At least this trailer is finally showing some new stages (both of which look fantastic). Z.W.E.I. looks badass, Pyrrha is adorable, Natsu looks like she's going to be annoying as hell, and this game looks to have a hell of a lot of potential! The only thing is that hopefully this one will have a much better story mode... it looks ripe for one anyway.
@TenraiSenshi: Isabella Valentine aka Ivy. It the same character Ivy is her nickname, which she is most commonly known as.
That's strange. According to the game's site, the character that we all thought was Ivy is actually a character by the name of Isabella Valentine. So, I guess it isn't Ivy then. Maybe it is her daughter. What I don't understand though is why in the interviews, she is being referred to as Ivy. X__x
SC5 is going to be the best, For a game this early in development to look this beautiful already, that says a lot. Also the new speed of the fighting and the side step is what is going to make this completely different than SC4. SC4 will always be a great game because you actually felt the weight of each of the weapon and it had so much depth! But i feel like SC5 is bringing back the fast furious SC gameplay of SC2 mixed with amazing HD graphics. I cant wait to start building all my new creations and play all of the new stages!
fighting does seem to be a bit more fast paced than previous entries, characters seem a little more agile and these new special moves with cut scenes are cool...kind of like x-ray moves in MK. obv they are going to keep some of the old characters i wouldn't be surprised if about half the old cast is in there. but they should...thats what fans want lol. the thing i think thats most dissappointing is that it looks identical to SCIV. ive heard it was running a new engine but it should look a little different..not even the style of the art, but like, the stages look the same lol. I wish the stages had more variety and weren't so reminiscent of SCIV stages, and perhaps even brought a new aspect to the gameplay besides just ring outs. That, with better character customization, and a SUPER improved story mode over SCIV (SCII story mode was great!) Then i'll get it. otherwise, it won't be worth it and will be too much of a rehash of a game thats not that old and still very much playable.
@metaltorn Read that recently? It's a pre-alpha build, if you did any research you'd find it's running on a new engine. The engine could be bringing more game play changes then visual. Besides, SoulCalibur V will be running on the same hardware as SoulCalibur IV, the tech hasn't improved so the room for improvement visually just isn't that great. There's a simple reason the characters haven't aged to the point of being considered old. It's a fighting game, they're not story driven. If all the characters aged they'd eventually die out, what would that leave the fans with? A new game made entirely of new characters, that may not sit well with the majority of fans. Besides Ivy not aging has been commented on, they've given an in-game reason for her not ageing, they haven't left the fans clueless. It's not laziness, why add features in the game that would arguably make the game worse? Who'd want to fight as a middle aged woman dressed in a skimpy outfit?
Project Soul is amazing, this looks fantastic. After they finish V, they need to start developing a different game because they are so talented. I absolutely love the art style in this game!
@MEDzZ3RO i read it in gamesradar. PLUS if they dont age what is the point of making 17 yrs later if one of their characters doesn't age. why?' because they didnt have the balls to make her middle-aged. and if u knew anything, then compare the graphics to sc4 and you'd now the didnt use a new engine. someone obiviously doesnt pay attention to details in games. and if your gonna give an example of a game, use a game that states years has past in the series (for all u know it could be striaght after the adventure in mario even a parallel universe) u just cant face the fact that this game is LAZY and is gonna be underwelming. as for me, i've been a fan of this series sense it came out to the arcade and i know what i want in the game and if ur gonna say it takes place in over a decade then it should show signs on the characters age. Look and AC revalations great example they stick to their guns (EZIO ACTUALLY GETS OLD)and mgs 4 they werent afraid to make EVA old just because she was hot in snake eater. they dont give a cheap excuses they're not lazy.
@metaltorn It's a game, it doesn't have to follow the laws governed by reality; that's the beauty of video games. I don't see Mario getting any grey hairs... Where have you read Soulcalibur V is using the Soulcalibur IV engine? As far as I know it's a new engine.
Who's voice it that at the beginning ("You and I will live forever, my dear...)? I didn't play SC4 on English, so I don't know if it's a familiar voice - anybody knows? If the rumors flying around are anything to go by - any chance it's Sophitia's? (in which case... she's probably the new Nightmare?! Awesome!) Anyway - NEW PARTY GAME FOR MY COLLECTION! :D
this game it just plain LAZY!!! they dont use a new game engine, most of "new" characters are reskins of old ones, ivy is not middle-aged. this game is already disappointed. anyone who thinks this recycled game is "cool" isnt a true soul calibur fan. plus the excuse they used for why Ivy isn't middle-aged is becus she stopped aging at 32. now that is a LAZY excuse not to carry out wat the game suppose to be and thats 17 years LATER and not 2years later.
