The game is short and starts to feel pointless after you finish the first 8 worlds, to easy and the only thing that tends to kill you from time to time is falling of the level. They should make a new game like super mario sunshine and super mario 64 for the 3ds with lots of stars to collect and less jump from point to point levels.
This game is a great update. However, the graphics aren't as sharp as the N64 version. It's more digital, meaning the pixels stand out more. Aside from that tiny downgrade, it's a great game that has more added to it than taken away. And if you want a better control scheme, buy a 3DS. The slide pad works much better than the d-pad.
I think having multiple characters was kind of a dumb idea but it works well anyway. I prefer the N64 version anyway but this game was good to.
Wow, the older reviews actually give it a score at the end of them... I actually like that. As for the game, I just picked it up today, seems pretty late since it came out 6 years ago! lol ah well, This game is awesome because the 64 was awesome. I use to play this game for hours as a child back in the day! So glad to replay it :-)
While i think SM64DS is good, I'm a bit on the fence about it. Mainly, because I already own NSMB DS. And it's sooooo freaking awesome. Nonetheless, I remember playing the original SM64 (N64) back in 1997, on a coworker's N64. It rocked. The DS version probably rocks, too.
Gaintbomb.com is good, gamespot is bigger and can do stuff faster, but the bombcast podcast is 2 hours of game vets Ryan davis. Brad shoemaker Vinny and Jeff himself
JEFF GOT FIRED? How, man, how? Oh wait, you don't know...firing Jeff, if they did, was the stupidest thing Gamespot has done yet! >:-(
@kezz001 it is too easy. the DS control scheme sucked, too. Play it on the 3DS.
