@RubiksGenius first of all its a game that takes place in a fantasy world where people can shoot fire from their hands and absorb dragons souls and you're complaining about wheather lighting will hurt a dragon? secondly its a dragon spell so the spell weilder is using the magic of a dragons soul to harm another dragon so of course the lightening bolt will hurt the dragon its magic!! thirdly....... this is going to be the greatest game of the year!!! cant wait :)
holy i cant believe that's 360 footage it looks awesome!!!!! lucky for me my birthday is in november so i am gonna get this and saints row 3
@NexT2010 - whoa lol I think it is Cliff, you can even see him taking a picture with some random person
It seems to me that being in first person, you miss a lot of cool animations that you otherwise would see in third person. The shouts aren't very impressive when all you see is a blast of fire. I bet in third person when you see it actually come from your mouth it's a lot cooler.
not gona lie im a more of a third persons type of guy i would really like to see some gameplay in third person before i buy but if it is as good as first person if not better im am totally sold
The thing I love bout Todd Howard is that he's a geek/nerd just like us...he IS one of the fans (as he literately said near the opening) yet he's so nonchalant about it; he's kind of a bad ass of the gaming world. I think we Elder Scrolls fans should count ourselves lucky that Todd is - and has been - at the helm of this series.
hmm PS3 or PC, i sorta want it on PC and i have x17 alienware and yet I feel im gonna have problems running this game...
@RubiksGenius that is in no way how electricity acts. you are completely wrong the dragon would indeed be struck by lightening and would be seriously injured or killed...do your research before claiming nonsense.
@i_r_amazing The plane is a different story because of the material it is made from. Planes are mostly aluminum, which has far less resistance than air. So yes, lightning would arc to the plane and then to the ground. But flesh is more resistant than air, so it would not create a path of least resistance. This being based on human flesh mind you, one could assume that a dragon might have more resistance that a human with the thick skin and all.
after playing Dragon Age, now I feel playing RPGs solo is boring, I love ES series but I wish there are party members, playing long hours of RPG in a MMO driven time can be very sad. at least with party members it is more fun, since they mimic the social needs of gamers. the combat gameplay too is kind of repetitive.
@RubiksGenuis: Actually, the dragon definitely would get struck, and It definitely would feel it. Moving electrons take the path of least resistance; in a lightning strike, the clouds have built up enough static charge that the electro-weak attraction between the very negative cloud and the neutral/slightly positive ground can overcome the resistance to electric conduction that air usually poses, making an impromptu circuit. That being said, a dragon (or pretty much anything higher than the ground, really) would offer a path of much less resistance than thin air. The electrons would shoot from the clouds into the dragon and then from the dragon into the ground. That's why they design airplanes specifically to be able to transmit a current from a lightning strike around them without seriously affecting the inside or the important components. TL;DR: The lightning would bounce off the dragon and into the ground, and it would die.
Is that Cliff Bleszinkski in the window in the background @ 8:45 ish. He pops in around 8:30 but you get a better look at him @ 8:45. Lol. It would be funny if that was him.
The dragon, not being grounded wouldn't get struck by lightning.... and if it did, it wouldn't feel anything. Just saying.
first when i heard about this game i just thought it was just another rpg but now since i saw this probly BEST RPG OF THE YEAR and im not a rpg fan and the fact that the dragons are unscripted even more better!!!!!!!
im also interested in the fact that nobody is discussing the fact that you now play as a character whose identity is fully known. this Dragon Born guy. or at least he is generally known. its diffrent enough from Oblivion and Morrowind to be noticeable
multiple dragons at once? oh dear...better find those cheat codes soon...haha or just practice practice practice...
@JonathanGudeman dont think it will be a boss battle or in the game at all but you never know, Todd and Bethesda always have surprises up their sleeve
Well, I think Todd won't talk about dragons fighting eachother, because he wants to be suprise when they do. Its probably like a final boss battle or something.
@JonathanGudeman the reason to why the two dragons didnt fight in the demo was to show the different strengths of the dragons. the demo was kinda planned you know....! and it would be mad if you can choose a single dragon at a point of a game and this can be YOUR dragon and you will be able to ride and call him in to help with any enemy including dragons!!!
