Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gods & Kings Dev Diary 2
The second developer diary for Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gods & Kings focuses on cultivating and expanding with the new content added.
I love the Civ series like most people and I like Civ5 and still play.
The thing i absolutely hate is the combat, I've never found a good combat mod yet.
@Poodlejumper Well said. Couldn't agree more. Just watch, next month, they'll announce civ 6 and this will all be for naught.
Civ 5 wasn't a total step back for me--I liked the new combat and city-state systems (even it it got shallow as every one wanted you to assassinate another and it just became easier to pay), but I missed religion (wasn't huge on espionage). Got repetitive faster than IV, but decent.nonetheless.
Do I wish that some of this were in the original? Duh. Do I mind paying for it now? Very little, given how intricate and reworked the whole game is. It's not like "$10 for one more civ and a scenario you know you're not gonna play". This is a legitimate expansion and not just rehashing the Civ IV mechanics. I'm glad I preordered.
Its great they are putting religion back in the game, and it looks like naval combat just got a lot more interesting. And more civs, and opened up to mods. Civ 4 got a lot better with the expansions - looks like we're seeing that again. I'll bite. :-)
They took out religion and espionage in CIV V from CIV IV, and now they are adding it back and reselling it in an expansion???
I find sad the fact that Civ 5 is one of the most played titles in Steam statistics on a daily basis. I am not a huge fan of Civ, but have been following it and I have lost my fair share of sleep because of it. However I find it unacceptable that Civ 4 has religion integrated while Civ 5 offers it as a full price expansion. I got Civ 5 from a Steam sale, wasn't imppressed mostly because of the lack of religion. Actually I feel offended to see this added as an expansion. So I will pass.
@vishisluv7 Civ 5 has best combat yet, no more BS stack of death!!!
@chaosbrigade This is a big fat expansion if you read the details.
Not to mention they support mods which makes the game have infinite content for free.
