The Last Guardian Interview: Fumito Ueda
We talk with Fumito Ueda about his enigmatic forthcoming game.
I wish a lot more game companies thought like this...I don't mind waiting for quality...That's why all of his games are classics in my book...I'm sure this game will also be worth the wait.
Then they saying ... "graphics" dont matter !! OH YEAH they are... Havent seen anything like it, ever !! This "animal" is so lovely and real im speechless. The whole atmos
@pierre233 get a life man... id like to see you do better. and maybe she has an accent cause shes not english?? -.- anyway this game looks amazinf SoC was breathtaking so i hope they do the same with this!
Interesting thing. It might be true that we wish to have a cuddly pet to take care of. Some might not be able to due to job situations and so forth. Now, the more interesting part, what is the story? I can't even try to predict what this story could be about, except the relationship between a guardian and a little boy who learns to trust each other. Who cares about the girl translating this? Be glad there is ONE AT ALL. Sheesh, complain so much, do it better yourself.
This has taken me some time to work up to lvl 3 to be able to post on this video, but your translator REALLY needs to go. She has ruined at least two reviews for me so far. This was to the point where I had to create a login and raise my lvl to be able to comment on the video itself after 15 years of just casually browsing the site without creating an account! She is horrible, unintelligible, has a terrible accent, and struggles every couple sentences. Terribad Gamespot.
Contrary to popular belief I see the boy making the sacrifice of himself to save the creature rather than the other way around. We have established a trend of animals sacrificing themselves for humans in multiple mediums and seeing that this is Team Ico I can't help but believe that they will take the opposite route than that expected. Either way I'm wishing this game well wishes and godspeed.
well at least i'll have the HD collection to look forward to first, so i won't be waiting forever for this one. although i'll probably want it more after finally playing those two games i missed. i was always PC, but ps3 has some sweet exclusives man.
i hope this one comes out by 2012. 2011 release wouldn't be good idea because their are a lot of PS3 exclusive. by justing buying PS3 exclusive game i will be spending nearly about $600 or more + move which is $100 = avg $700 + multi platform game $300 . avg i will be spending about $1000 on 2011-- just for game ..... hmmm........ !!!!! how will i afford them all ???????
@Janpieterzun well its not about having a good story, its about creating a unique experience and feeling that you could only have through an interactive video game. Very unlike the experience of watching a movie, or reading a book. Because video games have the power to tell stories in a very different way than movies and books. And very few game designers seem to understand this concept. maybe you fall under this category of people? Idk why you hate Japanese games, or why on earth you would group this game in with every final fantasy clone to ever come out of japan, but its sounds like your only excuse is pure ignorance.
Never played their games can't wait for the HD pack and this game looks great. I regret not playing their games... stupid xbox.(I neglected PS2 like a moron)
@Janpieterzun yeh, because CoD xx and Halo xx are so imaginative and new .. shoot ppl in the face, move along ..shoot more ppl in the face ...wait, something epic is gonna happen now, good ..its over now now move again and shoot more ppl in the face fun stuff
Japo-crap that will have good controls, graphics, with no discernible story. It will make japophile's happy because its from japan so it must be cool. Otherwise another pretty unimaginative rehash from the land of the rising sun. Haven't seen a good japanese game in ages. Everything has become just whitewashed. So Shadow of the colossus meets Ico?
You don't have to apologize to us for the wait, Ueda. I'd rather have one of your masterpieces to play every few years than to have you pump out rehashed annual sequels like so many others in the industry. I'm not saying sequels are bad, not at all. But your games are the beacon of light in a sea of first person shooters.
looks awesome , the graphics looks cool and real , i hope there will be some hard gameplay actions like bosses and stuff like that :)
It's so weird how real the creature looks and how cartoonish the boy looks. Almost confusing. Can't wait to play it.
At about 0:38 to 0:59 do you see those spears all over the gryphon's body? looks painful and cruel, what kind of sick bad world are they living in? I hope when you play through it, it explains all of this stuff. This looks brilliant and the Gryphon is so lifelike with it's animations aswell as the good graphics, but it's cool that they've mixed the boy's cartoony like graphics with the Gryphon's life like look.
Anyone else notice that the Chihuahua gryphon is missing it's right horn on it's head? It looks filed down or something. Maybe it'll be part of the story or something. Thank goodness for developers like Team Ico. They put out some quality stuff.
Looks like it's going to be disappointing...still going to pick it up but I don't know if it will hold my interest.
@DoomZaW I see what you're getting into. Pretty much reasonable argument you make and I agree. We can discuss those games objectively. Afterall "Shadow of the Colossus" recieved only 8.7 on gamespot. To me it deserves at least 9.7 because I don't think of it as a game, but a masterpiece of art. Luckily for you, not playing it before means you have the chance to experience it for the 1st time in higher resolution and maybe inhanced controls!
