in the earlier games was waiting until just the right moment to send a water arrow right into their furnace and watching them slowly clank to a stop. Good times.
I hope to god it has elements of Dishonored, people who made Dishonored did a good job been inspired by Theif, hopefully Theif can be inspired by Dishonored!
Looks good. They've captured the Thief atmosphere pretty well. I just hope Garret ignores the politics and focuses on the thieving. His persistent neutrality in past games is what always made him interesting.
PS: Diggin the Godspeed You! Black Emperor-esque music in this trailer.
It looks like the premise is some sort of industrial age proto marxist liberation? aka lets rid ourselves of our rich oppressors. It used to be a popular modernist theme in literature but its very rarely been visited in games. Looks interesting.
Too preachy and self-righteous in tone for my taste, but that doesn't mean it won't be fun to play. Still, the gameplay I've seen hasn't exactly wowed me. It does look nice, though, I'll give it that.
I think this game is a sequel to Thief 3! the events must be after the ones in Thief 3 finale, here is why (imo):
"THIS CITY HAVE CHANGED, I HAVE CHANGED" The I have changed mainly - speaks out that Garret has changed from the Garret we know.
Also: "a new age is upon us" might indicate a 4th age? (1st game: dark age. 2nd game mechanical age. 3rd game: also a dark age) so this 4th "age of industry" might be the 4th dark age..
Looking forward to this gem. The game play was sweet. Specially the aspect that you can play with different and variety of ways, and frankly i am bored for Army shooters. This will set my mood back to Fps. loved the graphic though.
From every gameplay I looked, it is looking very underwhelming..especially the AI which kinda breaks or makes a game such as this. Hope I am wrong though.
Garret's new voice is so soft and undetermined and i cant believe they still making this kinda fmv's reveals nothing about gameplay.
Looks pretty damn good! I hope it delivers in gameplay as well as it has some pretty big shoes to fill.
@FinesseGod They named it Thief because it's a re-imagining of the first Thief game, Dumb-ass.
@HugFan Playing as first person is realistic, it's like playing as a human being as you call it. Developers who prefer first person view doesn't mean they lack talent. Third person is acceptable at games, but first person is always better. Also, third person view is like cheating because you can view behind corners.
@SipahSalar No. Thief 3.5: Dishonored
A comment like that can only come from someone who has never played a single Thief game.
@SipahSalar thief 1+2+3+ = dishonored
there, i fixed it for ya
@SipahSalar Dishonored was in fact inspired heavily by the Thief games.
@jordanlynn321 There is gameplay already out. Just look for it.
@foojam @HugFan I understand your point, but I don't believe first person is automatically better, that's just a matter of opinion, and I don't believe third person is automatically cheating since I do believe you can make a great stealth game even with being able to move and view around corners as I believe it does heighten suspense, but for those who severely cannot play a game in first person, which is possible, as I suppose it is for people who play in third, although I can't imagine a person having a problem controlling a full person, whereas trying to be more immersing with realism, does seem like it would pose more problems to me, and I can't play a first person game very well and I know other people who can't either. Plus, I just genuinely wouldn't want to even if I could. I want to explore a world and work with a third person character just become some other dude or work like I'm playing like it's Freaky Friday and I'm in a body I'm not familiar with. Although yes, you can have a great deal of suspense in first person, it can also be infinitely more infuriating because of the frustration it can provide. I just don't know the same problems with third person, except people possibly getting dizzy, but that's the main complaint I hear about first person, too, so it varies drastically, but either way, as I said, why the heck couldn't they have just had two different ways to play the game, like DVDs that let you choose fullscreen or widescreen. Like Skyrim, only the whole game one way or the other.
@HugFan Example of a great 3rd person : METAL GEAR
