The Gist - 5 Awesome E3 2014 Trailers You May Have Missed
We cover you off on 5 of the coolest looking trailers that debuted at E3 this year that you may have missed out on.
Great job Jess. I'm interested in all those games. I was a little disappointed that Sony didn't show more on HellDivers and a complete no show for The Last Guardian.
Sunset overdrive was the best one, it actually made me consider getting a XB1 for, something I refused until that trailer. Insomniac rocks!
I caught all those trailers, and yes, the Ori trailer got to me at the end, but the No Man's Sky trailer was the one that made me a little excited, particularly since FFXV and KH3 were no shows. At the same time, I felt a bit wary. What do you do in the game? Do you explore and that's pretty much it? The novelty of that could wear off for me pretty quickly.
If, however, the devs of No Man's Sky were able to do for procedurally generated missions what they did for worlds, then this game would oh so much more interesting than it already is!
The last Tomb Raider was a great game despite the awkward story. But nevertheless, this trailer of the so-called "Rise" of the TR just "falls" as hard as it can.
The trailer for Tomb Raider is terrible. The CGI is done poorly and clearly in a rush, and I don't know where to start with the inconsistencies. They wanted to make a fast reveal trailer with over the top action and surprise at some point, -- which failed, because we realized what it was in the first few seconds -- but it ended up cheap. You can't seriously be impressed by that trailer.
I'm kind of disappointed that I already knew about all of these. I was hoping to learn about new games coming out.
About Tomb Raider I couldn't care less, but the other four picks are just amazing! I did see No Man's Land and Ori here on GS, but missed the other two. Yay for games putting so much effort into art direction!
Did anyone notice the triangle shaped cude structure in the video for No Man's Sky? Why does it look almost exactly like the structure of the bad guy from Oblivion with Tom Cruise? Literally was the same thing.
Ori was definitely my favorite trailer from E3. It's the first exclusive I've seen that's made me want to buy an Xbox One, so I guess my PC upgrade will have to wait.
I would add Cuphead because it just looks awesome. Game might end up sucking but it'll at least be easy on the eyes.
I'll be getting Tomb Raider without a doubt since I really enjoyed the first one.
No Mans Sky looks great though I'm a little dubious about how much actual game there is to it. I can imagine no matter how pretty the game is, flitting from planet to planet will grow tiresome quickly if there isn't an actual agenda for it.
Or you are just minding your own business and a group come and vaporise you into the vacuum of space for no real reason. Here's hoping.
While not for a video game, I kinda feel like the Ratchet movie's time in the spotlight has been ignored by pretty much everybody.
Also Jess, that is a fantastic sweater!
The title is kinda missleading as those trailers were rather hard to miss. I do like your choices though, looking forward to those games. I just hope they all, in general, deliver. Especially with the lack of REAL gameplay shown
For me it's
1. Metal Gear Solid 5
2. Valiant Hearts The Great War
3. The Witcher 3
4. Ori and the Blind Forest
5. Tomb Raider
@Lawrencevanrijn Yes, I was impressed as well. Day One purchase for me. Only fanboys who don't own an XB1 didn't seem to care for it. I've seen Destiny & Advance Wars. They are graphically impressive, but their gameplay seems like more of the same compared to Sunset Overdrive.
@Lawrencevanrijn I dont think you saw destiny or advanced warfare
@Lawrencevanrijn I actually wasn't impressed by it at all. They didn't show anything we haven't seen before.
@rew0lf It's called Up on Top from Audio Network
@mr_nee not a civil question
@mr_nee i don't think so...:D
@crusaderprophet I loved it as well and am going to pre order the game. Loved Lourdes version of Tears For Fears song Everybody Wants To Rule The World. It suited the trailer perfectly. Saw much of the gameplay of it and the game mechanics and it got me sold. Plus I also loved AC4:BF, my first Assassin's game.
@Poodger Well there's the dead friend, but yeah it's not powerful enough to reach me either :).
@Poodger Well, then you have no heart.
@Poodger I was going to answer this but my eyes are too filled with tears for me to see what im typong priperly
@Dannystaples14 No Man's Sky seems cool but yes it's way too early to be going as nuts about it as people are. After some of the interviews and further details, it sounds like it might have a lot of depth to it. However, the initial reactions to the trailer, I think it was mostly just the art that the press went nuts for. In that trailer the only thing that seemed different was that you fly from space to planet in real time. The planet surface and wildlife actually very much reminded me of a game already out for awhile in early access called Planet Explorers, just heavily stylized.
@ArchoNils2 I think if you were watching every second of the conferences, sure, maybe, but a lot of people weren't. Or these ones were overshadowed by larger titles.
@DemonRax It might be from that game "Inside". Looks like the same environment.
@digigamerx what platform did you play ACIV on? and yes the song fit the trailer and theme of the history perfectly. It reminded me of AC Revelations trailer.
@tempertress @ArchoNils2 I prefer the opinions of the reporters on here since they tend to cut to the nit and grit of each release. Also No Man Sky looks good and the weird under water game too, forgot name. If anyone here likes Tom Cruise, or just his movies, there is a massive Oblivion reference, or easter egg, with that huge triangle shaped structure that is shown in the trailers!
Oh I expected everyone on a gaming website watched every second of the hugest conferences of the year. But I guess you're right if we look at it like that
@ArchoNils2 Actually most people who visit our site aren't die hard enthusiasts, that's why lists like this are easily digestible.
@ArchoNils2 I didn't, I have a thing called "work" and I'm not that dedicated to search through independent titles so I did miss some of these.
Yeah i got you. I just thought that people who are dedicated enough to visit gaming websites also watch the hugest conferences of the year. But well, I have been proven wrong, sorry for that
@lorider25 No job in the world doesn't leave you with 5h to watch the conferences, but I got you on the dedication side
Lol @ the part with work. There is no job in the world that does not leave you with 5 hours to watch all 5 conferences. But I got you on the dedication side