@NazDaBaz They already said that you can't ride a dragon, but they haven't answered if you can call in a dragon. I'm guessing if you can call in a dragon, it will be mostly for non dragon enemies. And if you look in the demo, there were two dragons at one time, but they didn't fight. I'm guessing if they do fight, it would be random, but I guarantee that at one point you will see dragons fight eachother!
@RETROGAMES the brawl about the two dragons is actually a great idea! i am also wondering if you could ride a dragon or call in a dragon to help you!? that would be awesome
@NazdaBaz No worries, and of course there is plenty of other things to affect a dragon, such as casting fireball spell into its mouth, that will explode its head off, or somehow blinding it so it crashes into things all the time. One more point i would like to see with these dragons is: if they are allowed to free roam, whats stopping two dragons meeting each other and having a brawl head on! that would be cool to see lol
@RETROGAMES lol good point sorry i was just in a weird mood. but still there can be something better than holes in wings! hehe 11.11.11
@RETROGAMES actually that is a very good idea, Would be fun to just shoot the beast in the wings and see it crash into a village and crushing everyone in it's wake ^^
@NazDaBaz, a dragon without wings is screwed, I was just thinking out of the border, as a flightless dragon is a down dragon so i don't think it is a stupid idea, as most games you just hit the character until their HP bar goes down, be nice to atually see the creature take some damage, just nice to think out of the logic at times, so hopefully that answers your *stupidist thing i have heard* quote, im sure you've heard worse if this seems bad to you lol anyway as a fellow gamer 11.11.11 we shall all experience this master piece XD
@RETROGAMES why would you be able to put holes in a dragons wing!?!? that is the most stupidist thing i have heard!!! but still i cant wait for this gameee!!!! 11.11.11
I wonder if you can shoot holes in the dragons wings? would that stop it from flying, or shoot them whilst they are mid air to bring them down. Would be pretty sweet and add more depth into the games physics. All in all can't wait for this game :D
@ultraredM. Did you read any forums before stating that? There were a lot of problems on release, yes...but huge and ambitious projects need much polish. Games like this always amaze when 'modders' seem to know more about games and what makes them fun than developers....I wish the 'modders' could develop all the games. :)
@peteywentout You must be thinking of New Vegas, because I didn't find any broken quests in Fallout 3, and only experienced a few bugs.
@UltraredM when "we" say unfinished we mean that fallout was haunted by broken quests, stupid bugs, from the first to the last minute of gameplay, and at least in fallout, almost literally, 24 hours after the game was released, there was a new patch out, to fix that. soooo yeah, a bit lack of polishing...
@Doomrul Fallout 3 had a fine inventory system, so common sense says Skyrim will have a fine inventory system as well. RDR had nothing to do with Bethesda, so Skyrim's horses will probably be similar to Oblivion's. 3rd person view looks good in this demo. Lastly, Oblivion and Fallout 3 WERE finished products when shipped out, and I don't see how anyone can say otherwise.
1)Did they actually listen/read/watch/play countless Mods came from relentless fans of Oblivion and Fallout 3? 2)Will it be finally a HUD that won't need modding? 3)Please ,finally a decent Inventory System? 4)Horses (I am not looking forward to any other mount type as long as they are ) on par /better with/than RDR's? 5)Will I still be able to get a conclusion/reward/or just even a "mention" of a quest even if I killed/encountered the related NPC or random world event earlier than "I was supposed to".(as far as I believe Sandbox world made these games legends!) 6)Can I really play a distinctive class rather than trying to MAX OUT every skill/talent? 7)Showed some effort for decent Voice Acting ? 8 )Finally "playable" over the shoulder view ? 9)Are we going to get an ACTUAL FINISHED PRODUCT? or will it be the same story as Oblivion and Fallout 3 and it will take another 2-3 years actually until game "settles down" ? 10) Charisma/Character/Speech ? Finally , will they be functional at all , or just keep holding disk space? ...................................................................... It's all sweet interviews and impressive voice overs mixed with flashy , shiny crisp graphics so far.But I want to see some real "improvement" over fundamentals of Oblivion and Fallout 3,what made those games legends!I want to enjoy that feeling kept me playing of hundreds of hours despite "the flaws" I deliberately ignored!
this game is looking amazing. but i wonder what bethesda will do next???? maybe fallout 4 that would make me happy, but screw fallout, GO SKYRIM!!!!!!!!!!!
