X_oddgod_X - IP = intellectual property. for example, metal gear solid is an IP from konami. a NEW IP is a brand new game that is not tied to an existing franchise

great show. regarding the new ip and innovative idea I cant be sure about that because even today people cant adopt to innovative idea gets implemented on game they rather reject the game or they don't pay much attention to it. so the company suffers a lot because of it. This is the only reason why we get sequel a lot we can make easy profit from sequel rather then going for a new ip. this what i have observed for a long time by seeing the gaming industry.

Yup vanille, and the cheesy diaologs made me stop ffxiii hours just after i opened the box :'( It looked good but it was bad. If we go back in time, FFX-2 made me swear I'd say never to 2's and here we got ffxiii-2. Again, I will fall into squarenix's trap and be deceived after I bought the game. At this point, I'd remake the old ones with todays graphics.

I'd like to see him beat FF13 just mashing one button.

@ivanmallia Not even remotely. You could probably point back to the pen-and-paper RPG Dungeons and Dragons, or earlier. Video games have been doing this type of game since the '70s at least.

Blizz don't innovate? Wasn't blizz's Diablo the first dungeon crawler?

if a big gaming company fails repeatedly and faces having to close down, no matter what the real reason their products weren't selling, they can always count on blaming piracy.

the bigger companies started somewhere like EA, fifa changed the company in the 90's, they were innovative back then as they are now, with leading brands games like road rash, general chaos, being released on revolutionary cartridges with extra memory added, for the sega system anyway. Iv never played star craft but have just bought a massive pc purely to play the second cos it looks awesome, from Blizzard who i respect also as a top developer...

On the other hand, you have games like Mount and Blade. Incredibly innovative, amazing underlying concepts and gameplay, but the initial release was soooo full of "jank" that it just didn't sell. But the concept is so solid, if someone like Creative Assembly picked up the ip and ran with it, they could do some really special things.

Polished innovative. Demon's Souls! Deadspace! Bastion! Couple recent ones off the top of my head. *Edit* Well, they basically mentioned each of the games I mentioned (lumping Bastion in with innovative indie games), hurray.
