played in a few beta weekends the game is decent enough to where if I were a fan I would probably buy a sub.

I'm not a big Elder Scrolls/Skyrim fan though so I probably wont play it.

I'm keeping all my MMO hope alive for Camelot Unchained.

so daedric corrupted that battlemage? And now he's a bad/evil necromancer ;? Nice plot twist.

As much as I wanna like this game, in the end I remember it has a ridiculous purchase + monthly fee.

Though they look amazing, I hate these kinds of trailers. I equate them to the way fast food restaurants mislead customers with photos of visually enticing burgers. I wish they used gameplay to make this trailer.

However, I can't wait until games ACTUALLY look this good. 2 more years???

I didn't know there was another Lord of the Rings movie coming out, cool...

The plot of this trailer is almost the exact same as the plot of Warcraft 3. From the races fighting their war being interrupted by a demonic invasion right down to the hero turned villain leading an undead army. I just hope he's not a prince.

Trailer looks epic, too bad the in game combat won't ever look like that.....

I like TES but I'm not gonna bother with TESO......

I don't touch Bethesda games without mods. They make great tools, but the games are just a conglomerate of tick boxes checkmarked with no soul.

The cinematic is awesome, no doubt about that, but I just fear, that there are too much MMORPGs in the gaming scene and this whole genre just isn't so trending anymore.

Another failure, sadly.

And btw., check out my blog about gaming - http://indigogaming.blogspot.com/

I must admit, impressive as this trailer is, the whole thing depresses me. To think that all that time and development money could have been going into a true Elder Scrolls VI and has instead gone into yet another subscription MMORPG is pretty galling.

We all know the arc here. It'll do pretty well out of the gate, will have a few months of being 'the next W.O.W.', and then the moaning will start. Not enough end-game content. This part of the game doesn't work like it does in W.O.W. and must be fixed.

Then the player exodus, followed by the shift to F2P.

A sad waste of effort, I fear.

Lovely... it's a shame the game is nothing like this.

lol the magic in this trailer is way too cool for this game. the magic in the game looks nothing like this. why would you hype something more than you can offer? yeah, you get better sales, but you sacrifice the long term of your game. i would jump in game and immediately be disappointed.

also, zenimax: you want me to pay $15 a month for a game that is zoned and not open world like single player ES games? No thanks. I will play more skyrim and then stick to GW2 which is zoned but has no sub fee.

The first trailer, the prequel to this trailer, was very very good! It showed a struggle from three sides, each class with their own ways. This trailer, however, irritates me to no end:

  • Doesn't make sense at all. Except that the human warrior became some sort of lord pawn leading the undead scourge attack on the Imperial City.
  • Why are they all fighting in the same manner? They all are super fast and agile and dodges everything and hacks everything at the correct time and ways?! How in the world did they not care to put some work into it? Like the armoured warrior could be taking hits and deal blows that hits more than one. Or the rogue could use bow and arrows and or bombs and smoke bombs etc? The only fitting fighting style was the elven fighter. They obviously didn't care to put much thought into this.
  • What was the point of the beast? Seriously, he just came and and begone.
  • Why were the tree fighters squaring off at the start of the video, as if they were of equal strength? When CLEARLY the elven fighter was just way too powerful?! I mean, she singlehandedly did everything, and she is even stronger than 5-6 or so daedric necromancers? You kidding me? How did she even take a knee to her face. Lol. This really irritated me, as it shows a very lazy and uncreative way of solving a problem (that they were doomed, so let the elven fighter became the most legendary sorceress suddenly).

I had more irritating moments when I was watching, but I forgot now. In any case, this game just lacks everything. Even the cinematic direction, is shit (the cg is amazing though). Such a bad game that will fail so hard.

mages OP...

anyway, seems bethesda learned a thing or two making cinematics!

Well it looked pretty awesome. Too bad the gameplay will probably just be pressing one or two buttons the whole time and watching the people stand relatively motionless as they wail away at eachother

@zoeyleft Hah! Finally some sense! While the trailer was physically impressive it was incredibly convulted and all its attempts at narrative engagement fell flat.

I was kept asking myself, what on earth is going on? Far inferior to the prievous trailers and that of SWTOR which really had a narrative grip. This was all just special effects and random crap coming out of nowhere to kill folks.

And yeah, mages are clearly going to be OPed. ;)

@zoeyleft You are blind my friend. This is an amazing trailer and it is a GAME!!!!!! it does not need to make sense!

@Banjo2E The gameplay videos say otherwise... This game looks great so far and I'll consider paying to play it.... But first, I gotta wait for reviews.

@UseThisUserName I think it is meant to make it seem more exciting in action sequences but often like this it is just annoying.

majere613

@Snakpakk@majere613 I'm sure they are, and I certainly hope they are. But they'll be doing it without the stupendous amounts of resources that ESO will be devouring, and with the serious problem of trying to continue the lore of the series around the MMO.

@soccerpzn@sigmact
We can probably say that they "learned something" about "making cinematics" in the sense that they learned to outsource the task. XD Leave it to the people who actually spend their days doing that stuff.

Additionally, to the previous comments regarding false advertising in the trailer versus the gameplay (with the mage especially), that's probably the reason. Outsource the task to a professional group who knows how to make "cool" trailers that keep the "spirit" of the original content (ideally), but without making it actually "realistic" in terms of what the players will be able to do. It's all for hype and is part of their investment strategy, which sadly probably could've been better spent finding alternative means of revenue through the game. I know plenty of people who aren't getting it merely because of the monthly subscription.

Banjo2E
Banjo2E

@soccerpzn I apologize for my ignorance, though I don't believe it to be so. Granted I haven't played the game, but I have seen demonstrations and while it does look a step up from other MMO's out there, the core combat mechanics seem to be the same. If you like those kinds of combat mechanics then all power to you! I personally get bored of MMO's because of the repetitive nature of the combat.

@majere613Elder Scrolls 6 will be developed by Bethesda Game Studios.  Elder Scrolls Online is being developed by Zenmax Online.  One game will not effect the other.  Mind you, it will be awhile before they announce the next Elder Scrolls game as there is little doubt that they are currently working on Fallout 4 and there is always a few years between ES releases.
