I always saw the shift from P2P to F2P as the sign that the MMO failed as P2P (Star Trek, Conan, EQ2, LoTR, champions, marvel, Warhammer, the GTA rip-off MMO, etc.)...
NFS Boooo! Petit was spot-on fearing what E3 hyped about the Run, I didn't understand at the time why they would advertise that trash content as a "feature." Too bad they couldn't at least make the racing fun either... Burnout Paradise 2 plz!
But, SR3 gives you access to what other games would require cheats for very easily and in the end you can be completely bored with it in a week :(
The story in SR3 had me laughing several times, and not from stupid stripper/dong-bat stuff. There was some great comedy writing in there and it paid homage to several genres of games and TV.
SR2 was based on hyper-reality based on the designers own words. Saints Row 3 appears to be focused on mayhem and being as dirty as it can even when it's not necessary or humorous.
Fans asked for the ability to customize their gangs in Saints Row 3, with ability to customize characters and their clothing (was one of my top requests). Instead, we received the ability to customize gangs by the mechanics in SR3 which are limited. Customizations in general received very little attention in SR3 and in many instances took a step backwards.
From a story perspective, SR3 has no ties to SR1 and SR2 and fails to invoke any of the gang related emotions of family, betrayal, or concern. Read my latest blog for a small list of the items that weren't there from SR2 (very small list of overall list). SR3 should have been a completely new IP as other than having the Saints puked upon the city via over the top branding, there's little that ties this game to the previous Saints Row games. Companies forum's are ablaze with fan blow back.
i like swtor but i am banking the fact that it will be free to play within a year & the image just turns black 20 min before the end ...
No shoutout to Portugal? It's not Africa, but close! Let me just say hey to Kevin Vanord, love your reviews! I'm completly hooked by Dark Souls, just 25 hours in and with no time to any other game. Skyrim, Batman Arkham City, Deus Ex, Rage and Fallout 3 (trying to catch up) just gaining dust because of it. Loved the show. Carol made me want to buy Saints Row, but... too many games right now...
@everyone The video goes black around the 38 minute mark. This is a bold, new technical snafu that I'm not in a position to deal with until Monday. For what it's worth, the rest of the show is quite lovely, even without our beautiful faces.
