Graphics are some of the best of any mmo. It's the video with bad graphics, game graphics are amazing when scale is taken into consideration. This game's trailers are just recorded poorly. In game graphics are much better than games such as wow, even with cataclysm.
I must say that the graphs in this trailer look awfully old and outdated, but you can't judge a book by its cover, right? I might give the trial a shot, see what the game is really about!
I do apologize Mixx, it just seemed like the person I responded too was expecting this game to look like current releases coming out, while LOTRO is undoubtedly one of the best looking mmo's out right now, it is not really going to be up to par with the games the previous poster was trying to compare it to.
@TJamesA: Yeah, it is 2 years old. If you see outdated graphics in this game, you really need to upgrade your videocard so you can handle DX10. You cannot expect to run this level of graphics on a card that is ok for something alot simpler, say WoW. There are games out there with more complex graphics but this game is rendered beautifully (wich is easy to see if one just do an image google), has great locations, superior storyline and lore, masterful sfx and music and above all a more mature community than just about any of the other big MMO's out there. Dying? Yeah, you wish. Dream on.
I have not played LOTRO. How i read game is good it's not better than wow (for me) but LOTR got many fans who are play LOTRO so don't post that game sucks.
@gfile I agree that LotRO's trailers don't look very good most of the time, and they don't do the game justice. As a player of the game, I know that in-game graphics look better than this, mainly because of better lighting on the environments. For some reason, the graphics in those trailers always have a washed-out look. The engine supports DX10 however, and the lighting effects are pretty good actually. Even so, you shouldn't judge the game on its graphical looks alone. If you're a LotR fan, I highly suggest you give the trial a shot, I'm pretty sure you'll like it (if you're into traditional MMO's that is). It's a huge gameworld that's fun to explore, with strong storytelling and a staggering amount of things to do. It's very PVE focused though, PVP is somewhat limited. Cheers, Tom.
What in hell is with the graphics, it doesn`t match the now-a-days demands?! This game looks like made on the first 3d engine used in games, Doom perhaps...damn, and i am a LOTR fan:cry: They could at least took a peek at dragon age origins or age of conan ...thats how the graphics should look like. I am hugely dissapointed in visuals so i am gonna skip this game for sure:(
Got the Adventurer's Pack and am still waiting for the download to finish =D Can't wait. Been hearing good things about it from a friend that's already tried it.
Nice, can't wait! Bought it, downloaded it (ready to install) and looking forward to playing! Official Euro release is currently the 3rd of December (if all goes well with the US patch). link for *EURO* Siege of Mirkwood standalone torrent patch. http://twitter.com/LotRO_Europe
