Start/Select - Mass Effect 3 multiplayer! Minecraft dragons!
It's Monday, it's Minecraft, it's Mass Effect 3. We've got word on dragons appearing in Mojang's block builder and multiplayer hitting the Mass Effect series for the first time.
jacyp I say that because I play games from 1996 when first graphic accelerator went out and I know MORE than you. 90% of people who write here ar just teenagers with no experience at all, with no value system etc...they are just babbling. like YOU ;).
Hey Bogmire! multiplayer was optional with Hellgate London and look what happened with that screwed up mess that blew out a lot of puters with its BS. I love ME2 on my 8th playthrough now, but i'll have very strong reservations about buying ME3 if its a MM. Why ruin a good thing? Is EA making them compete against Diablo III
just team play for Mass Effect everything else will probably be worthless and detract from the game.
well it is the last mass effect game for shepard so they want fans to spend more then 100hrs on it... but i spend more 100hr on mass effect 2 because of it single player
I have an idea, instead of asking this stupid idea of multiplayer for ME3 (as someone said, co-op is weird enough for this game) , why don't you make a thread asking ME3 fans what DLC for THIS game would wanna have ;) How about that folks ?
I DON'T want multiplayer in ME3 !! I love only the single player. if you ask me, the multiplayer, everything except LAN option is stupid and I won't buy it. I hate MMOs and great titles transformed in stupid MMOs just because the producers thought they are smart and there is a milk cow there, taking our money for that.
Leave ME3 as a strictly single player game like its two (spectacular) predecessors. Im all for a multiplayer game set in the ME universe but keep it seperate from ME3
Definately interested in what the multiplayer is going to be, not going to cry ''the sky is falling'' untill more info is released and i believe Bioware is capable of adding multiplayer without diminishing the single player in anyway. But then again they did make Dragon age 2...
the people who make these vid's need to ask themselves if being a 'gamer', somehow makes you enjoy the immature humor that they are presented with..
This better not be the reason for the delay, it better because they wanted to polish the single-player campaign/story even more.
I am a huge Mass Effect fan having played through both numerous times and I can't wait for the final chapter. The action element of the game is outstanding and obviously very similar to Gears, which is excellent as a co-op game. Does it NEED a co-op mode? No, not really. However, I do love co-op games and if implemented well I think it could be a lot of fun. The fact that the co-op is separate to the main story (in terms of characters) means it's purely a supplement. I'm hopeful that this could be a great addition and at the end of the day, the single player experience wont suffer because of it and you need never play co-op and the game will still be epic - if you don't like co-op games..... just pretend it isn't there! ;-)
We have more than enough excellent multiplayer games available. The Mass Effect series has made a statement that single-player works, and multiplayer isn't always needed, just like the Half-Life series did. I am disappointed that ME3 will include multiplayer, instead of emphasising the single-player experience.
i just want ME3 to come out already.. as long as the singleplayer is amazing i can live without a multiplayer in mass effect
Multiplayer in Mass Effect, let alone a game from bioware?? . . . . . . GOODBYE BIOWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would much rather Bioware focus on the single player aspect of ME3. Even if ME3 turns out great, it could be even better in the absence of multiplayer =/ Plenty of other great multiplayer shooters out there.
ME3 co-op might be fun, but since the campaign is centered around Shepard, I don't know how persistence for non-Shepard characters would work. Still, I look forward to the attempt. With both BF3 and MW3 coming out before year's end, the next six months are a terrible time for other competitive shooter games to be released. I hope BioWare won't stake too much on the competitive MP element, if any, of ME3. As long as the SP maintains its excellent quality, I am getting it.
ME3 needs a co-op not multiplayer, the power system takes a bit too much time for you to choose what would you like to use in the middle of the battlefield :P
I'd be really excited about co-op multiplayer more than competitive. Though, I think the Mass Effect universe could come up with some unique and interesting takes on the multiplayer aspect. Instead of using main characters, make deathmatch type games battles between known warring factions (Geth vs Quarians, Krogan vs. Rachni). Plus, you could have "Defend the Krogan Female Camp" or "Drell Assassin" games. Overall, though, I don't think they should use main characters in competitive mode. That way, it would be like taking part in a fringe battle while Shepard and company are off in the main campaign.
