The Crew Beta First Impressions
Kevin took a spin with The Crew PC beta, and although it is shaping up to be a top gear game, it needs a tune up before it is ready to race off the shelves.

This game could of had potential, but then Ubisoft made it. But honestly, it's reminiscent of Burnout Paradies, with nothing but Fords and Nissans and some really bad vehicle physics. Given it's a beta that could mean all that's currently under developed can be improved, maybe. But now that the game is out, still waiting for a review of that release. At this stage the game looks like a big pass.
I was so excited about this game, but the beta is terrible. The camera swings like burnout paradise and the driving is like a laggy tdu2 burnout is a good game but tdu2 driving not so much. It's exactly like tdu2 a game built to have cool features and things you can do but terrible at the base. The frame rate is a little sketchy but the graphics look terrible 720p is terrible and that's what it looks like. the boats or barge I saw made me sick looked like some thing from a Nintendo GameCube. The world is ok the massive scale is great, however when move right on my stick I expect the car to go that direction immediately not sit around and wait to turn. I whould even go as far as to suggest forza horizon 2 driving. I don't know how they expected pepole to like it, if they could fuse gta 5 driving with that of Forza it would be golden. For now I'll sit back and see where it goes but Im not gonna shell out any $$ for this.
It's like Need for Speed with a Fast and the Furious under tone. But, plays a little like Midnight Club. The upgrades seems very Midnight Club-ish. Nothing about this game feels new. I wasn't impressed at all with the graphics. I'm sure it will change, but it's locked at 30fps on PC right now. Even with all of my settings maxed out and on Ultra, I still wasn't impressed.
Save Far Cry everything about Ubisoft leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Every from U-Play to the unending Assassins Creed
Not really a fan of driving games so there's pretty much no chance I would buy this. I think the last car game I bought was Need for Speed Underground
Been watchin the beta and i gotta say it's not looking so great the graphics are meh. The story which should be driving / racing focused is some bs undercover fast and furious type crap. The actual driving physics dont look to hot either and most of the races look pretty boring and generic probably because they were so focused on making the world big. Seems like another game that's gonna fall victim to its over reaching ambition.
Ubisoft are the kings of spamming the HUD. 3:45 why does that need to be so big that it completely obstructs your view.
I understand that this game has a huge map, but graphically it doesn't seem that great. It looks like a sub-par arcade racer.
@djjbras I'd rather have a new midnight club (with a pc port this time maybe?!). I saw the original trailer and it looked really cool but now it's something I might get if its on a steam sale. Seems to be happening to a lot of games ubisoft has published recently... *cough* watchdogs *cough*
@pnova Cruisin' USA was a very good game.
@23Jarek23 Because LEVEL UP!!!!!
@The-Neon-Seal So an overhyped game that promised so much and delivered so little?
@The-Neon-Seal Yup, actually what I was thinking. The cars even handle the same. They need to take some listens from Rockstar. When they released Midnight Club the cars looked and handled better than they did in the previous Grand Theft Auto games.
