Anybody who thinks this game might get repetitive, just stop there. You'll get multiple weapons, and a lot of different enemies to face. Boss battles are challenging but fun and very rewarding. The story is actually really cool as well, and even though it's a bit out there, it is engaging, and you soon want to figure out what's going on. It has great mechanics. It's the type of game where you can die easily, but you don't have to get hit at all if you're really focused. A must buy at $10. I would honestly pay more.
@cjf187x I don't think the content or story mode can be rich enough for the score is what I am saying. I never said mainstream was good. And I was looking for PC games and some how saw this XBOX game. It wasted 3 min of my time, might as well just leave feedback on prospective. But I am a douche for not playing a game that is much the same concept as Magicka or Super Meat Boy. Played them and I am saying this, "you get what you paid for" I don't know if this game is different. Maybe if people can explain the game then calling people douches. then people won't be all but hurt.
@InfestedHunter Have you played this game? I picked it up and it's pretty sick. Why should only mainstream developers have their games reviewed? Don't be a douche. It's actually a pretty good game.
why score these 10$ 2d lame games 9.0? these need there own category, like, bargain bin reviews or something.
Why am I seeing this as a PC review? The title reads "The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile Video Review (PC)", but it's under Theater of War 3. I'm at this page: http://asia.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/theatre-of-war-3-korea/video/6307251/the-dishwasher-vampire-smile-video-review
its kinda like a cross between the little boy from Limbo & the freaky horror girl who fell down the well in The Ring, playing out that black & white yakooza scene in Kill Bill...but it goes for like 4 hours instead of 4 minutes...this game is unreal if seriously only ONE guy made this he deserves a medal
this plus gears3 comin out soon i might have to buy an xbox maybe ill dish out 200 is 4gb enuff for exclusive titles
looks ok, but its nearly the same as most arcade games from the last years and it seems to bring nothing really new. well 9,0 is just overrated for this game. Somehow a few games here on gamespot get ratings i just can't believe. This game seems to be complety made of other games and their ideas just like most other arcades. Guess its not really fair but somehow its just what gamespot is about in the last years. Doesn't matter which game, the rating doesn't say much about how good the game maybe is.
Man, just to think that just the demo was nice with such fast action, I imagine the full game with all the other weapons and giant enemies!
@breadisgood No you don't. I haven't played Dead Samurai myself. In fact, playing this game made me want to purchase Dead Samurai!
I grabbed it, its fun wish i didn't have to read the dialog though..it's a good late nite kinda of game
It looks unique and stylish. From the gameplay videos, I can't say that it looks like 9.0 material, but everybody has a sentimental preference, and I'd much rather see games like this than yet another COD. Truth be told, I have a soft spot for the 2-D side-scrolling genre in general.
Do I need to have played the first one to get what's going on in this game? I played the trial for this yesterday and thought it looked great, then I see it's getting good reviews so I'm really tempted to buy it but I don't really want to get the first one.
@mtait01 microsoft fixed the RROD a few years back. I have had my Xbox for 2 years and never had a problem with it
Ninja Gaiden Sigma part 2 on the playstation 3 is a MUCH BETTER game. It has 9 very unique weapons, plus 3 female weapons for a grand total of 12 weapons. You can buy Ninja Gaiden Sigma part 2 for about $25.
@southernmoney16 Teeny doogan got you down? I'm assuming your talking about mainstream hip-hop stations that play auto-tune garbage all day. Even though that's not a relevant comparison, I'ts cool if you want to bump that music and show off your moose knuck in them skinny jeans.
Anyone who thinks this game is just a plain, repetitive hack and slash is wrong. Very very wrong. Two characters, new weapons, upgrades, levels, flashy combat, and much more keep the game fresh. Not only does this game have a BRILLIANT art style, (reminds me of Limbo in a way) but it is an excellent game well worth your 800 MSP. Be glad that this game isn't the usual BS of 1200 MSP arcade games seems to have these days. The game is in a way, kind of like a half assed Ninja Gaiden II, which is perfectly fine. In my books, this game is also a 9. In XBLA game standards at least.
@Torque203 That can't be a logical policy that all comments mentioning another game should be censored. The comment I mentioned was about another downloadable side-scrolling xbox game which is only a logical comparison.
I downloaded this game after reading the review and I love it. It's brutally violent, darkly artistic, combat is a blast, there's tons to do, it's good on the wallet, online and offline multiplayer (which is rare these days) and it's just downright fun! Furthermore, the story and characters might not be the best but the game makes up for this with enticing cinematics (nightmare sequences are really cool) and great atmosphere. I'll admit that this game isn't for everyone but don't hestitate to spend the 800 MP if this review has peeked your interest. I love how Kevin is a real gamer with a real opinion. He's not afraid to speak his mind even if others don't like it!
@southernmoney16 -- So to be clear: I am an idiot for fully evaluating and praising an extremely fun, well put-together, quality game that you have never played?
oh no doubt, arguments and stupid discussions over this game... Hell no, I'm out of here before I get pulled in too?
@calvinsora: Sorry -1 you by accident. Meant southermoney. @southernmoney: 'Haven't played the game but not gonna lie it look repetitive that's why gamestop editors are idiots they gave this game a 9 they aren't even playing games anymore' So you are rating a game without playing it and then accuse gamespot? Confused.
