This game really sucked. I traded it in the next day after I got it. I was like omg I just wasted 60 bucks on this garbage. The character's look good but the lack of character roster and no replay value and no epic boss battle either. Pretty lame, this game deserves a lower score.
This review does kinda suck but I don't think any of the KOF games had much content...it was simply about picking from one of the 10,000 characters on their roster and fighting!
The graphics were nice but the characters were a little too large on screen. Music and voice acting was weak! Definitely not worth a full game price tag and I couldn't even find a match to play someone online. I want a KOF collection with online play and some updated graphics for widescreen tv.
the grapfics in this one is good but it just doesn't play like a kof game. it lacks the smooth and fast-paced gameplay of kof series, and the size of the characters is so big that I've always wondered if this is kof. fortunately they fixed these problems in kof xiii, which is awesome btw. i've been playing kof since 10 years ago and don't wanna see its end. so keep up the work snk!
This game is really good in offline versus mode with a friend or friends. The new gameplay make this KOF feel really fresh and solid and a LOT of fun. Too bad these days, a fighting game is judged on its SINGLE player content.... Anyway, i play online also, add me on Xbox, gamertag: Violent Ryo
The only story they got was this series took place in the year 1995 (according to their age in the data). So what's with going back to this time, like hanging from no where. When KoF was once a year that time and already had '94 & '95. Haha, I like the Video Review last part, "You Lose". I don't know they just happened to put it this way or not, but it suited very well for the message I was thinking about. :P I still love the older series better.
Pity----i cant really think KOF got into this point...i always enjoyed so much playing with it....like Capcom Vs. games...if they were trying to make something good i guess they should at least have included more characters, specially knowing how "demanding" Mai is.....really shame, cause i used to love this game....but guess not even here in Europe is going to be so popular this time......good graphics, but just not so good overall...
i gotta say the movement looks great and so do the specials, but it seems TOO slow paced.does anyone agree?still i love fighting games so im gonna rent the see if i want to buy,i remember the one for xbox that had like 40 plus characters(cant remember the title) and that one was great.
i have kof maximum impact for ps2 and it was a cool game, very detaild even the girls boobs lol, it was fun and looked great, so what the heck is with this one because it looks streetfighter
never really played a KOF game but after seening this review im happy i havent and is dose not look as good as good as blazblue or marvel vs capcom 2 !! but i must say the back ground grapics look amazing but thats all i really saw that i liked.. but other then that the game looks boaring!!
Ok well ive heard some complaints about the offline modes and some people have issues with the aliasing. If you like CvS then you wont care and it doesnt look that bad. As far as this review goes i think the reviewer is just a bit bent over having no Mai. I mean i would love to see an updated version of Mai bouncing around but to say it cant compete against other games because it doesnt have enough characters is ridiculous. Online is pretty critical these days especially since arcades are more or less dead but if youve never played KoF and you like 2D fighters I think it should at least be worth a rental.
nice game to play with your friends...looks like street fighter mortal combat old ones etc....i like this game..
plys stop the 2D games!!!! i have powerfull console for what!!! for that i go play Snes and genesis(mega drive) again
Those backgrounds look really distracting. I could barely tell what the hell was going on in that one level that looks like a market. It sucks that this game has received such poor reviews, though, I was really excited for it. I'll wait for it to hit the bargain bins I guess.
Guess you just have to be a big fan of both fighters and KoF games. I've been passing the series for a while for was never big into it, was too busy playing Street Fighter and MvC games.
Check out 2:04, it cracks me up, the women in the red. HEHE. I love......assests. Looks actually pretty lame.
i still have fatal fury 2 for sega genesis and wanted to buy this one to see the difference but maybe i wont anymore........
this is a really lame review hands down.as for kof the biggest mistakes in this game is the lack of story mode and the bad online multiplayer which makes you download a 700plus mb file just to play online.and the worst part is you have to wait until you get a slot to play(don't know if you can watch matches while you wait though).as far as the story goes this game should have continued where kof xi left off, where ash crimson defeats iori and steals his powers(the reason for iori's moves being changed in kof xii) and obtains iori's blue fire and is on the brink of stealing kyo kusanagi's powers as well.but we may never know what happens because there's no story mode in this IMO unfinished kof title.so here's hoping that SNK pulls up its socks and releases the full version of kof xii very soon indeed.
Gamespot reviewers are completely unbalanced when it comes to reviewing fighting games. Sometimes they are open minded and accepting, and at other times it appears that they have some variety of vendetta against them. For instance; KOF XII gets reemed by this (awful) critic for its lack of characters (22). However, neither BlazBlue nor Street Fighter IV received any such criticism yet Street Fighter IV has the same amount, and BlazBlue only has 12! I agree that it was fantastic that games like Marvel Vs Capcom 2 and KOF 2003 could have 50+ characters, but this is merely because they we reusing sprites and graphic sets from other games. The work and same required for such tasks is extremely minimal. Consequently, when completely reworking and redesigning as KOF has done here, obviously limits must be in place on how much information they can store and how much art they can finish. The game looks amazing and is a breakthrough as far as I'm concerned for the fighting genre. Furthermore it has a completely competent fighting mechanic. Indeed the modes are somewhat limiting (which is often the case with fighters) and the online play is less than stellar. These facts make it at the very least a 6.5, and in my book a 7.5. And I'm sure they are hundreds of people in the world who would kill for the chance to do a video review for Gamespot, and would actually show some interest and enthusiasm. Mayhaps you could try and find a few of them?
Thats right where the f is mai?? the reviewer was bored cuz this is a boring azz game, good mechanics but very lackin in every aspect. And the sprites are jaggy as sh*t.Snk f'd up by not including mai, shes streetfighter chun-li its her right before any other female fighter to be considered first!
Hey guys lets stop settling for mediocrity. Gamespot is definitely not what it use to be (What The F&%$# happened?) .
wow this was boring, it sounds like he was bored and he made the review in like 15 minutes. u can tell he didnt like the cuz the way he sounded
