"Did you miss me?"
Actually... no. Never got to playing the earlier games, for some reason. But this might be a nice opportunity to get aquainted.
I see NOTHING that made the lat three games great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUUX2181BvM
I just watched a game commercial in order to watch a game commercial. If you are so worried about selling me things then realize my collection on your website is over 150 pc titles and stop showing me children console games everywhere including my search results.
From what I've seen, it seems they've abandoned the supernatural elements and gone for a Dishonored-style plot. Given that the best missions in the Thief series were The Cradle and The Haunted Cathedral, this is not a good thing. I don't want to fight another boring conspiracy as in Dishonored.
I honestly cannot tell if Thief will cater towards it's fans or towards the broader appeal. I cannot tell if the character is driven by his weakness of greed, or if he is just a typical caricature of a 'cool' protagonist.
Arghh, please be good, game. Please be ambitious.
This is the series that Assassin's Creed copied. He even looks like Garrett. I had tons of fun with Thief 1 and 2. I never got around to playing Thief 3 but will now.
Will follow this.. as a fan of the old games.. as long as they have retained the gameplay of original and not gone for a cinematic experience, this should be fine..
here's hopin they reboot the commandos franchise.. not soul reaper tho.. that still plays very well given its age.
Ok, man garret is rusty. In both trailers he keeps getting caught, chased, and shot upon. What happen to a Ghost Run/No alarm run?
I hope they don't focus too much on action. Which I worry they will. Garret is a thief not some assassin that kills anyone who spots him, thats bad for business!
The game, sadly, will not be pc only so there is a good chance it will not be good as the first 2. The third was just ok. If they decide to appeal to casual/console gamers it will definitely suck. Let's wait and see.
@Defenseman13 I'm hoping that will not be true. Seems they've retained some of his features, however I also fear they're turning him into a ninja. He was simple thief, albeit, a good one.
@LinuxXx like all trailers do 0.o
@X-RS LOL it really look like a fragrance commercial!
@VXCOM Actually it looks like Thief, a game that existed 10 years before Assassin's Creed
@digiMyth I agree. This game got raped. The lead level designer even said that it's a "reboot" with a different "narrative".
@jesusmartin23 who the heck cares about your tiny little PC collection .... small by PC standards ... no it's offensive snobbery which believes me to think you are one of those children.
@jj2112 THe Cradle is one of the greatest levels EVER, in any game. This crap looks dumbed down and completely devoid of any imagination, lore, backstory, factions, etc.
@Sardinar We're doomed, I suspect. Bastardization much like Hitman and Fallout remixes.
@Sardinar I think that has always been the question, probably on purpose. I experienced this with the previous game.
@Shadow-Phax DO it. ANd give the cradle my regards, it will surely remember me. It will remember you.
@madglee Dude, I can't tell either. Let's hope it stays faithful to it's predecessors.
@madglee It's made by the same people that made Deus Ex: Human Revolution so it's going to be faitful for the old PC games even though it's also on the next-gen consoles.
@Lipniceredeemer As if he is this different. I think after 9 years, he will have some attitude. As for the voice acting - it's pretty good. I do miss Russel.
@koraykorac 2 words. Get lost.
@foojam I mean, they are a company after all (A very big company, who has a track record of making games available to every platform)... They don't make games purely for peoples' enjoyment. They create them to generate profit, so I am pretty damn sure this is going to be available for all consoles as well. Casual games with a broader audience just gives them so much more room to satisfy their greed.
@Fastphase1 @madglee I was hoping that until I saw the developer talk about how the game would not be pure stealth, but a lot of action (read dumbed-down console the way Hitman was destroyed), how they couldn't use the original voice actor because he couldn't do his own stunts with motion-capture, despite Bioshock:Infinite doing exactly this with the supporting character, and how the entire storyline of Garrett was altered and his motives changed with no explanation of the events in prior games.
The developers forget that the people who can't wait for this game are the old-school fans, and as such, the game needs the original Garrett, a huge amount of stealth, and a great storyline. Not a bunch of "Press X" quick time events and lock-picking mini-games.
@madglee Yep. THe level designer also went on about the "narrative" being different and it being a "reboot" and a complete reworking of what Garret is. In other words no imagination, atmosphere, or gameplay.
I personally always wanted this game to be a true mix of 3rd and 1st, like Thief3. With the cloak flying in the wind with realtime physics like Batman AC cape. A hood that cast shadow over your face, and that you can actually see in FP. and more.
@foojam Your wrong mate
