So can you block while duel wielding swords? I'm having trouble imagining what button they're going to use if L1 is your left sword...
Dragon age 2's combat system was great actually for all you saying it was bad. But the story was very limiting. I understand why people found the combat unsatisfying and I did as well but the way it worked was great. To make it better add in those "tactics" they promised and instead of fighting whole armies of enemies every battle just make a few enemies stronger. I enjoyed oblivion's combat system but not being able to dual wield was a real pain in the ass.
@thequickshooter You clearly haven't played Elder Scrolls if you're comparing it to a watered down sequel to DA:Origins... That or you have horrible taste. Some of us prefer, you know, options in RPGs, rather than a non-openworld game that ends after an incredibly dull campaign.
omg this game looks AMAZING!! there's so many new things! and the graphics and new ai sound dope!!! even though the AI has been no problem in the previous i cant wait to see how it's going to be now IM BUYING THIS GAME MOTHERLICKAS
@thequickshooter how is DA2 any better then this game at all? comparing the two games is like comparing a Xbox game to an Xbox 360 game it has run down graphics. and the combat isnt fun at all pressing a tew buttons and watching your guy fight isnt entertaining at all. wouldnt you much rather play the game then watch it? im with @PHPHPH2000
I tried the dragon age 2 demo and I was not satisfied with the combat. I thought it was too simple and easy by pressing one button which just makes it boring just like Fable 3.
the combat systeam still aint doing it for me becuse take like dragon age 2 a great rpg with great combat systeam i like when u press the buttun and there is insttly combat like fast one
co-op would be good but i would only use it to, say trade items and weapons or stuff like that, i prefer to play RPG's by myself
I find it funny that people want multiplayer in a game that is an RPG and it is meant to be played on your own. As for this game of the year talk. Skyrim will win for best game and battlefield will be the best shooter. MW3 may outsell battlefield but I do not think it will be the better game.
@Xeuton_Mojukai Battlefield 3 will not have hackers and griefers within two weeks. It is going to take at least a month before a few hackers start popping up, and they will be quickly taken care of with updates, at least on the consoles. As for griefers, they are very rare to come across, and i do not worry at all about them. Skyrim will also not be perfect, since it is a open world game. Open world games always have bugs, and glitches, because it takes time to work all of it out. Since Skyrim is over 300 hours, you can expect to come across quite a bit of bugs and glitches, but i'm sure that they too will be updated and patched within a month or so. I believe Skyrim will win game of the year, because of all the details and new AI that it has, and especially because it will be over 300 hours. Although my favorite game of the year, will be Gears of War 3. I prefer multiplayer over single player, and Gears of War 3 will include the best multiplayer, in my opinion, because of Beast Mode, and Horde Mode 2.0.
Converted from PC gamer to console gamer a couple years ago. However, this will be the only game this year I will get on PC and that us due to Mods. Mods extend the games life past anything the developer will do. Won't be stuck with only one way to play it.
@AFO-Wolfpack I agree with you, battle-field may change FPS. However, when it comes to AI, i think battle-field will have the same AI we have seen in the past 3 years. Skyrim's AI is remarkable, think sims with giant dragons. On top of that, skyrim will have the top of the line combat and graphics.
@Xeuton_Mojukai Sorry dont get me wrong, im not saying that i dont like skyrim...and yes it probably does deserve GOTY, but i still think that battlefield 3 in the end will end up as GOTY. Not because it is better, but because of how the game is changing the future of FPS games. But still i believe they are both equally desrving games for GOTY and they both are changing the landscape for future gaming
@AFO-Wolfpack Battlefield 3 = good graphics + shooting + multiplayer (which will inevitably devolve within two weeks into hackers and griefers). Skyrim = good graphics + shooting (both w/ spells and bows) + swords + shields + quests + story + exploration. GOTY will not go to Battlefield 3 unless people completely forget what the word "better" means.
@Falcon084 wrong. fallout new vegas was produced by bethesda softworks in association with obsidian. seriously i just finished wasting my life for 3 months playing it. not trying to be a jerk but seriously, it's bethesda.
