I own a PS3 but I played and liked conviction. If you wanted you could have played that game like any other Splinter cell = Stealthy. Thats how I played it. Though I don't own a 360, I'm really excited about this game. It looks like they've kept the good elements from conviction, and even though they showed quite a bit of action, it because its a stage demo at Microsoft...Like Kevin said if you look at the level design. Theres plenty of room for stealth.
Am I the only one that is glad that Michael Ironside does not voice Sam Fisher in Blacklist? He was brilliant in the first games, but I thought his performance in Conviction was awful, he sounded like he was drunk for the most part of the game.
What a joke. They should have named it something else or even made it a film which this could easily pass off as. How disappointing... airstrikes Ubisoft? Don't make it too obvious of who you're trying to please. Terrible game like Conviction.
Woot More KEVIN! YESSS seriously, quickly becoming my favorite commentary guy, keep up the good work! you too Carolyn! thanks for putting in long hours to bring us E3!
Why can't we just have true stealth like Chaos Theory and the games prior to that one? I honestly didn't care for the 5-hour action adventure known as Splinter Cell:Conviction. I hate the direction sequels to older franchises are heading. Stop catering to the casual-Cod/Madden crowd and cater to gamers.
I care about the game mechanics and stuff but I really want to know about Sam's complete character change, because from what I got from the trailer that may not be Sam Fisher, I know that they called him Sam sure but is it the same Sam Fisher in the previous games for definite because he seems a good twenty years younger (okay he may have seemed a lot younger when thinking about the bridge between conviction and double agent) I also noticed Grims voice is different too and she is also a lot younger looking. what the hell is going on :(
Everything is just meshing together it seems Dead Space 3, Resident Evil 6 , Tomb Raider and now Splinter Cell. They are all becoming Third person shooters with QTE's it's like whats happening with the FPS genre everything becoming COD-ified. Quite Sad really
Stealth and Splinter Cell was never about killing guys in stealthy ways or moving really fast. Stealth is about trying to accomplish something without alerting anyone or leaving a trail. Can I ghost through the game like Chaos Theory? Probably not.
I'll probably be expected to kill everyone in each area. Oh well. It's still technically a stealth game, but very much in the vain of stealth-action, and not actual stealth.
can't wait........... btw you guys should hit the gym more often, i thought the guy on the left was a chick at first XD
I love Splinter Cell... can't wait for this buy and play.... but looks like the direction is going else where... not like the previous games. Too much like future soldier or something.
Explains a bit why Ironside is not doing Fisher any more. I understand it a bit, but will miss the voice.
The style of gameplay overall though appears disappointing. Hope time will show it to be better than what the MS conference made it appear to be.
...No...Ironside?....Wh...at? Ugh. Why? Michael may be older but ffs it's not like his voice is completely gone. So yeah, this was the game I was hoping to hear about but now I am just very disappointed. I actually loved Conviction...but now this Call of Duty stepchild? Ugh. No..just no....so many franchises being changed for the simple minded gaming community now a days..DmC : Cool & Badass Dante tranforms to a skinny angst Hipster, Master Chief has lost some weight, Gears of War with no Karen Traviss, Metal Gear without the stealth and now Sam Fisher without authenticity. Fuck this generation.
I too am disappointed that Michael Ironside isn't voicing Sam Fischer. Grim sounded the same, but it's too bad they didn't even try to match his voice. The airstrike thing was pretty stupid and COD-esque, but I'm glad they've dropped the whole Sam Fischer outlaw storyline. I'm mostly glad to hear that Spy vs Merc is coming back. That was such a fun multiplayer experience. The game looks too action focused. Part of splinter cell's heart and soul was always limited ammo (to such an extent that you often had to bypass killing enemies completely) The vision mode that lets you see through walls a la thermal vision seemed cool, but mark and execute, while badass, seems to be too much of a "win" button. What happened to memorizing sentry routes and hiding bodies? Finally, for the love of god, quit it with the kinect BS. If you want to use kinect for fitness titles, fun and simple little games like Wreckateers, and UI controls, fine, but voice commands to attract guards? what happens if my dog is getting into my hot pockets and I want her to quit rummaging in the trash? I say "come here" and suddenly my cover is blown? These things just get in the way.
Game looks awesome, BUT I am so mad that Ironside isn't reprising his role as Fisher. Michael WAS Sam Fisher to me and now hearing some generic male hero voice coming out of Sam's mouth disappoints me greatly.
Game looks cool, but from what was shown didn't look like a Splinter Cell game as didn't feel stealthy at all.
my whole life favorite game to play was splinter cell double agent, but conviction has killed all that stealthiness and terror! they saying that they didn't see any stealth at all! so what the funt?!
I saw the trailer on Youtube. It looks fun, but it just isn't Splinter Cell anymore. Michael Ironside isn't voicing him anymore, Lambert is dead, the stealth has become a side element, and Sam Fisher has gone from a calm, cool professional to an emo with a bad temper. It will be a great game, but they've really dumbed it down for the mainstream players. I like the CoD series, but I hate what it's doing to franchises like Splinter Cell and Resident Evil.
I don't see what was wrong with the original Splinter Cell formula. If games like Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory are such amazing games (as GS said about them), why is it that developers are wanting to break that formula?
Splinter Cell competitive multiplayer was the greatest online game of all time. Spies vs. Mercs. Sigh.
i thought this was a cut out gameplay part of the conference
i dont care what these two greasy hunched-over slobs think...
@splinter10 You are correct: Conviction (and Blacklist) can be played sneakily if desired (and it's encouraged!)... but this doesn't work well for stage demos. In this instance, I think Ubisoft should release in the near future a stealth-focused playthrough of the same portion of the game.
@SpaceDesperado Conviction was a good game.
Blame "God Of War", for ruining Video Games, and made QTE popular.
@PeterDuck The last one perhaps shouldn't have been called Splinter Cell but it was a great game nonetheless...
@samfisher369 (s)he had a sex change operation........................................
@Ladiesman17 You're a dumbass. Splinter cell conviction came before future soldier. If anything future soldier is a ripoff of conviction. And that is also a narrow-minded viewpoint as they're made by the same publisher...
@tomkat69pc Just checked with folks in the office who know more than I would on the subject. Jade Raymond isn't directly involved with Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
@MJ12-Conspiracy Keep dreaming. unless you are talking about rising.
@prostar343 OH rly?
Oh the irony in your comment
@AyatollaofRnR Yes I am sure you enjoyed the return of the 'goggles' from conviction, meaning an overpowered 'win' button just like everything else mapped on the controller, breaking the whole game since you can use at all times with no disadvantages... I love it when games highlight everything for me especially the enemies!
yeah it was great for those who have little respect for the classic franchise/or never played prior games
no offense meant, btw
Holy fuck! You think I don't know that??,
my point is Splinter Cell should remain a Splinter Cell games,
not Military "Future Soldier" wannabe.
and who you are calling other people dumbass??
knowing a bit about video games doesn't made you a genius, dumb-ass..
@PeterDuck It was a great game, the only oroblem people have is that it holds the name Splinter Cell. If it was a new IP people (including myself) would think it's amazing.
