@gassem156 im totally with you on that. I hate that random dungeon, boring story, kind of MMO. KotOR was awesome, hopefully this will follow suit
So basically there will be more then just Joining PVP Battlegrounds and entering random dungeons :) looks like there's a lot of interesting back story and great game play, and my fav looks like good armor and weps and of course environments :D Cant wait!! :)
i'm going to quit my job, buy a cabin in the woods, stock it with a year's worth of food and water, get internet access to the cabin in the woods, and tell everyone i know i went to china for a year EDIT: @ Abulon99 How dare you even try to compare this game with AoC, lmao Bioware developers are rocket scientists, plain and simple, compared to the folks over at Funcom (no disrespect intended).
They wont make the same mistakes than Age of Conan did with their demanding graphics but half the people could't run it at the time! People left, and the game suffer for it. They have to balance it to be beautiful but it must run on most computers. We will have a great game and it is what is important!
@senag Thats a little harsh dont you think? He's probably made some good friends at Bioware and EA and he's just thanking them and giving them some credit. Say what you want about EA and Lucasarts but they are both still run by people. Also, can we please stop complaining about graphics. Obviously no one cares about the graphics in WoW. Plus, when you look at art there are many different styles. I think making every game look hyper realistic would get a bit boring, especially if the game is designed to run on low end computers as well as high end ones.
@spidermanmon -Failed EA is not making the game there publishing it Bioware is making the game and we all know Bioware don't fail...
@spidermanmon Just to clear this up: EA is not making this; Bioware is. EA's the publisher, not the developer. Hopefully that eases some worries.
blablabla partnership blabla, we are really working together as a team blabla... dude stop whining with the propaganda (apparently he desperately needs his xmas bonus)
This guy sounds like he has a gun against his head and is being made to say all this lest the power of EA and Lucas film kill him and all his family. He must have said the word collaborate, marketing 20 times.
@tiny9999000 This is so true... It is a little unfortunate, however I would rather have mediocre graphics and a great story line with depth to characters and game play mechanics as opposed to fantastic graphics and no meat... The graphics tbh are not all that bad either. But you are correct I believe in that this game won't be a graphical ground breaker, but rather a technical achievement in the gameplay and story telling arenas.
Love BioWare. Hate MMO's. I play games to get away from people and escape reality for a few minutes. It's not like monthly subscriptions are cheap either. Looks like I'll lamentably have to pass on this one.
I find it kind of laughable that so many people are complaining about graphics from what I understand alot of games don't get "polished" until just a few months before release, it is one of the last thing gaming companies do before releasing the game... or atleast the good ones. besides don't expect it to look like the trailers, most games that look that good and have the majority of the public playing it are short and tend to be boring. Expect good to mediocre graphics with alot of story and characters and alot of different worlds and a very good gaming experience from this (thats what I expect) anymore and I might need to spend a couple thousand dollars on a new computer.
i hate when they say its kotor 3 4 5 6 7 8 9... cause thats a dang lie. all the charactors from kotor 1 and 2 are long gone so why the eff would it be a kotor 3? maybe kotor 300 but not 3
the only reason why I'm interested in this is because its's developed by Bioware. They are one of the few companies that gives great content, hopefully the game plays well too tho.
I'm not really an mmo player myself, but I really find myself envying u mmo'ers out there, you're going for such a treat!!
All I heard was Partnerships, Collaborating, Feedback, Licensing, Marketing and Lucas Arts. Oh and a lot of "Efficiency". They are committed to the fans though I guess :) - lol.
Qualitywise - Hard to tell it is... - Storyline will be unrivaled in MMOGs - Space combat will suck - PvP is shaky - End game content might be a little thin Still, the force is strong in this one...
wavelength121 SWtOR is a far more ambitious project than the previous KotOR games, that much should be obvious by now.
Aren't there already two games about the Old Republic? From BioWare, no less? Think maybe it's time to move on to a new IP children?
Yes, they need to work on the animation during combat. One thing that really stuck out to me was when using a force power the light saber magically disappears. It should either be reholstered, or better yet the character uses the force to levitate it near the side of the character.
Id rather not have pvp skarface but id rather have raids..Pvp is find on some servers but im hopeful thats not what the games about..There are enough pvp games on the market..Would love to log into the game an say raid in the star wars world..Cant wait for this next year to roll around..Im just hopeful they have learned from past mmorpgs..That any successful mmorpg needs a end game period..Im still in shock that star trek online is still around..
I heard some rumors that the singleplayer mode is playable without going online. Anyone know if this is true? I'm not really an MMO person.
He repeats himself more than 4 times in the first few minutes ( "...LucasFilm & LucasArts are helping with the design and marketing.") Not really much info here, just a marketing / hype generating interview.
Hm, Story-driven MMO? Have you tried to level your WoW character past-shattering? That is very well done story-driven epic leveling, which replaces statement "leveling alt" with "being on adventure"