@Maverick-77 naww not game of the year but runner up to Battlefield 3...still this is gonna be one of my must buys :P
I hope my 6990 and 6970 in tri fire can handle this game at 2560x1600! I can't wait to kill every Khajit bastard in Skyrim!
@oneshot - I know what you mean. I'm older though, so I got sick of FPSs about 10 years ago, except occasionally I come across a really interesting one (Stalker for instance). Skyrim looks great though, probably the only "new" game I'll buy this year.
Oblivion is the best RPG I've ever played, maybe best game ever. Its three best aspects were exploration, exploration, and exploration. No other game has sucked me in so much, with a go-anywhere do-anything open-ended world. That's what Dragon Age was lacking the most. The only downside of Oblivion was the leveling system. Even though the player is technically not required to max out the skills before leveling up, it's always beneficial to do it if you don't want to fall behind the enemy skills at higher levels. So, leaving the character to sprint against a wall for five hours, just to increase Athletics, was not among my favorite moments of the game. This one is looking great. I hope it will be at least as vast as Oblivion, with better leveling system.
Dude I really hope they get user-created content on the consoles! Cause my PC sucks and I can't afford to build a nice rig right now. Tod Howard has said that they are talking to Microsoft and Sony to try to get the user-created content (aka Mods) on the consoles.
This looks amazing. Played Oblivion to death, only thing I didn't like was the leveling system. If that's been tinkered then this could be my favourite game of all time....
Most def the best game of this Gen if not maybe ever. Out of 24 years of gaming Oblivion is my #1 game of all time on my best ever list. After I spend 300 hours in Sykrim, I will be anticipating the next Fall Out built on this engine.
@Phaselinear, a Gamestop rep... and you believed him/her? A 'friend of a friend who knows someone who works at Bethesda' on these forums would be a more reliable source then Gamestop. Likely such a thread is where this gamestop rep got his info from. I'm not saying it is impossible that this game is multi-disc, but there is no reason to believe it is either (as I explained in my other post). There is also no rumor that it will be multi-disc. There is only forum chatter regarding this subject. If Bethesda had revealed an 'X amount' of discs for Skyrim to their retailers then it would have been a wide spread rumor. On a final note, it is an openworld game so multi-disc would make the experience horrible. There is no real way to divide the content over multiple discs. They could put certain quests on one disc and others on the other but if one were to do both quests (which is possible since this is openworld) then it would still cause a major conflict. If Bethesda did come short of disc space to realize their vision then they would probably decrease the scope of their vision instead. But given the reasons I've stated in my other post there is nothing to suggest this game requires multiple discs. Let alone the 4-5 you put out there for others to take for granted.
"the world doesn't freeze when you go into dialogue" probably the best thing said in this video about time Bethesda
@ronnet, a GameStop rep informed me that it would be a multi-disk game set, with up to "X" amount in the works. If it doesn't add up in the end, but the game meets all expectations, I could careless if it's 1-2 or 3-4 disks.
I put 330+ hours into Oblivion before a damn game stopping bug ended it all. No relief for the console but, the pc guys had a fix for it. Anyhow, can't wait till this comes out. Going pc this time!! Morrowind and Oblivion were on the consoles. I'm not missing out on the kick ass mod communtiy this time around. Finally got a laptop that can kill this game.
I cant't wait for this. I had a battlemage character on Oblivion with over 400 hours logged, but had to quit due to constant freezing. Hopefully Skyrim will be more stable. I've been playing Dragon Age for the past year +, though I'm looking forward to playing a more open rpg.
I Preordered but I work on Fridays. Will have to pick it up and have it sit and look at me all day while I am at work... Can I resist? Will see...
Don't get me wrong, straight FPS games are fun and all, but I guess you can say my "appetite" for them has been "satisfied" and I don't find them as fun anymore. For me personally, it's like, I'd prefer games like this over games like MW2. Open world games with extensive landscapes to explore and a good story seem more "attractive" as opposed to a game where you go from point A to point B and kill all in your path. (I AM NOT saying MW2 is like that. I played that game a ton) I just picked up Borderlands and loving it. Hopefully it'll last me til Skyrim comes out. :D Can't wait, getting it the first day! :D
