Pete Murray talks about the improvements to Sid Meier’s Civilization V in this interview.
Did you enjoy this video?
I was kind of hesitant when I realized that they changed the social contexts from Civ IV, but this video made me anticipate the new one way more now.
oh god, i'm going to lose so much time with this game
Unfortunately its always the same game with tweaked AI and better graphics, after playing since civ II when i got to civ IV it all felt the same.
Just like civ V...
The best part of the video was the 2 Gold trade agreement..:P
And blaming the queen for raging the war..Too good commentator..:-)
It's way cool that people talk in their native language as well as moving space ship parts now. Also, leaders are looking very well animated.. :p
But still I'm gonna wait at least 3 more years until I've got a new computer which this game properly will run on.
The leaders look fantastic. What other game series would give us the possibility to listen to a probably very accurate voice of Montezuma? I hate that i won't be able to play it though. I think the minimun requirements for Civ 5 are the highest so far for any game to date.
I've been playing CIV games since the beginning and i love the fact that they have improved strategical aspects of combat. The stack of doom always seemed like a dumb exploit to me.
Absolutely can't wait for this game. I will lose countless hours of my free time laying waste and conquering nations.
aarg! im getting bored of waiting. Release now!
Cant wait to get my hands on this game :D we are getting quite a few good titles before the year cuts out. Thank you Firaxis and 2K
this is a top game for sure
I got hooked on Civ IV back in '05 in addition to several expansions there after. I'm really looking forward to Civ V as I believe this franchise has offered one of the best and most consistant PC games ever in terms quality, depth, replay value and just plain fun. I bought the collectors edition of Civ IV and must say it was one of the best I have ever seen, from the leather bound case to all the extras included. I hope Civ V has a similar collectors version to this, it will be well worth it. Can't wait for this game !
I can barely wait for this game. Sadly, the demo will only be released on the 21st of September, which is the same day as it comes out in North America.
Looks great! just hope they have more civs than what they siad they woukld
Haha -- brilliant! :-)
The real question is how quickly can they get a Fall From Heaven 2 mod for this game? Kael, I hope you have something cooking!
I'm shaking every time I hear about Civ 5.
I will get this game even if i must die for it.
That intro music reminds me a little of the Top Gun opening theme. Ha!
@vinnie66 Revolution is a fine game. I say that as an avid Civ fan who still plays Civ IV on a nearly daily basis. You're far to rabid of a PC fan to have your opinion taken completely seriously. Revolution is different, not worse. It is geared towards shorter and simpler games. Sometimes, people don't want to play a 4-6 hour or longer game.
The PC is NOT universally superior to consoles. Your opinion doesn't overrule those of millions of others. Consoles can deliver an equally great gaming experience for a far cheaper price and without having to deal with DRM or the other PC specific problems that a dedicated console doesn't have to concern itself with.
@vinnie66 cheers for the tip, revolution seemed to get review scores much higher than it warranted, i think ill get a cheap version of civ4 and see what its like
@alastairf and your comment is the primary reason I am firm believer in PC > console. Revolution is a horrible version and does little to nothing for the rep of the Civ series if not pulls it down for people who have never played the PC versions. It only proves how inadiquate a console really is compared to a PC. Thank the game gods Civ 5 is not going to be a port ! /kneel
started with Civ3, then totally addicting in civ4, i think i will stop eating when i play civ5
It looks like it is going to be a great strategy game. I hope I will get it soon.
stupidly, the only civilization ive tried is revolution, that got repetitive very fast, so im not sure if i should risk my money on this
Not sure if I like the new interface. Just kinda feels console-like to me. Oh well. Only time will tell how it works out.
long time fan...can't wait for this one!
I liked the video and mr murray as well, well done. really looking forward to this!
wow, i'll buy it as soon as it will be in the stores
Even if they just threw a few tweaks + graphics at it every few years, i'd still buy it ;-) It was, and always will be a great game...Sid Meir, you rock dude.
can't wait to conquer the world!
you're not reliving history you're rewriting it which is why all the people who complain about researching medieval techs in 2000ad or future tech in 1000bc have fundamentally moot points
but i still would like the ancient eras to be padded out considering the vast majority of human civilization has been very basic and with little technology
They should make the game longer, particularity medieval.Come on if there were no mods the Civ4 would be average game. The marathon and long options for game speed control were so unbalanced and give a huge bonus to some starting techs. No change in years that pass on marathon option,in 2000 i still research some medieval techs. So this type on small flaws pull back the game.
It does look amazing and I am stoked, but like a lot of longtime fans (heard in the forums), am a little worried by the short tech tree.
