The quality of this video is not too good. I saw this on other sites and it looks a lot better. I, for one, was impressed when I saw a high quality video of this gameplay.
You can't ask them to reinvent the wheel here,it's a sports game for crying out loud. We as well as the critics happen to like the previous gen of basketball
The ball still passes through people's heads and bodies. You would think after 7 years, this issue would have been fixed by now. I'm wondering if they finally fixed the Gametrack stat issues? Where a whole full quarter disappears. The only that was improved with NBA 2K14 is the A.I., graphics and some animations. The game is pretty much identifcal to NBA 2K13. Definitely not Day One purchase. Wait for the price to drop to about $30 or less before you waste your money on this game.
Well, visually i think this looks way better, it will get better, it's just a port to ps4 right now from ps3
Why do they keep letting this guy review games? He should be taking out the garbage or cleaning toilets.
I wanna try a demo of every ps4 game in the store before I waste my money, just cause 2k14 on ps3 and batman arkam origins was a let down, don't see it getting any better
id say wait till about 2K16 for eye busting. 2K14 games arent going to bust the eyes, first gen console games never do.
Still amazed at the detail of NBA 2K14 for this gen though. its pretty epic. Theres still no other sports game that i play full quarters like NBA 2K
we should go back to the days of Atari 2600 when crying was minimal. Seems now everybody is always dissatisfied with everything.
I'm kinda disappointed with the 5 on 5 gameplay of the next gen 2K14, it feels like the current gen. Well as time goes by it'll get better, I'm pretty sure when they release 2K15 or 2K16, we may see more realism in gameplay. It's pretty much like what happened in PS3. When they launched 2K7 it plays like PS2 but when they released 2K9, the gameplay is much more fluid.
Everybody is talking about the graphics and gameplay (for good reasons) but what about the commentators? The commentary in this game is hands down the best I've ever seen (heard) in a sports game ever...it makes the game so much more authentic and immersive and I can't wait to see how NEXT GEN can improve this area even more!
I don't even know how NBA Live wants to compete with 2K Sports, the battle seems already lost.
Give it a year or two, damn. Look at the first year of games of this generation compared to now....This is just filler nonsense for the sake of having something to write.
There's still that large gap between the jersey and the player's torso, some physical contacts still aren't very convincing like bosh tapping the back of LJ's head. But this is all just the beginning, this looks mighty promising.
i thought that we would stop seeing those dumb animations where they go in to touch one another and their is this gap between hand and said body part. this happens in fifa all the time its immersion breaking for me.
Are people thinking the first part of this trailer is the actual graphics?? The first part is def the current gen 2k and when it gets to the warriors game its next gen. There is a huge difference between the player models. Even Mark Jackson looks like he was ripped off a ESPN tv broadcast. I can't believe some of the things i have read.
Plus this reviewer is welcome to his opinion, but there are more to the game than just a face lift. It has new modes and all new tech. This is just a impression from playing for 2 quarters. Wait for the full review and open your eyes.
I'm not sure what you was expecting, you said yourself the graphics and detail is amazing, i mean were at a point where there ain't much more that can come from the gameplay, tweaks in animations and the ability to detect contact and thats about it, they ain't got much else to work with on a controller. plus it's only launch. i'm not expecting the gameplay buttons to massively change at all.
Zelda Wind Waker HD is already more innovative than any other upcoming game in PS4 and XONE, just because the new Wii U controls.
Well, the next generation of games can only improve the graphics. How can they do different games if there are always only the same input buttons? can they move in a different way than using the analogs? can they do something different than press B to throw the ball?
No... inovation is a terrible thing... look what is happening with the WiiU, when you try to innovate the way to play...
How can the games change with the controllers of the PS and XBOX limiting the players to the same input type?
What were you hoping for the PS4? Better graphics? This is innovation for you?
shouldnt the title be "next generation of games is a lot like the last one"? you cant exclude all the other thingies coming out and give it to the sports games, its not like a sports game can change radically from what you can see on a real sport match on the t.v....
Ok, now im waiting for a 789th iteration of tetris with HD version of the HD version of the plus version of the best version. then again i rather play dead. "me zombie :D" there, i did.
@OurSin-360 Not familiar with NBA Live 14 yet? I mean, it's not even worth knowing about, but it does exist.
@blackace thanks for the heads up
@blackace or go for NBA live 14 which is coming out only on Xbone and PS4 so has the potential to be truly next gen...
@Sw1tched It's a completely new game, not a port. Totally new game modes
@LOL247 Let the butthurt flow through you...TLOU deserved that score and you know it...
@LOL247 Because everyone who's bad at reviewing games should be cleaning toilets?
Also, exactly where is he wrong here?
@Karmazyn *graphics are
@novak2k6 Criticism is necessary in the entertainment industry. Having standards isn't a bad thing.
@novak2k6 I'm actually compelled to agree with him on this one. After seeing insanely impressive games like The Order, Second Son, Watch Dogs and more I expected a whole lot more from a basketball game that, in my eyes, has a lot less to contend with graphic wise because essentially the character models are all playing on the same surface with nothing more than a swap of the center logo, team colors and the different stain of the parquet.
This means that the characters, cloth simulation and so forth should be almost flawless but I still see jersey's floating above character's shoulders and robotic, lifeless animations when characters aren't dribbling the ball.
But as he states in the video, maybe next year will be truly next-gen. But do developers have enough time to make a truly eye-ball busting game? Is one year enough to truly update the look to where we can barely tell the difference from reality to game.
I don't think we're whining, I just think expectations are high but I will agree that we're a bit jaded. We expect perfection when in reality we need to just sit back and chill. It's not like I have the talent to create a basketball sim as elegantly designed and executed by 2K.
Speaking of 2K Games, when are they gonna do a remake of the PS1 cult-classic hit "One"? I loved that game!!!
@waffleiron88 Agree. 2K and EA has shown off trailers for sports games like NBA 2K and Madden, detailing the blades of grass and overall finer detail on player models. Problem is you're playing the game with the camera 100' above the stadium. At that distance, few of the improvements will even be noticeable.
I held off buying 2K for the current gen systems because the XB1/PS4 version will be my 2013 purchase. Not expecting huge leaps in gameplay given that developers were working off of unfinished console hardware and software. It should come as no shock that the XB1/PS4 versions are just improved graphics layered on top of the 360/PS3 engine.
Next year is when we'll start to see real improvements in gameplay.
When Madden 26 and 2K15 come around, I suspect the 360 and PS3 editions will be little more than roster updates. From this point forward, studios will probably focus 90% of their development efforts on taking advantage of the Xb1 and PS4 capabilities.
@waffleiron88 Better AI, better controls?
Maybe some better guns. A duel wielding mode. Some better magic spells. And a better leveling up system. Also the dialogue is a bit weak.
@Brad-Ridge I agreen 100%... takes me out of the game for a second
@lucaslla Is it necessary to start a console war again? Even in a basketball game article?
@lucaslla its still a remake, not enough to save the wii u, a new zelda is what needed to happen
@lucaslla That's interesting in 2004
@se007 maybe it's because game is muddy crap, it looks just the same as ps3 version from last year.
sure it is a remake, but it cares for people that have not played the game? have you played the game? i think the big majority don't played the game.
but of course, i want a new zelda. this game is just an exemple of how a game can be more innovative than the ps4/xone games just changing the controls.
