Oh mother of god, this was a high end game in 2002? Anyone who says the world is going to shit is a fucking moron when you see how much we take for granted today. How can anyone think history was better than the present? I'll take the recession over a 32MB graphics card any day.
If you enjoyed Morrowind like I did in its original state (PC), now you have the chance to renew the experience with a Morrowind overhaul by Ornitocopter.
This game is just awsome and it is good to see that there are still fans working on improving on an already excellent game.
The elder scrolls games is the reason made me like RPG games !
Oblivion was my first , skyrim was my second ( both on PS3 ) and i was totally addicted to this game !
But after i played morrowind , it was awesome and it was the mirror that showed the opposite sides in skyrim and oblivion ! Things were missing in both games !
But the only bad thing about morrowind is the graphics , but you can handle it !
I only wish if elder scrolls team re-boot elder scrolls 1 and 2 so we can enjoy them like the rest of the elder scroll games .
I tried to play Morrowind for the first time after pouring hundreds of hours into Skyrim and over 1000 into Oblivion and I could not bring myself to get through it. I know if I played it before I played the other two I might have enjoyed it, but unfortunately I absolutely hated it! I'm a huge Elder Scrolls fan so I thought i might have enjoyed it but I couldn't...
This game is a classic. I had the game for the PC and after I had pretty much annihilated the content. I started to have fund messing with the console commands. I remember there were console commands for the PC that allowed you to set any skill at any value. I remember setting my acrobatic skill to some outlandish 20 digit number. I went down to Vivec and focused my character due north and ran forward and jumped. I cleared the entire length of the game's world in this one leap. The game had paused my jump several dozens of times in midair to load the world around me. It was so hilarious.
I know Oblivion obviously looked nicer than Morrowind, but Morrowind was better when it came to having a house. I remember having a house in MW and collecting a wide assortment of loot and other collectibles/artifacts and displaying them very neatly in my house on tables and shelves, etc. Yet in Oblivion, when you get your own house, you can't display your collectible artifacts as nice. That little difference bothered me a little.
I just picked of the game of the year edition to keep me busy till the dawnguard dlc is released. I put 600hrs into skyrim and I got 100% on oblivion years ago. These game are well worth the time and money. I think they should make a remake with better grpahics! this is my favorite elder scrolls.
still...one of the best rpg games...i instal this game in my laptop to have with me this treasure game all the time...
I know that most people who have played morrowind already know this, but wasnt there a patch or something that shows you your enemies health? You could just compare how much smaller your bar is getting to how much your enemie's bar is shrinking.Thats what I do. :/
Same music as Skyrim just better I reckon I like old style. I want this game so bad everywhere I go people say it's awesome and I just think I might buy it. Do you think I'll be able to play it on a 1GB graphics card? *Bad Joke*
i had never played a real RPG in my life until a friend of mine lemme borrow this one. I was so addicted and blown away. I used to make a rule that i couldnt play this on worknights because after the quintessential "one more quest, just one more quest", it would be 2 or 3 hours before i had to get up in the morning for work. Same thing with oblivion. And now those damned bethesda suckers got me again with skyrim. I still somewhat follow my old rule though, now its max 3 hours of play on a workday. Hard to find the time anymore with kids and a mortgage.
I've had Morrowind (PC) since 2006. I've gone through 2 PCs (just upgrading, nothing trashed) and have kept Morrowind the entire time. Pure awesome.
I few day back I finished all 3 main quests on my 7th playthrough, I will donwload a mod that is like an expansion pack, but yet I still need to do a lot of things. This is a classic game, it will never die. Such an epic game.
the main character animations are exactly the same as the ones in oblivion! they really don't give a crap about the 3rd person view... after i finish oblivion and all the expansions i might get into morrowind again let us just hope that they actualy finish skyrim, and that they don't release it like fallout, FILLED with bugs, that you find in the first 2 minutes of gameplay..
i love how he said you need a fast graphics card i could play this game on my calculator but this game is freaking awsome
Just picked this up for the first time. For a 10 year old game(I think)it;s really really good.I added some texture pack and looks decent and combat kinda stinks but for the money unbelievable value. And I haven't even really done anything.Any suggestions is appreciated.
Good review for the time altough the 8.7 was low. Nowadays this game continues to provide gamers with rpg enjoyment and many issues have been solved. This game is a jewel.
http://www.fileplanet.com/218159/210000/fileinfo/Elder-Scrolls-III:-Morrowind---Morrowind-2011-Compedium-Mod- This is getting me back on this game it breaths new life into this already amazing game.
"it can get a little lonely...." I can't believe he said that, this is a sp rpg, not for the type of person that needs hand holding in games. Morrowind is awesome as sp and anything else would only take away from it. It's as it should be. -and no offense to consolers out there, but this game is just so much more epic on PC, with all the mods, there's even mods out there that make the graphics better, some say on par with Oblivion which is good for a 2002 game. This game will never die on PC, last I looked on an Elder Scrolls site, there was over 200 Pages of mods. It never gets old, and it will never die, and if you're playing on console, that beats nothing, but you're missing out on so much of the experience. It's such an old game, pretty much any PC could play it these days, seriously. It's even still sold in physical stores if you prefer that over digital download/credit cards.
Without a doubt one of the best, most underrated games in history. Absolutely fantastic. I have it for xbox and pc. Just an amazing accomplishment. Oblivion made some worthwhile changes, but this game is just easier to love.
Too much nitpicking. This game rubs it's soul in your face :D I just started playing again, so excited. One of my dearest games ever
@gassem156: You're kidding right? The game came out in 2002. It requires like 3 times weaker processor and 5 times less ram to run. The only downside is your graphics card. Integrated is always a bad idea, but I don't think you'll have any problems running morrowind.
@HossamMathers That"s a good idea but they are very old, daggerfall was only 10 square miles. if they did a re-boot it would have to be a major overhaul.
@alpha_unit97 Do not give up on this one. I have played Skyrim and Oblivion, but last night I returned to Morrowind. The beginig can be a bit slow and hard depending on your character, and reading the dialogues can take a while to get used to, but the game rewards you as you continue the journey. I feel there is even more freedom in this game than in Skyrim or Oblivion.
@coolboyg With Morrowind overhaul, you can enjoy most of the mods that have been created for this game, plus the work of the guys who have improved the graphics and animations.
Daggerfall was a huge game, much larger than others in the series.
@bayernfan @alpha_unit97 there is more freedom, like you can kill quest related people in morrowind, you can kill ANYONE in morrowind as to skyrim were if you hit them they just fall on their knees. skyrim is an awesome and impressive game but it does tend to hold ur hand to much and as a role playing game it should do the opposite. STOP MAKING CLASSIC GAMES FOR THE CASUALS.
