Meh. looks like fun for one or two days. I'm not a hardcore gamer so I normally spend my $$ on things I'll put hundreds of hours into.
I like that it was simple at first then gets more engaging and deeper with the more weapon upgrades you get (2x charge and range, reflect bullets ect...) Beside that i don't like the graphics that much.
I am a huge Strider fan. Myself and thousands of others have been waiting for this moment. Who is charge of these Capcom remakes. How about a block feature with some enemy AI and why do these publishers choose these developers that don't have a good track record to create the classic remakes. They didn't learn from Bionic Commando. It's 2013, lets get it together Capcom
Run & Slash baby.
the Megaman X series lost all its charm when it switched to 3D. That was 10 years ago... will they ever learn?
Did they set the dificulty on "very easy"? Because he was literally running through the bullets slashing everything on his way. I hope it'll be more challenging than what we saw in this footage. He reminds me a bit of Zero from the Megaman series.
This game looks great. It's certainly like Strider 2 but with a way more colorful graphic, but Strider's movement looks kind of awkward, especially when he runs. That's ok though. Can't wait for it to be released.
I remember my time playing the first Strider Hiryu and I thought to myself "what the hell am I playing?" while spamming the cool looking tonfa sword to kill enemies and grabbing pickups for the small robot that unleashes circle attacks. Then getting my ass handed to me, especially the final stage. Oh man, this game is freaking hard. Enemies that comes out of nowhere, awkward jump controls that can lead you falling down a pit, and a narrow field of vision. But in the end it's satisfying to finish, and i had a good laugh from just taking in the ridiculous amounts of deaths that I get.
Since i'm a huge fan of the old arcade i'm looking foward to this... Hovewer my expectations aren't too high...
I share the same sentiment as a lot of other people here. This looks really boring.
Although I've been wrong about games looking boring before.
Now for your next trick Capcom, how about rebooting Ghosts 'N Goblins/Ghouls N' Ghosts with lots of bright splashy colors and a very animated look like Disney-esque kinda stuff :)
I was wondering when they were going to reboot this. I just wish they had done something more with it than a HD redo of the original game. They could have done a space ninja action/RPG game...think something like Ninja Gaiden meet Mass Effect or something. Is this supposed to be next-gen? Because it looks current gen.
Oh yes... looks like the NES version, given the Shadow Complex treatment. Very exciting! Will be watching this one closely...
you run, you jump, you kill and you try not to die.
You probably wouldn't like the original Strider game....
This is a Xbox live game right?
Looks promising. I am quite happy to see Strider back in action. My only concern is the difficulty, as the first game was a nice challenge, but the playstation sequel basically made you immortal, which really hamstrung what should have been a great platformer. I am not sure where this one will fall, but he sure did seem to walk into a lot of bullets. Time will tell, but this one is definitely on my radar.
Boring...this game is like press forward and attack button...the first 7 minutes he got 3 power ups, o.O?
Maybe they need to get a lesson from Konami Castlevania Simphony X team, if this is possible, about how to build a really good and memorable 2D game...
Man, I hope no one from capcom read your comment.$20 seems fare, but knowing capcom, they might price it around 30. Dont think they will go up to 60.
I agree: some hit stun on Strider as he takes enemy fire would be more realistic. He has hit stun when he was battling that boss character.
The ability to have Strider block or dodge would be nice, seeing how much fire he's taking from the enemy & yet he is still standing.
@Sahle123 This is the case of most hack's slash games, even MGR is like that. The same could be told about FPS, run and shoot, run and shoot, COVER!!! Repeat.
@etryus Take in mind this is a demo, not a finished product. I would guess that it won't be this easy to actually play in the end.
@Kaz32 I agree with the running part especially.
@Fursnake I totally share your sentiment. Seems like this iteration is just a dressed up version of the old school game we all loved. Definitely wanted something above and beyond. Gameplay has evolved quite a bit since 1989, you wouldn't know that by looking at the video above. Will likely pass on this.
@Fursnake It IS current gen and I think most of the target audience, like myself, is probably okay with that. We want our Strider to make the leap from 1989 to now in some way. Those who aren't interested I'm sure have PLENTY to go enjoy.
@Crazyguy105 Um, not from what I've seen, looks awesome to me!
@bndori what he meet to say was it looks cool and it will be lots of fun!!
@drodriguesaar Yeah, after all the indie games that have been released lately I feel like this should be released digitally on platforms like Steam, XBL on Demand and the PSN Store for around $15. Full retail release seems like a bit too much to ask these days for a game like this.
@Pilgrim117 To each his own. I really did not mean anything offensive with my statement. I was just being sarcastic.
I enjoyed the original game and the Strider 2 game so I would be sorta interested in this, but depends on how much it costs and how bored I am at the time.
I see what u mean. But by making Hiryu easier to be killed will force players to use the block feature and enemy AI will force the developers to be more creative with weapons as well as offensive and defensive moves against enemies. It will still move fast especially with it coming to next generation consoles and they have plenty of time. Its still early