@toddx77 Given that Mass Effect DLC has always been additional optional missions within the main body of the game, it doesn't matter what happens to Shepard at the end of the game. I just hope it's more along the lines of Overlord and Shadow Broker and not Kasumi or Arrival.
Samrat_Ashok Its not the last mass effect, its the last shepard game.ME universe is HUGE...there is lots of stuff going on there possibilities are endless, there will be other ME but not with shepard anymore.
toddx77 who said there will be no DLC? are u crazy? EA + BIO + mass effect no DLC...first DLC arrives after 2-3month mark my words
This is purly EA's doing I bet. EA probably told bioware, "hey since this is the last mass effect game and ends the story you really cant do any dlc. So we want you to put MP in the game so we can charge $15 for new map packs". Normally I wouldn't worry about this but ever since EA made bioware rush dragon age 2 its hard to trust them again.
Mass Effect has no multiplayer!MASS EFFECT NEEDS NO MULTIPLAYER!! :)) no but srsly i don't see the point please focus on the single player and making Shepard even more awesome than he/she is ! RPG's dont need multiplayer.Co-op would be interesting (playing as garus or wrex ,who wouldnt want that?? ) but PvP would be a terrible idea
I agree with Atheosis...Mass Effect does not need multiplayer. Please don't loss focus nor take away resources from the single player PLEASE!!!!!!
@Prometheus I could see competitive being good, but I'd worry about biotics outclassing guns entirely. However, I disagree and see an easy way they could do co-op. For the co-op you don't actually play as Shepard but rather a special forces commando under Shepard's command. You're teamed up with other special forces soldiers to take care of issues Shepard simply doesn't have time to do. This way the co-op could allow players to grow 2 characters instead of 1 AND allow a narrative that runs paralleled to the single player storyline.
@doontime Mass Effect 2 Collector's Edition $70 + $4.2 tax Lair of the Shadow Broker $10 Arrival $7 Alternate Appearance Pack 1 $2 Alternate Appearance Pack 2 $2 Firepower Pack $2 Aegis Pack $2 Overlord $7 Equalizer Pack $2 Kasumi - Stolen Memory $7 Total for Mass Effect 2 $115.20 Mind you, that even with all of these there are still fewer looks (appearance packs vs armor) and weapons than the first Mass Effect game.
Multiplayer is the best and only DRM that works. Having said that, I can only see cooperative multiplayer work with Mass Effect 3. Competitive Multiplayer just doesn't fit with the "heroic" Mass Effect feeling, so I expect a Dead Island-like multiplayer component.
I guess it was going to happen sooner or later...multiplayer in Mass Effect.... Luckily though this is probably the last ME game...so they really can't spoil it all that much even if they screw up single player while focusing on multiplayer. And I'll bet Notch is just pulling Bethesda's legs...just 'cause he can. And I can't say they don't deserve it, considering how they sued them.
For all the detractors out there, you could have said the same thing about uncharted multilayer, and it's actually a lot of fun. And it doesn't take away anything from the single player story. I think that's the case here with Mass Effect 3. If it's done right it will give another reason to invest a lot more hours after finishing the game a couple of times. Still, try not to develop expectations one way or the other, I'll wait till it comes out and see if the multiplayer improves the games or not.
Just because Bethesda Softworks included a Dragonling in Daggerfall and include dragons in Skyrim doesn't mean they can claim copyright on anything regarding dragons in general. Why don't they sue Atari for the 1979 game Adventure? I'm sure there's an evil dragon in there somewhere...
Every minute spent on multiplayer is a minute spent away from the single player experience. If they're just adding a form of co-op for the campaign then that's reasonable. If it's a multiplayer death match arena like style then that's not good news to me...
