That's one way to build up your own game's hype. Still they seem to truly believe in themselves, and that's something worth believing in.
Well, CD Projekt must be proud because they made a great job doing this trailer and that's what makes the difference from one company to another. Still don't know if the game would be good or not, but that's a very good start and it's a reflect of the compromise they are taking on the game. I think that trailers must be better than they usually are, just like movie trailers with a great work behind them and companies like 343 and this one are doing great moves in that way of filming instead of staying in front of pc and editting videos. That's the way of doing good stuff and if it's surrounded by the beautiful landscape of Scotland and its magic music, it's just great
Okay, so the game looks great but holy shit that has to be one of the most pretentious game trailers I have ever seen. The industry is a cash cow now so I get the desire to spend money advertising and having, more or less, movie trailers for games that come out (Assassin's Creed, anyone?) and this and that but I honestly don't think i've ever seen a more pretentious game trailer ever.
I hope it's good!
Ok I'm officially drooling. Now they just need to live up to the hype they've created. The best thing about the first two games was the story. I hope W3 will improve on the menu interface, combat mechanics and controls. A big open world will be appreciated (with stuff to explore of course).
A good RPG has a good story / characters, open world exploration, equipment customization, exciting combat, sensible leveling system, and good loot. Very few have succeeded in all aspects. Skyrim comes close.
I kind of don't like this trailer. So much of it is live action film of people talking about the game in really awesome locations instead of actual gameplay footage. Spending a bunch of time in a helicopter giving us pretty footage of stuff that's almost certainly not in the game seems kind of misleading. However, I'm still excited about this game and hope/half believe these guys can deliver.
Around 0:45 on that trailer.....somehow I almost expected to see Connor MacLeod and Ramirez sparring somewhere over there....!
Bold statements often exclaimed by many developers. But coming from the lips of CDPR, they're being bloody modest.
Best trailer I have ever come across. New, fresh and quite believable, compared to the Trailers that come with the "not actual in-game" content warning! Quite the personal touch. Sweet.
Oh my goodness. Im a huge skyrim, oblivion, fallout fan so I cannot wait for this.....it looks ungodly...
Worst.........trailer.........EVER. Seriously man, I don't want to watch some nerd dev holding a pinecone, show me GAME.
Im just gonna die of excitement after viewing this trailer.thats people who love there jobs for you. chapeau bas CD PROJEKT RED.
I was surprised that it was announced for XboxOne, but not entirely unexpected. Though CDProjektRed detests DRM, they simply wanted to get the game to the people - and they will despite Microsoft's bullshit.
Thank you, CDProjekt.
It's too bad they won't release it on the 360 and PS3 as well.
Loved The Witcher 2, but I won't be buying a next-gen console anytime soon.
Best trailer for a video ever. Good to have the staff who work on the game talk clearly about it and mean it.
@faizan_faizan It cuts in and out between CGI and Realtime.
@TransvormerSCol Skyrim was horrible. This looks very good.
@TazmanianD agree with you. i don't want to see devs talking abt how great the game is going to be. They should hv included actual gameplay footage instead.
@steve4steve right there with you!
@vfibsux You are THE reason we got Dragon Age 2....Please give me CGI and pr bull crap and ill buy no matter what, and I dont care at all about the LOVE poured in by the developers, just give me CGI CGI CGI!!!
@vfibsux Could not agree more. I would guess 2 of the 5 minutes depict sweeping shots of real life vistas, with MAYBE 1 minute of actual game footage. Why bother? I didn't get to play the first Witcher game, but I loved The Witcher 2. I'm not panicking about this game, or anything, but this has to be the worst trailer in the history of ever.
@vfibsux Haha true but you have to say CD Project has a passion for there games... Honestly I wouldn't be that surprised if this game ends up blowing Skyrim away. But honestly I'm a huge fanboy when it comes to the Witcher 1 and 2 and CD Project.
@ndstrgt he did seem to struggle a bit cutting through those bushes
@b0sse I Hope, when the time comes, you can muster up enough loot to purchase one, because it looks incredible.
@b0sse Well on the plus side, its not out for a year. So while we're all gnawing our fingers off waiting for it, you can save your pennies for a next gen console. Or a halfway decent PC, even better. I feel for you if you don't get a chance to play it. I expect it will be epic.
well skyrim was first person game, and witcher is third person. that is one difference. second is that skyrim was made in 2011, correct me if I am wrong, and witcher is new generation game, that include new engine better graphic and etc. it will be like comparing first 2D mario, and 3D mario. and if we look gameplay of this two games it is almost same. magic, weapons, horses, some kind of beasts, and etc. it is normaly that witcher looks good. but some new games like BF3 and new one 4 become linear and boaring and unplayable becouse of improving graphic part of game. last witcher was 14 to 15 gb big. thik how this one will be large. all thanks to graphic and new improvements. :)
I think you misread what he wrote. He didn't ask for CGI. He wanted to see, "GAME." While he isn't individually "THE" reason anything happens in the video game industry, people like him that think critically about the products they consume are why Dragon Age 3 will likely turn that series around, and why The Witcher 3 will be outstanding, this goofy trailer not withstanding.
@Them_Apples Because they love what they do..How yould you like it if somebody said GTFO this game has nothing to do with you!!! And you bleed hours and hours of time into it. Hemorrhaging energy day after day and somebody told you to f off because your ugly. These Devs. are transparent and honest. And you ask them to get behind closed doors. Shame.
@Them_Apples I respectfully disagree. There are a ton of pre-rendered animated trailers that look badass and have zip to do with the actual game or gameplay. And there are a ton of people who get hyped over those. The kinds of people who think those games are awesome get hyped by the trailer even though it has nothing to do with actual gameplay. The kinds of fanboys who are trying to preorder witcher 3 _today_ are hyped by watching the super passionate, super nerdy CDPR guys talk about their art form. It serves the exact same purpose. And in both cases you will get gameplay heavy trailer once we get closer to release. You won't get solid gameplay trailers this far out, so there are only so many options.
@Them_Apples @jimrhurst I'll grant that its silly almost bordering on pretentious, and that there is only limited game information conveyed in this trailer. But the original poster claimed it was the worst trailer ever, and that's just silly. It is different, but I would say on par with, most major E3 trailers for games >12 months out. That is, a handful of very short in-game scenes and some "hype content" that has very little to do with it. Trailers in general are solely meant to generate buzz.
And I doubt it was a real wolf. Runt wolf, if so. Probably a Siberian Husky or something.
@jimrhurst @Them_Apples Also, lets be real here: If the devs wanted to communicate how excited they are about their game, it could have been done without the mostly irrelevant camera pans, and the wolf shots. (WAS that a wolf? I have seen wolves in captivity that were nearly twice its size.) I don't object to hearing them talk about their game. This just had ludicrous amounts of filler.
@jimrhurst @Them_Apples You make some fair points, but I think the point is that E3 is a time when companies tend to make big, sweeping reveals, and this comes off as quite silly in that context. Their passion definitely comes through, but their passion comes through in the quality of their games, so I don't really need to see a video filmed in Scotland for them to show that off. Especially not at E3. Again, not ragging on the games themselves. I LOVED The Witcher 2. I just think the trailer is dumb. (Also, in fairness to me, I ALSO think the pre-rendered only trailers are dumb.)
